Game of Thrones version IV: Preface your spoilers with BOOK or SHOW
Shit, that exchange between Littlefinger and Varys was one of the best dialogue scenes in the entire show.
I love that Littlefinger gets so much air time in the show. He's not ever a POV character, so he's rarely in the book save if Sansa is nearby, which is rare.

Also, weird reading in book 5 -
[sp]The Theon chapter where they rescue Jeyne Poole/fake Arya from Winterfell, the beginning show a fight between Manderly men and Frey men and one of the Freys slashes Lord Manderly "cutting through several of his fat chins". I thought he was dead, given that slashing someone's throat is rather mortal, but then it said a maester was helping stop the bleeding and he was still alive. Did I read it wrong or something or is Manderly just extremely lucky to be alive?[/sp]

Book 5 sort of [sp]I think it's a combination of luck and the fact that he is so incredibly overweight. Presumably the layers upon layers of extra fat he has around his neck means that the major veins/arteries are relatively deep and well protected.[/sp]
[sp]Same for how Dany's visions in the warlock's place pretty much spoiled a big reveal in the fifth book if you know how to see literary foreshadowing.[/sp]
It's been a while since I read it could you remind me exactly was foreshadowed?
'but knowing my luck George r martin will just kill me. and throw me in a ditch'
It's great that he's read the books though. I was thinking that most of the characters didn't.
(and did anyone notice the guy taking pictures in the backround at around 3:00? Someone could make an avatar out of it.)
He actually didn't read the books and was awkwardly asked by G.R.R if he had during a press conference. He's probably read them by now, but during Season 1 he said he hadn't even heard of the books on a podcast
I really like Little Finger, he seems to be the best player plus his actor reminds me a bit of Gary Oldman.
Nah, littlefinger is pretty petty. He's a better 'player' the cersei, but everyone is. but he simply cannot compete against the greatness of tyrion or varys.
Plus, i can't stand watching him on the screen. His voice is so ridiculous. It's not believable.
Have any of the actors read the books? It's kind of silly that so many haven't. you'd think the guys in charge would make them read the books, wouldn't you? Jon snow's actor in particular makes me rage.
I thought Jon Snow's actor is one of the few who read 4 books so far.

All book spoilers: [sp]Littlefinger is easily the person who plays the Game of Thrones the best. The goddamned plans he has to take the North and more are beyond what anyone else could think of. Varys and Tyrion couldn't hold a candle to Littlefinger's plans. Add to that the fact he knows stuff others have forgotten or only know parts of and you have the reason why he is a force to be reckoned with.[/sp]

I was going to rate you agree until you said BOOK 5 MASSSSSSIVE SPOILERS [sp] LF was better than Varys. Varys probably knows what LF's up to but doesn't give a fuck - he's successfully rasied the rightful heir to the throne and now said heir is in the process of conquering the Stormlands. LF knowing that that guy is the heir is impressive, but anyone could find that out if they read enough books. Varys hid Rhaegars son from the world, raised him to be a great king and his plans are actually working out. He doesn't trust anyone, which is what is going to fuck Littlefinger over. Littlefinger trusts Sansa, and that's going to kill him. [/sp]

Book spoilers: [sp]I'm not quite convinced Varys knows everything Littlefinger does and vica versa, obviously. I'd still give it to Littlefinger to come out on top when it comes to playing the Game of Thrones.[/sp]
LF and Varys are pretty much on par with each other
but MASSIVE TWOW SPOILERS AND SPECULATION [sp]their plans will be their own downfall. JonCon will give greyscale to the blackfyre pretender (but only after it is confirmed he's a blackfyre) and Sansa will kill Littlefinger / have him killed.[/sp]

[sp]Plus he seems like a nicer and more competent person than anyone vying for the throne right now.[/sp]

Naah man I think he definitely plays it well, not on par with Varys ofc, and I think he's pretty badass on screen, much better than in S1
I think Tyrions a pretty meagre player tbh, he's a genius, but none of his plans ever follow through properly.

b5 - [sp]In the warlock's place, Dany sees her brother Rheagar with his wife looking over their son and he says his son will be a "song of ice and fire". You don't peg the name of the entire series to something like that without it being a very significant event. Supposedly that kid died when the Mountain 'dashed its head against a wall'. GRRM wouldn't peg the title of the series to a dead character like that and I knew instantly that the kid was alive, somewhere. Which is later revealed to be Young Griff.
For the longest time, I believed Young Griff was the "prince that was promised" until Melisandre virtually said it was Jon Snow in b5[/sp]
Was an great episode, although not as good as the previous 2 imo.
(Also, Melisandre is shmexy)

They play completely different games tbh
book 5 [sp]Littlefinger is all about his own gain, and pretty much gobbles up as much power as he can but he doesn't have many long-term plans for keeping that power. Sure, he'll be the effective ruler of the Vale, Riverlands and North. What then? How does he intend to keep that position? Harry the Heir may not be malleable, Sansa growing up may turn out as he wants. He only has the phony seat of Harrenhal which no one will accept, and his most important bannermen for keeping the Riverlands will be the Freys who are hated by everybody.[/sp]

[sp]It's because of all those things that I sense Littlefinger has a greater ambition and goal that has yet been stated. I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to know he can't hold all the power he's gained so far. He's bound to have a card up his sleeve to insure such things in the future.[/sp]

Do not underestimate him.
Sword swallower through and through
My fucking sides :v:
I don't think these are spoilers, but in case of overzealous mods, i'l put them in tags anyway.
[sp]
I was thinking littlefinger just wanted cat/someone who was very much like cat. But otherwise he enjoys playing the got because it's fun. Other than Cat, he doesn't actualy have an 'endgame' goal. he doesn't want the game to end.
Varys wants to make the world better. Thing is, i don't see how it is that he hates magic so much when he also wants the targaryens and her dragons back. (the dragons being one of the various sources for magic) Varys is probably the most 'good' character playing.
tyrion likes the game of thrones, but he's also got goals: Casterly rock, love, revenge against his sister. Maybe he'd like to be tall too.
Cersei's... I don't feel like i need to explain, but we all know she's going to get herself killed. [/sp]
I don't trust Varys.
Can someone explain the exchanges between Varys and Baelish, I don't get what they are talking about, I didn't really pay attention to their conversations near the beginning and now they make no sense
That Joffrey is a real jerk.
I don't trust Varys.
I've only watched the show, but he seems like one of the chillest dudes.

One of the bigger reasons I don't trust him :v:

You give Tyrion way too much credit, yes hes a smartass but just about all of this series and some on the last one has shown us that hes totally out of his depth at court.

Basically all of their little exchanges in the show are abstract commentaries on what's going on in the world, and the people in it.

They talked a bit about the game of thrones, and then [sp]about a snitch (Ros) I'm pretty sure[/sp]

Joffrey truly is a terrible shot. 3 arrows to the poor bedpost who didn't ever do anything. (How do you even miss from what looks like 6 ft away?)
