as a non book reader, did the white walker stuff spoil stuff that wasn't in the books yet? why would they do that?
It confirmed some long speculated theories though the [sp]Night's King stuff was entirely unexpected[/sp]
All of you are behaving weird. It's not like what was in that episode shat totally on the canon, mostly because [sp]there was literally no canon established on White Walkers. And it's not like the writers don't give a shit about GRRM's opinion, I'm pretty sure they asked him about this, and this shit will be confirmed in Winds of Winter.[/sp] That about the ending, about the rest I have no idea, I'm in the same moment with the books as is the TV series.
Watching book readers get angry at the show for spoiling things for a change is kinda funny.
book hipsters are the worst [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] yeah, well, I read game of thrones BEFORE it was cool...
It's not even that big of a plot point Jesus. I've literally just passed the part in book two where it is heavily implied that [sp]Craster gives his sons to the white walkers. The only two outcomes would be they eat the kids or they create more white walkers.[/sp] Coming from someone who's had every major death of the first three books spoiled for me, it's a bit of an over reaction.
I had assumed they wouldn't wreck it for people, not when they're only on the third book. I had always planned to stop watching when they reached the end of ADWD or TWOW.
Just pick one or the other to enjoy first. Don't read a book while you watch it's cinematic adaptation and then get pissed enough to boycott the series if things are different.
Oh wow, pretty glad I'm only a show watcher. I think the show is fucking awesome with the production values sky high, but I can understand why the book goons are so pissed off if the story goes way different than in the books. Still, I'll watch the show till it ends and I'll most likely love the shit out of it all. Edit:
There I was, thinking "nobody here can spoil the show for me; I'm already at book five and i've read between all the lines and I've even figured out much of the foreshadowing so I'l know a great deal of events that occur in book 6 and 7. I can click on ALL the spoilers and not have to worry" I was wrong, thanks a lot, bastards. I hope you all freeze north of the wall whilst I bask within the red god.
i am legitimately never going to watch this show anymore. it goes back to what i was saying a page or so ago - some people have been reading this series since 1996, they shouldn't be spoiled by some fan fiction TV show as to future book events. If you think this is okay, I feel bad for you.
Okay.
I think the Littlefinger scene could've been done better, but that's probably because the [sp]'Chaos is a ladder'[/sp] scene set the bar pretty high. Also think it's kinda saddening the White Walkers aren't called what they're called in the books-- [sp]'The Others'[/sp] sounds a lot more obscure and frightening than the 'White Walkers'.

the issue isn't show original content, that's fine even though it's usually kinda shit hell, even the reveal at the end of the episode wouldn't be that bad [sp]not the craster's kid one because that has been speculated forever and the show fails to be subtle in these matters as usual, but rather the viewer's guide outright stating it's the night's king (which is a p huge spoiler) before someone realized they fucked up and the guide got changed. without the reader's guide none of us would have been any wiser[/sp]
Is [sp]The Night King[/sp] important or something.
So like did [sp]Jaime actually rape Cersei or did she resist coyly before going for it, because she does that a lot in the books. I can't imagine it actually being rape because Jaime's entire arc after Riverrun is one of redemption. So other than rape and Kon fighting the mutineers I can't really say this has ruined anything[/sp]
Is [sp]The Night King[/sp] important or something.
probably. [sp]spoiling that he's important or going to appear or is important within the white walkers scheme is spoilery i guess. that said, reading the books beforehand didn't really lessen my enjoyment of the show and well, if the night king showing up again is planned in the future books i look forward to it even more, grrm will make it even better. also like someone said above, it was spoiled in the viewers guide, without that you'd have no idea who it would be other than the crown/horns. show watchers have no idea who it is either if they didn't read the synopsis.[/sp]
I gotta be honest, I really liked the general aesthetic of the final scene. It was spooky and ethereal looking. And to any one saying they're only on the third book, [sp]they said they were going to include elements from the 4th and 5th books. I reckon it's either for pacing concerning certain stories, or because they intend to take the entire show in a different direction from the book because there's only so many books.[/sp]
people are fucking babies.
say what now

makes sense they put so much effort into this now [editline]28th April 2014[/editline] anyway the big deal to me is the [sp]number of dudes in the back & the colour of the clothes they're wearing[/sp]
listen u fookin cheeky lil cunt, i have over 300 fookin confirmed fookin kills u lil shit
book hipsters are the worst [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] yeah, well, I read game of thrones BEFORE it was cool...
I don't think it has to do with reading it before it was cool or some thing. We're just kinda pissed we got something spoiled for us because they needed to extend their run time (despite cutting out other important plot points). Its fine if they change things or whatever... I may not agree with said changes but at least they aren't passing Martin. As G19 said your analogy with Resident Evil doesn't work at all. I'm not arguing the Craster crap, they can interpret that however they want. The stuff showing (and literally saying it is) the [sp]Nights King.[/sp] Do show watchers even know his back story at this point?? They should've just shown the WW taking the baby and that's it. I guess we all thought Martin cared more about his work than this. Guess not!
listen u fookin cheeky lil cunt, i have over 300 fookin confirmed fookin kills u lil shit
He reminds me of a deranged and violent Lee Evans.
One change I actually do like from the book is [sp]Bronn teaching Jaime instead. Bronn is fantastic in the show! Though, they've totally fucked up Jaime in his redemption arc with the whole rape thing. I look even weirder now when I tell my friends, "Jaime is my favourite character." [/sp]
i liked the latest episode, but some of the acting felt kinda weird and cliche at times? such as - the cheesy scene with the nights watch members slowly standing up one by one - the scene where brienne rides away on her horse and looks back at jaime (+ the ridiculous wide angle shot of pod's face) - the panning shot of evil daenerys standing on top of the pyramid - the 'little finger was an evil mastermind all along' scene idk the show has its fair show of cheesy moments and cliches from time to time but this episode was especially filled with them. it was still a great episode though. also i don't know why people thought margaery was trying to seduce noteviljoffrey, it felt like she just wanted to get to know her future husband and they had a cute moment and in the end nicejoffrey was able to go to sleep without being paranoid

[/sp]
that doesn't really make sense though, [sp]Bronn is a sellsword and sellswords are notoriously untrustworthy. In the books he sparred with Ser Ilyn, because Ser Ilyn couldn't speak or write. He couldn't tell anyone that Jaime can't fight anymore, which is why he could do it without risk (apart from being discovered by a third party). Bronn is a really bad choice for Jaime especially now if Tyrion gets convicted, as Bronn will be a knight and free from his service and can go and brag in any tavern how he beat the kingslayer.[/sp]
oh yeah also another change i forgot in my list of changes: [sp]jorah isn't supposed to be with dany, she kicks him out. she didnt even know barristan was barristan. barristan calls jorah out on spying on dany (he was on the small council so he knew this, he wasnt on the council in the show though!), jorah calls barristan out on his true identity. the two of them go into the city via the sewers, dany hopes one dies. both come back and she says she has to exile one so she kicks jorah out.[/sp]

Am I the only fucking person on this planet who can watch a TV show without having a seizure? I thought that episode was completely fine.
