Alright, so to the people who have read the books. I don't plan on ever readnig it, but I want to hear this from you guys. How accurate is the show compared to the book?
Alright, so to the people who have read the books. I don't plan on ever readnig it, but I want to hear this from you guys. How accurate is the show compared to the book?
I'd say 65-85% accurate. Most of its the same, but they do tend to change stuff to make it work better in the show.
I'd say it's 90% accurate*. Mostly what you see in the show reflects the essence of the same thing in the books. It is probably not even 20% complete, compared to what you get in the books. They have to leave out tons of things and characters. There's just not enough time. *If character X does thing Y in the book, but character Z does thing Y in the show, I count that as accurate. That's because they did that due to the fact that they cut character X out of the story, so they give that action to an appropriate character who is in the show. Some people may count that sort of thing as inaccurate but I don't.
There's lots of conversations that never appear in the show purely because they don't really advance the plot. I'm halfway through book two, so I can't give a complete rundown. But there will be like a whole chapter dedicated to Tyrion discussing battle strategy with the council. Something really accurate for an 800 page book about a war. But not really interesting enough for the show. Also if a character gets from point A to point B really quickly in the show, there's usually a chapter or two about the travel in the book.
alright sounds good, i was feeling like i am not counted as a fan unless i read the books as well. fucking hate reading glad to see I don't really need to either since everything happens in the book seems to happen in the show in different order
I wish the series DVD sets weren't so damn expensive because I'm a lazy shit and can't be bothered to download the entire thing. My internet being fairly shitty it would take roughly a day or two to download season three alone at any decent quality.
holy fuck, the song at the end of season 3 episode 10 is amazing
since we're all saying how good jack gleeson was at being joffrey. i thought viserys was really well acted. i always felt bad for him because he was so desperate but everyone hated him. even though he was a massive tool.
So I've got the opportunity to have something signed by the actress that plays Arya, I've been thinking about getting a poster signed but I'm not really sure which one I should get signed. I've got this one, which I quite like - but it's not really that relevent. [t]http://images.cdn.bigcartel.com/bigcartel/product_images/126237318/max_h-1000+max_w-1000/GOT_TLD.jpg[/t] but I also saw this one the other day, and thought it looked good and was quite relevant. [t]http://ih0.redbubble.net/image.16441115.4332/flat,800x800,070,f.u1.jpg[/t] Thoughts? If anybody has any other suggestions for posters I should consider getting, then i'm open to ideas.
definitely the bottom one with arya & the hound
Are they getting rid of Coldhands? book spoilers + show spoilers [sp]because in S04E2 Bran wargs with the tree and we hear who I can definitely say is the Bloodraven, so does that mean that Bloodraven will guide them via visions like that? Because Coldhands is too badass to not be in the show[/sp]
The biggest differences are that in the books you always know what the PoV character is thinking, they have much more time to talk about past events, and there are dreams/flashbacks occasionally. In the show there will never be any flashbacks so it's much harder to understand what happened before the books started.

theory/speculation/maybe book+show spoilers about coldhands [sp]It is rumored that Benjen's actor was originally coldhands but couldn't do it because of scheduling conlicts. So benjen = coldhands might be true [/sp]

i can't wait for the book 3/4(?) [sp] siege on castle black [/sp] i really wish they had included the one armed black smith in the show just so he could be as awesome during the [sp] battle, killing the main giant before dying [/sp]

[sp]By that logic since the actor playing Tommen has been replaced by the actor who played his cousin Martyn, Martyn = Tommen![/sp]
I'm still upset over arya's character development. In the books she's got all these great scenes with gendry, one great chase seen on horseback.. and she's a lot more clever in the [sp]killing of people[/sp] In the TV series she just fires a bow. Archery replaces all the good stuff.

Stannis the Mannis is the rightful king
Stannis the Mannis is the rightful king
I'll have peace on those terms.
Stannis the Mannis is the rightful king
He's pretty cool but I feel like he isn't given enough screen time on the show.
Naw, Best canidate for king is cersei. Everyone knows that. Seriously though. Everyone who wants to rule westeros is a monumental fuckup. Varys is the solution.
Stannis the Mannis is the rightful king
But he seems to be heavily influenced by a bunch of nuts (or is one too).
Fun fact: If both Tommon and Myrcella die before they have children then Stannis is the rightful king anyway.
Fun fact: If both Tommon and Myrcella die before they have children then Stannis is the rightful king anyway.
Technically Daenerys is. You know, cause the Targaryens weren't wiped out.
Technically Daenerys is. You know, cause the Targaryens weren't wiped out.
technically, the targaryens had their asses handed to them and lost the throne fair and square to robert.
