This seems pointless. They should just donate now so it can help sooner, and annoyingly people will think of this as "I donated to Japan by liking this page" when they've actually done shite all.
God. There is so many of these shit fan pages. Just stop trying. If they wanted to give money they'd do it now.
I think the reason they are doing it is to raise awareness and encourage people to donate. The more likes the more people are inclined to donate possibly. I put it on my facebook and I am trying to get everybody to like it if it helps the disaster relief.
"I don't need to donate anymore i just liked this page i've done my part"
I did it just because it exists.
Thank god it's friday
Slacktivism at its finest
It's better to donate directly than through RedCross.
It's better to donate directly than through RedCross.
But I'm sure most of the people that liked it would not have donated anyways
Why doesn't the Red Cross just give Japan the money now? It seems easier than waiting for people to like it. [editline]17th March 2011[/editline] It's still a good cause though.
Well if they prompt people to donate they will. They are also trying to appeal to a wider audience.
This is a good way to see if they should donate anything or not. Lucky #300 on this one :D
I'd make a facebook account just for that if it wasn't for all the bullshit I'll get afterward......
Eh, I would 'Like' it...but I don't 'Like' shit on Facebook.
These things never do what they say they do. I'm not liking a random page. Plus this is not even close to how the Red Cross works. They don't do shit like wasting time and effort trying to get a bunch of people to "Like" a Facebook page. They don't need a number of "Likes" to tell them how much money to donate. They just coordinate and give supplies and man-power based on what they feel is necessary, and 9.9 times out of 10, they do a pretty fucking amazing job at it. Whoever made this Facebook page is just an egocentric jerk taking advantage of a huge natural disaster to put his name out there, making it look like he cares but in reality he thinks it's going to make him more popular. It's what every jerk thinks when they make a page like this.
I don't even use Facebook. I only have an account with a couple of friends and I log in every half a year. I liked the page because I thought that if it infact MIGHT be real, pressing like will not hurt me. Infact, I think you are so hugely egocentrically jerky yourself, taht you are scared pressing like will somehow damage you and are trying to justify it by whining about the people who take 2 seconds out of their life to click like.
I liked it, why not.
Indeed, this guy could just be sucking money off people who he made believe it's going to contribute to disasters like this. But then either way 1$ isn't much. Then again it becomes alot if 1000+ people go along with it.
What money would he be sucking off people exactly? It's a little like button.
Heh I remember a while back there was a similar group but with Haiti instead. however after it got like a million members they changed the name to "Remove the womans right to vote" or something similar. I have to admit I laughed even though it was a dick-move.
Sounds more like rating whoring to me really. :saddowns:
It's like on YouTube, when people say in a video to 'Like' and 'Subscribe' to win some prize.
