[sp]It isn't hours later, it may seem that way but it's weeks later[/sp]
Either way, [sp]Jon isn't tried for the death of the Halfhand until after the battle. Once he gets out of bed, the entire focus is on building stuff to defend the wall from the south side, and they don't really show that at all.[/sp].
I had really high hopes for season 4 and it's been going good so far. this episode just completely crushed that for me.

like seriously what the fuck were they thinking while writing this shit.

This is pretty insignificant to the entire series.[sp] I mean we always knew the white walkers were all breeds of fucked up.[/sp] Other minor changes are worse. Namely: [sp]Jaime raping Cersei[/sp], that kind of change actually drastically changes a characters whole story arc.

minor book spoilers [sp] there is nothing worse then a character not acting like themselves. i don't mind the new scenes as they are just filler and the characters are still coherent. the jaime rape scene is by far the worst scene in this season and possibly the whole series because of how it fucked jaimes whole redemption arc.[/sp]
As long as these changes are under GRRM's supervision, I'm fine with them.
A fair bit of the books don't translate well to the screen, seeing as how they're either too boring (to have in a visual medium) or they can't be expressed (internal-dialog/thoughts) easily.
I know [sp]Locke is tasked with killing Jon Snow and he cut off Jaime's hand[/sp] but I still like him.
That was a really strange episode.
I didn't mind the episode up to the [sp]snow darth maul[/sp] scene. That shit really threw me off.
I hope they do better effects for [sp]dead white walkers[/sp] this time, because holy shit I'm so gonna enjoy watching them get killed.
The bit between [sp]Brienne and Jaime[/sp] was rather touching.
[sp]I have a feeling a lot of what they are doing is to pad out the storyline and make it more continuous, especially with Bran. His chapters are far shorter than anyone elses in this part of the story, and they don't want to just cut him out completely, so they give him more stuff to sync his story to the rest of the timeline. [/sp]
As a book reader I loved that episode. Don't see what the fuzz is all about. I'm terribly excited to see [sp]how things go down at Craster's Keep. Would you guys rather have the rest of the season be Bran & Co walking around with nothing happening until the finale? Jesus. And the White Walker bit at the end? Why, because it might spoil something in TWOW? I thought the WW turning the babies was pretty obvious what was happening to them. Why else would the WW pick them up at Craster's Keep? I honestly don't get the anger.[/sp]
As non book reader I thought the episode was fine
[sp] I love that undead skeleton horse, so badass[/sp]

yeah, I'd call that a pretty huge spoiler

[sp] I wonder if the white walker on the horse will become a recurring character in the show. It's the second time he's made an appearance (First time was the end of season 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6yoS3LFIFM), and the horse was also in Bran's vision in the first episode of the season.[/sp]
i am legitimately never going to watch this show anymore.
it goes back to what i was saying a page or so ago - some people have been reading this series since 1996, they shouldn't be spoiled by some fan fiction TV show as to future book events.
If you think this is okay, I feel bad for you.

People are so dramatic. You'll be watching the next episode and you know it.

no, i wont. I don't want to be spoiled for future books, which is now inevitable, especially with the Beyond the Wall story line.
The only way I would watch again was if GRRM came out and said the TV show storyline is completely different to what will happen in the books.

Boohoo, a TV show nobody forced you to watch went slightly off-track because it is under no official obligation to follow the books word for word as well as having an entirely independent creative direction, spoiled the storyline of one of the books you were reading that nobody forced you to read.
How will you ever cope with such a tragedy I wonder?
If you want to stay 100% non-spoiled then maybe you shouldn't follow two interpretations of the same story at the same time.

I had assumed they wouldn't wreck it for people, not when they're only on the third book. I had always planned to stop watching when they reached the end of ADWD or TWOW.

you know you can enjoy two different things at once, right? one doesn't negate the other?
the tv show ruins the book about as much as the resident evil movies ruin the games - not even slightly. the originals are the same as they always will be.
(also game of thrones is a great show and you are crazy)
S4E4 spoilers
[sp]Locke[/sp] is in the Night's Watch to learn about [sp]Bran & Rickon[/sp], right?

its not even that great
the cgi can be absolute wank, some of the acting is absolutely horrible (littlefingers accent (and to an extent, tyrions) is horrific, jesus christ), they're changing shit that doesn't need to be changed (shit that would translate from book to screen), completely ruining good characters (jaime and stannis spring to mind) and they've completely ignored some good arcs that they could have included instead of having this filler crap they've put on.
resident evil is a bad comparison, because the films are not a direct adaptation of the games. this tv show is supposed to be an adaptation of the books, and to an extent, it is. but adding stuff in from future books just isn't cool. i personally watch this show because i love the books, i dont really like seeing major revelations.
If you wanna talk about book betrayals you wanna hear about the french translation of the books
They translated dire wolves into werewolves. I'm not even shitting you.
Lateste ep[sp]I'm peeved about the Night's King thing and I think a couple of the developing subplots are stupid and ridiculous (And apparently Jaime raped Cersei!!!????? what the fuck) but I'd hardly say the show is ruining the books or that the show is garbage
Also they replaced Janos Slynt with the Vargo Hoat replacement in the Watch??[/sp]

latest episode[sp]Janos Slynt is still present [/sp]
end of ADWD[sp]Locke could replace Bowen Marsh though maybe [/sp]

Dance [sp]Oh, I guess. But Marsh was a longtime veteran of the Watch while Locke is just some Bolton forager who showed up all evil like. Not saying he couldn't fill that role well just saying it's kinda weird. I prefer Hoat's death when he gets eaten piece by piece by northern prisoners and himself[/sp]
as a non book reader (yet, i really do need to find time to read them), did the white walker stuff spoil stuff that wasn't in the books yet?
why would they do that?
