Joffrey truly is a terrible shot. 3 arrows to the poor bedpost who didn't ever do anything. (How do you even miss from what looks like 6 ft away?)
[sp]Actually, that was pretty good attention to detail from the set designer. Joffrey's a psychopath, and this is his first kill. He was working up to it, and getting off on her fear. Shooting near her was just a part of the "foreplay."[/sp]

Ah that makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
It's not his first kill though? [sp]Didn't he kill at least one other whore a while back and told the other one to get out or something?[/sp]

[sp]I think she was just beaten really badly.[/sp]
Yeah I'm gonna take my time this summer and read the books. Feels bad not knowing what the hell I'm talking about. Also I keep spoiling stuff by clicking on spoiler tags

Yeah, I plan to order the complete works after my rent payment at the end of the month. I'd love to order them sooner, but I'm already cutting it very close to the line, and I don't want to risk coming up short. I'm a bit hesitant to spoil any plot points of the show by reading the books, but I'm so into this story that I've just got to read them to help fill in the blanks.
Am I the only one who has problems enjoying the show when they don't stick to the original story. Such as altering events or characters.

Joffrey never (the minorist of minor Joffrey spoilers from the books) [sp] kills any whores, or anyone in the books. It's just some cats when he was a kid. It's one of the show changes I actually really like. [/sp]
GRRM wrote this next episode, so it's gonna be oh so good.
Sansa looked terrifying in this scene

Look at those eyes!

Book Two [sp]No Joffrey killed a man with his crossbow during some of the food riots in the city, and he shot a woman in the arm.[/sp]

Plus [sp]he's probably had several put to death while in court hearing petitions.[/sp]
I guess they dress Sansa to look as close to Cat as possible. I think she would look much better with different hairstyle and clothes.
Joff shoots his crossbow into a crowd in book two and kills a person. He's also extremely fond of ordering other people to kill/fight eachother. There was an incident where he found a pregnant cat and sliced it open to get to the babies (which greatly angered Robert, which in turn greatly angered cersei) .
I think it does mention that he made a mess of tyrion's gift during a nameday (probably the whores) but it doesn't realy go into detail. Yet i don't think the differences matter so much. Joffery is probably one of the most accurately portrayed characters in the series. Jack Gleeson is a very good actor.
i actually think sansa is really quite pretty, especially in that last episode (except for her horrible crying face).

Let's not forget what happened to[sp]Ned Stark[/sp]

Also (book 5?) [sp]Bran[/sp]
Also (book 5?) [sp]Bran[/sp]
[sp]What did Joffrey have to do with Bran in book 5? Hell, what did Joffrey have to do with anything in book 5?[/sp]
So I want to get into the books aswell, up til which book can i read until I get to stuff that hasnt happened in season 3 yet?

Well it's a little tough to say in some aspects because for the TV show they have to show the story in a linear progression whereas in the books it bounces around referring to major events after they have happened and such.
For example, [sp]Theon isn't actually in book 3.[/sp] <-- Minor book/tv show spoiler

Revealed in book 5 I think that [sp]Joff hired the hitman to kill Bran[/sp]

So technically it has to deal with events in a GoT but it still is a later book spoiler
Revealed in book 5 I think that [sp]Joff hired the hitman to kill Bran[/sp]
Pretty sure that was revealed at the end of book 3, which would be next season.
[sp]Tyrion mentions it shortly before or during Joff's wedding.[/sp]

As mentioned it's getting to the point were different peoples stories are starting to not follow the same direction the book does. But generally at the end of season 3 you should be able to read about half the way through the 3rd book.
If anybody is swithering about buying the books, or nervous it might ruin the tv show for them, I wouldn't worry about it. I read all the books after the end of season 2 and I still love watching the show. To be honest, SO MUCH happens I can barely remember it all... so the show still has plenty of fun surprises.
If you want to read the books but are more interested in the show, just wait until the end of the season to get the corresponding book.

Oh wait, HBO decided not to do "one season equals one book" anymore, so I guess you can't really do that.
What's the next episode named again?
What's the next episode named again?
The Bear and the Maiden Fair
A bear there was, a bear, a BEAR!
All black and brown and covered in hair
I dunno why people are complaining about reading the books before catching up to the episodes.
Just read all the books, they've got more story into them than the television show can ever hope to put into itself.
I read all the books and still watch the show. I consider the show a great supplement to my ASoIaF fun and fandom.
