Holy fuck, after someone spoiled me Red Wedding, and the fate of [sp]Tywin Lannister[/sp] I was afraid I will not experience any truly "what the fuck" moment in this series. But I swear I didn't seen that coming. That was some Breaking Bad shit. [sp]I mean, if I was sure that there was one character whose death we won't see till a long time, I'd say safely that it's Joffrey, just to spite the fans. Jesus, motherfucking Christ. When they did the close-up on the cake, I thought that it was maybe poisoned. That some shit will fell down on Tyrion and maybe on others, because Joffrey will be pissed that someone could've spoil his wedding. But death? No fucking way. Never. Even when I saw his dead corpse I had to check the internet, because I couldn't believe it.[/sp]
Sigur Ros were also the band with the organ that Joffrey throws coins at :D
I figured. Especially after I read that they were cast in an "unspecified role." :v:
I just realized how amazing it would be to be watching this without reading the books. [sp]this whole episode, imagine not knowing who did it, the excitement of waiting to find out. It could be Oberyn (who said not only Lannisters pay their debts) Queen of Thrones, Tyrion, Ser Dontos and maybe even Podrick didn't Tyrion tell him to go, "find some other way to thank the king"?[/sp]

I honestly thought it would be more violent.[/sp]
fuck i need to read the books

YAY
I loved the whole wedding scene. So many funny interactions between characters. Loved the part when Tyrion thought Oberyn was greeting him.
Okay upon reflection, they missed something huge. [sp] No "I am no stranger to Valyrian steel", which is important because it triggers the realisation in Tyrion that Joff hired the assassin to take out Bran in his bed, which reveals that Joffrey actually has a character beyond 'evil little shit' - He only wanted Robert's approval, and he's only a psycho because of his fucked upbringing. I feel bad for Joffrey, I don't hate him. [/sp] But I guess the show runners prefer absolutes like Stannis is evil (why do they always have his scenes at night? feels like they're trying to make him the bad guy), Dany is our saviour and that Joff is an evil little shit with no redeeming features.
I disagree with two things. One [sp]killing Bran for Robert makes no sense. What would Bran's death do for Robert? I don't get it. So it wouldn't add more to Joffrey's character than we already know.[/sp] Stannis is not evil, he's definitely not presented that way. He's tragic, in that he's in the right, next in line for the throne. But he has no way to make that happen except by depending on someone who's telling him to do evil things. This is why he snaps at Davos, Davos is the voice of his conscience and it bothers him to hear what he knows is right. If he was evil he would not care.
book 3: [sp]as a book reader I dont understand why locke (read vargo hoat) is still alive. he cut off jaimes hand. tywin would never let that go unpunished. it's even funnier because bolton chewed ramsays ass off in front locke over what ramsay did to theon. youd think either roose or tywin would have executed him.[/sp]
What I think, and this is going to sound crazy is [sp]Tywin didn't mind so much. It actually helps Tywin in his goal of getting Jaime off the kingsguard and back to Casterly Rock. Only of course Jaime won't cooperate. Roose did ask that the circumstances be explained, that he had nothing to do with it. So it's not a big deal, why kill one of your best guys over nothing?[/sp]
[sp]so who poisoned him[/sp]
[sp]so who poisoned him[/sp]
[sp]George RR Martin [/sp]

It's talked about in the books and goes to show just how insane and innately cruel Joffrey was.[/sp] And you're spot on with the other things though. (Book3/EP2S4)[sp] No one cared about Joff except Cersei. [/sp]
[sp]George RR Martin [/sp]
[sp]touche[/sp]
Didn't suffer enough
How it happens in the books (spoilers duh): [sp]when he's choking he tears the skin off his neck in an attempt to breathe[/sp]
How it happens in the books (spoilers duh): [sp]when he's choking he tears the skin off his neck in an attempt to breathe[/sp]
The book version is fucking brutal. Book 3 ASOS direct text: [sp] "Joffrey began to claw at his throat, his nails tearing bloody gouges in the flesh. Beneath the skin, the muscles stood out hard as stone." [/sp] Though it was a bit weird how it was displayed in the show, not that exact moment, but the responses (one again Book 3 ASOS spoilers) [sp] cause in the books plenty of people are trying to help Joffrey as he's choking and some nobles are even throwing suggestions to help him stop. A bunch of people are freaking out. However in the episode people are just sitting back like "meh, whatever" and it's a hell of a contrast.[/sp]
[sp] Robert was talking about how it would be kinder for Bran to have died, and Joffrey overheard. In his twisted head he figured if he killed Bran, Robert would be proud of him. Tyrion outlines this in ASOS [/sp]
That's what I was saying though, [sp]it says nothing new about Joffrey. We already know he has a twisted mind. He IS, or was, an evil little shit and no, killing a kid for daddy doesn't somehow offer balance to that. He hasn't been corrupted by his family, he was born corrupted. That's my view anyways.[/sp]
[sp]When the "Rain of Castamere" started playing on Joffreys wedding I was surprised, like wtf, is someone going to die again? I honestly didn't expect him to die so soon. As soon as Joffrey started picking on Tyrion and the music started playing.. it was so awesome.[/sp]

As soon as Joffrey started picking on Tyrion and the music started playing.. it was so awesome.[/sp]
That song doesn't indicate someone will die. Season 3: [sp] It is a Lannister song, hence its importance being played at a Northern wedding in Season 3[/sp]
I love the dialogue between Tywin Lannister and Olenna Tyrel.
One of my favorite little parts was when Loras and The Red Viper started eyeing each other. Followed by the little exchange between Loras and Jamie.
[sp]When Joff poured wine on Tyrion's head, I was like "yes, mock the imp, you'll get yours you bitch" I have NOT read to books, so I really didn't see it coming, holy shit.[/sp]
Book three MAJOR spoilers: [sp]Did it occur to anyone else that when Oberyn says "And he split Elia in half with his greatsword" that they're probably going to be replacing the face punching in with that? I.E. Instead of the Mountain saying "AND I SMASHED HER FUCKING FACE IN, LIKE THIS!" he'll say "AND I CUT HER IN FUCKING TWO, LIKE THIS!"[/sp]
I was worried that [sp]Joffrey's death wouldn't look convincing, but I think they pulled it off well. The book says his face turned purple and he was clawing at his neck until it bled - kinda hard to act that out.[/sp]
[sp]They pulled it off fantastically, it was even worse than the books. Actually, now that I think about it, alot of deaths and stuff are far more gruesome in the show than in the books.[/sp]
The one thing that always annoyed me is how tame the Iron Throne looks, and so I googled and found some interpretations and holy shit these look good. I haven't read the books and I'm wondering about the latest episode. [sp]Did Joffrey show this much asshole mastery during the wedding in the books, too?[/sp]
First one is really cool, but they'd have to be some pretty big swords. The second is more realistic.
I think that first one is what GRRM said comes closest to what he imagined.
The second is what GRRM said he envisioned when he thinks of the iron throne. GRRM can be a little ott when it comes to sizes however, as at one point the wall is described as being a mile high or something.
