it's clearly from a future episode if anything.
Impossible.
They've just finished filming Season 5, so I guess it could be from there.
I don't think Tyrion would be standing next to his father and sister like that considering how he's been [sp]thrown in jail and accused for the murder of Joffrey[/sp]
then again it might be the [sp]trial[/sp]
jesus look at the overexposed whites and lack of colour grading and obvious handicam feel
its set footage move on everybody

Oh right.
I just watched the Purple Wedding.
[sp]That death was really violent, made me feel uneasy. I think it was the makeup[/sp]
Because Martin is a meticulous and slow writer, it is likely that years will pass before we learn the fates of Daenerys and her dragons, the recriminatory Lannister siblings and the shellshocked progeny in the Stark family. There is even the chance that the HBO series might arrive at key plot points before the books do, and though Martin once dismissed that possibility, he's now mindful of it. "I better get these books done," he tells me, on a drive through the streets of Santa Fe.
That took long enough.

I see no problem.

[sp]I like how the next episode opens on the same closeup face. It's both really gruesome and really good fan service[/sp]

uhhhhh, theres a huge problem
some people have been waiting since 1996 since AGoT came out to find out the ending of the series. I wouldn't want some half assed fan-fiction ending from the show that wasn't even written by GRRM.

didn't he basically write up how he planned on ending the series in case he died or something before he finished the books?
didn't he basically write up how he planned on ending the series in case he died or something before he finished the books?
Yeah, partially as insurance for that very event, and partially because the producers ordered him to.
didn't he basically write up how he planned on ending the series in case he died or something before he finished the books?
yeah but with all the changes made by the producers it wouldn't be the real ending
but at the same time it would spoil everyone
when the show inevitably reaches the end of TWOW they should just go on hiatus until ADOS is released, or do a Robert's Rebellion prequel or something.

I agree with this but what will happen with all the child actors.

we'll put them into cryosleep
Man, loved the scene where [sp]Tywin teaches Tommen about statescraft; Tywin really filled the warm grandpa role there. The voice of reason inside of me kinda knows he's just molding him into his tool but deep down inside of me I just kinda hope that he does actually have benevolent intentions aside from that.[/sp]
I saw it differently. [sp]He wasn't warm or grandfatherly or teaching anything, he was threatening. His stories of the previous kings were all about them dying, even Joffrey. Clearly, he was delivering a message even a kid like Tommen could understand- "Do you want to die? No? Then you'll do as I say". It was only after that message was delivered that Tywin threw him a bone. That was the sex talk they were having on the way out. That was the grandfatherly bit. Tywin has learned from the disaster they had with Joffrey, keep a tight leash on the grandson who is king. In other words, Tywin was creating a puppet, not teaching him to think for himself.[/sp]

Personally, [sp] I feel that Tywin feels both, really. He wants his children and grandchildren to succeed and the only reason why he's such a bastard to them is because he believes he knows best, and that an optimistic outlook is the best way to getting stabbed in the back. You'll succeed, Tywin will count on it, through an iron heart. [/sp]
I think Sigur Ros did a great job with the Rains of Castamere. The spooky vibe fits the show perfectly
except I don't like the yodelling at the beginning
The Rains of Castamere is overused way too much in the show, it's lost all impact now.
Should have only ever been played in the credits of the Red Wedding episode
This season sorta seems more pander-y then the last seasons.

Obviously padding and fan-service because they are fully understanding that Martin will never finish the series before they catch up.
Did anyone else notice in the beginning of Episode 3 Season 4,[sp]Littlefinger says Sansa has been "tormented by Joffery for years" at this point in time?
Maybe it was a slip up or phrasing for effect, but that sends messages to me of the writers gearing up for major changes to the timeline -- even if only as a backup plan.

Just started watching this show. On episode 5 of season 1 now. I thought the training captain of The Wall was Father Jack (the alcoholic one) from Father Ted. And Gendry is supposed to be popping ecstasy every minute. Also I feel sorry for this kid:

He mugged Mark and got sent to The Wall.

It's actually been a few years. I think the first book alone takes place over a year
I'm pretty sure it was about two years from the Battle of Riverrun to the Red Wedding, so though it's not really shown a considerable amount of time has indeed passed
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
*In case you don't know the Battle of Riverrun is when Jaime Lannister smashed the host of the Riverlords and put Riverrun to siege
Though I guess the war could be considered as starting after the Battle of the Golden Tooth, when Jaime cut through a small Riverlord host under Lords Vance and Piper, or after the Battle of the Mummer's Ford, when Gregor Clegane ambushed Beric Dondarrion the first time
I think people tend to forget how fast time flies in Game of Thrones, the characters don't usually mention the passage of time. I think the only mention of how much time has passed is the episode before Joffrey's wedding where they mention it will be in a fortnight.
So I just realized that Roose Bolton looks just like Vladimir Putin...

When Petyr mentions Joffrey had been tormenting Sansa for years and I was really confused for a moment if it was some script mistake or if it was intended.
The series can be pretty confusing with its time scale because the actors obviously don't exactly physically age all that much in the span of a few episodes despite the series going through entire months in one or two episodes.

Well the first book takes at least nine months since Daenerys goes through [sp]almost complete[/sp] pregnancy.

Well it was like that in the books. Everyone got sick of it by book 3 but the musicians think the Lannisters still love it and play it anyway.

I always picture Stannis as Tony Abbott, no idea why though.
