My labs are being processed right now and I'm supposed to get a prescription for spiro once they're done, but this election has me so scared of what my country is capable of that I seriously feel that if I go on hormones that I'm going to be murdered. I don't know if I can handle treatment anymore.
Be cool, you've got this.
[editline]9th November 2016[/editline]
Please no one hurt themselves, it's not worth it!! If you need a friend you can always talk to me.
Not trans but I accidently clicked on this thread, I hope things work out ok for all you in the USA. Stay safe.
I don't usually visit here a lot, but i do want to wish you guys the best over in America
I really wish i could do more for you than that
Came out as transgender female to my mom a few weeks ago. Guess i'll have to talk about getting a name/gender change on all my documents sooner than I expected.
This sucks.
Stay strong and stay safe everyone.
Please stay safe out there friends. With a fuckwit like Pence in power, I'm genuinely afraid for my gf's well being.
I wouldn't worry too much about Pence until Trump gets removed from power for whatever reason. If he does though, that's the time you should be making plans to get the fuck out of America.
All I can do is offer prayers and support for y'all.
Stay strong. Don't let fear, hatred, bigotry, and complacency be the end of you.
You all are overreacting.
Trump actually doesn't give two shits about us enough to fuck the LGBT community over. Calm down.

That doesn't mean anything.
The Senate may be red, but the majority of the Republican Party has been wanting to make the right-wing an all inclusive branch of government. This is why a /lot/ of Republicans are against Donald Trump because he promotes and validates alt-right bigotry, racism, and discrimination. Trump and Pence can throw whatever bullshit bill they want to pass but the Senate has to review it and vote and it's very, very unlikely they will allow such ass backward laws to pass.
You can even look at the handbook that was given out during the RNC. They want gays, they want religious and non-religious people, transgender people, etc. For YEARS they've wanted to disassociate themselves as being the "unprogressive party."
Trump's not even a republican. He's more an independent candidate running on a Republican ticket. Regardless, Trump does not care about gay people. He's even once said to a reporter who was gay, "Well that's why a restaurant has a menu because everyone likes something different." He's also a man who cares mostly about money. Even if he did care that much, again, the Republicans /do not like this man./ It is highly unlikely the senate will let stupid laws pass. We're fine.
The problem is that the Republican manifesto supports gay conversion therapy and so does Pence. Pence's actions in the past have proven he has an anti-LGBT policy. Trump wants to give the States the right to decide who can marry or not.
People in the LGBT community are not overreacting. They are genuinely terrified (and with good reason) what the future holds for them in the United States.

Here's the Republican Platform from 2016: https://prod-static-ngop-pbl.s3.amazonaws.com/static/home/data/platform.pdf
Do me a quick favor and Ctrl + F anything regarding LGBT. There's nothing. Because they don't care. Pence is the only one in favor of that shit because he's a principal conservative.
I would hotly contest the idea that this manifesto has nothing to do with LGBT rights. Read that, and the sources provided - the manifesto absolutely does have an anti-LGBT tint to it.
They do care about removing LGBT rights as it is what their base wants - only about 33% of Republicans support gay marriage.
It is incredibly dangerous to say the LGBT community is overreacting. It is a very real possibility their rights are about to go south.

I understand what you're saying, but this is again a small vocal minority that are unfortunately at the top. That shouldn't be the case now with this election. Have a read here:

Pence is vice president though and will hold a lot of sway. The representatives at the top will vote for this. Whatever the majority of Republicans believe does not matter now; it is that vocal majority who holds the power that matters.
This is why I am scared.
The scariest part isn't even necessarily Trump or even Pence, it's their vocal supporters. The people who are already causing problems that are going to now think that they're in power because their candidate is in office. The racist, sexist, anti-LGBT folk.
There's a difference between relieving pressure and denying that certain things could happen and that we're "overreacting."

(Because you guys are.)
A president and vice president are very limited in power.

They also have the control of the house and the senate, however, and will probably elect very conservative judges.
I just hope you are right and I am overreacting. Because the consequences will be bad if I'm right.
This may sound extremely antagonizing, but this isnt the first time anyone here, or in the LGBT community has overreacted. So when someone here denies they are over reacting, I'm not really sure if I want to believe that
^ Fucking ace.
I wouldn't open my mouth normally because I can understand the concern... but seriously?
Best of luck to everyone. Stay safe, get ccw permits, stay inside.

Like holy shit you all are acting like there's a national fag drag going on or that a super category 5 hurricane is gonna rip through the entire United States. It's really /not/ this scary. Trump and Pence aren't going to do shit because it seems the majority of the Senate, /despite being red/, do not like the anti-LGBT mentality anymore.
Everythings going to be fine. Just chill out. You can be concerned but you're all overblowing it substantially. And I just want you guys to see that so you can at least fucking sleep at night. Yeah, I'm really blunt and I'm sorry about that, but I'm not trying to be an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. I just don't want people to be falsely led by fear mongering. Everything is going to be okay.

Did you read that article I posted? Most of the Republican party either finds in favor of LGBT rights or doesn't even consider LGBT people to be an issue. They've wanted to be inclusive of EVERYONE to segregate away from the unprogressive party mentality they've led for so many years.
I just hope you are right and I am overreacting. Because the consequences will be bad if I'm right.
I hope I'm right too. I'm a realist, so I wouldn't be saying this shit if I didn't 100% truly believe this wasn't the case. Just calm down. You're gonna be okay.
It's not myself that I'm worried about. I did read your article but I'm not convinced.
I'm trying to be realistic as well. Sorry if I'm coming off an ass.
You gotta remember too that the law for legalizing gay marriage had to go through the senate too. A senate that has been mostly red for a while now. Even during Obama's presidency there were 44 seats for the democratic party and 54 seats for the republicans. And the law to legalize gay marriage still was voted in favor, pushed to the supreme court, and /passed/. Now it's 45 democrats to 53 republicans. I don't feel the supreme court is going to change much either even under Trump's presidency.

Well, we didn't expect US to vote for an angry orange as a president. And yet, here we are.
As far as anything can be expected, it's best to plan for the worst - upper government is majority Red. This means that any places that are already not LGBT-tolerant are going to be assuring that LGBT people are second-class citizens on a local scale. This might not seem that bad, since they deceptively appear to be small areas, but that's entire swaths of country where LGBT people will be unable to live normal lives, because of threat to their health and economic well-being.
I mean, I live in Vermont, as long as I remain here, I'm practically safe and sound. But now I'm limited to a number of specific areas (New England, most of West Coast) and large cities - anywhere else can be a fair game against me - and hell, most other folk in here.

Yeah and that was a big problem.

There's an empty seat and Trump's choice for nomination will most likely make the Supreme Court conservative leaning. Considering that a case going to the supreme court is about whether or not transgender identities are covered under Title IX (an anti-discrimination ordinance), I would say that there is a cause for worry. There's also the possibility that it may not be required anymore for health care to cover transitioning, since that happened due to Obama's health care reform, meaning that for many of us there is a possibility of not being able to medically transition. There's also the trans immigrants who came to the US for asylum from transphobic countries who are probably going to be sent back due to immigration reform under Trump's administration. There's lots of things to worry about and it's understandable for the community to respond like this. The reaction will calm down, but everyone should give the community more time than a day for that to happen.

A real concern of mine: trans people were just recently allowed to serve in the military (June of this year). We'll likely see a reversal of that under Trump.
Banning gays and lesbians from the military is a concern, but personally I think it's unlikely to see that come back.
Might be a bit late but I hope you girls that live in America will still be able to do well for the next few years with what's happened
Amber902 is going to come live out in my town ❤️
