The PS4 and XBone may be comparatively weak when put next to a PC, but both consoles should be able to run Akham Asylum at max settings easily. Honestly all they had to do was rerelease the game using effects from the PC version, it would have been faster and cheaper, and it wouldn't look worse than the original like it does now.
Yeah that's what I was saying, the remaster should have just started as PC's max settings and gone from there. I was just saying that the remaster might look better than the original console versions, such as the 360 version.
I wonder why they even went with UE4 and not the UE3.75 build that AK was on. At least that ran fine on consoles and nobody complained about the aesthetic
Graphically, the original looks way better. But the new model for Harley Quinn is an improvement in the remaster, her face looks much better.
The only thing that really stood out as objectively better was how bane looks at 2:45 other than that this all looks like ass
The remastered doesn't look as good because it's being showed on the PS4/Xbox One and the originals are being shown on the PC at max settings
not a viable excuse there's no reason a ps4 game should look objectively worse than a last-gen game this is all on whoever is porting this

oh my god [t]http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/batman/images/3/3c/Hugo_Strange_evil.png/revision/latest?cb=20120130134128[/t][t]https://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1212872_md.jpg[/t] this is from the game as it is now they didn't mix it up, it actually looks that bad [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] PC version or not being the original, there's no reason the original should look worse, even on consoles even on consoles it should look better, and it should no less at least look better than even the PC versions, otherwise why bother? Just look at the CoD4 remake. Graphically it's a HUGE update, it's 100% justified and honestly it deserves a remake because its a great game. What the fuck is the point of this WHY of my god, this is unreal :v: [editline]21st May 2016[/editline] I'm hoping I'm wrong and this video is just a prank otherwise this remaster is George Lucas Tier
The remastered doesn't look as good because it's being showed on the PS4/Xbox One and the originals are being shown on the PC at max settings. You disagree but a few posts above mine explain this.
no excuse. the crysis 1 port to the xbox 360 had lighting and particles that, in some areas, outshine the vanilla pc version on high settings.
Doesn't look nearly as bad as you guys make it out to be.
Looking at the picture at 0:45 in the second video Theres so many mistakes on Batmans face alone, the original has a much more natural skin tone The original has a slightly more stern and better facial expression that makes the remastered look like a judge dredd (Stallone) figure doing a weak selfie pout. They have removed a lot of wrinkles and natural muscle/fat pouches from his face especially on the cheeks. The sepia tone filter from the lighting doesnt look great in my opinion but i dont understand why only some scenes have it at :30 in the second video the remastered looks like it has a better colour in its lighting, but at :45 its reversed with the remastered now having a sepia tint to it. The specular on his helmet looks flat as fuck as if the helmet is now a matte finish. The neck muscles have been smoothed out on the remastered i could go either way on this tbh, somtimes overworking the muscles looks odd. Watched the first video and i will say atleast the environments are an improvment.
imagine paying for a visual downgrade
It looks like The Joker had some teeth removed.
hahaha you can fucking see the texture mirroring [editline]22nd May 2016[/editline] how do i preorder???
So they hired some student who changed some shader settings... and now they sell it as remastered game. Also if there is anyone from WB on this forum, I have an idea for you! Take remastered game and add ENB, so you could sell it as remastered remastered game. Oh you can also take remastered remastered game and apply sharpening filter to all textures and sell it as remastered remastered remastered game.
You know. It would have been cheaper if they just set the PC settings to max and ported the game over. :v:
According to a friend of mine most of these changes seem to be so that City/Asylum will match the aesthetic/colors of Knight, I guess. Most of these seem less like an "improvement" and more of an overall change in the look.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Os1a07T.png[/t] is this a joke
somebody looked at this and thought "this looks good"
what a pointless remaster
It looks like The Joker had some teeth removed.
This is the thumbnail to the video without the labels, so before I watched it I immediately thought the one on the right was the Remaster. Boy oh boy was I wrong. :v:
We're all in agreement that Asylum is the best game in the series, right?
Story wise I liked it more with the exception of the ending, but overall I think City is the best.
what a pointless remaster
more money for WB is the point my guess is the devs were told "remaster this game, remasters are making money and popular so do it, do it quickly" and thus this happened. A remaster that was far, far too soon and doesn't even look better than the original, and even looks worse in many cases.
Looks like we're not missing out on anything. In some parts it looks *slightly* better, but overall, the UE3 games still hold up fantastically.
'Remasters' of games that aren't even old is rather annoying to me for some reason. I mean It's not like they've aged poorly either, they still look fine and more importantly play fine. It's even more laughable when its a joke of a remaster and most of it looks like lighting differences. Asylum released in 2009.. come on...
my only problem with the original arkham games (graphically), and it seems that this remaster doesn't adress that either, is the fact that most cutscenes were prerecorded 720p stuff i personally really dislike the usage of prerecorded cutscenes in games, because they age pretty terribly, as once you move to a higher resolution (like 4k) they just look so shit compared to the actual ingame render with all full effects on and maxed out
Would you rather watch the cutscene in-game and then have to sit through a static loading screen? Most games use prerecorded cutscenes in place of loading screens.
According to a friend of mine most of these changes seem to be so that City/Asylum will match the aesthetic/colors of Knight, I guess. Most of these seem less like an "improvement" and more of an overall change in the look.
That was the vibe I was getting watching the video. The aesthetic has changed quite a bit from Aslyum to Knight. Asylum was had a more traditional comic book feel.
Graphically, the original looks way better. But the new model for Harley Quinn is an improvement in the remaster, her face looks much better.
There is one thing better on Harley, they modelled her buckles and straps instead of just being flat textures. The shading on the skin seems more natural as well.
This is embarassing
They were probably aiming for 60 FPS so they had to downgrade the graphics. I really don't see any other reason why it looks so bad. [editline]22nd May 2016[/editline] Lighting looks good in remastered, but textures are really bad.
