I'm gonna read the books during the eventual limbo between the time HBO catches up with the books and more are made I'm sure the 20 years or so that I'll have will be enough
I read the books so slowly and spaced everything out so much (between S2 and S3) that I forgot practically every detail that isn't a super-duper major event.
Fuzzy wuzzy wuz a bear
I totaly imagined the 'bear and the maiden fair' sounding totaly different. I was almost considering making a video of the song. I wonder what George thought the song should sound like... Someone needs to get him to sing it.

I can barely remember anything, except loving it as I was reading it.
If you want to read the books but are more interested in the show, just wait until the end of the season to get the corresponding book. [editline]7th May 2013[/editline] Oh wait, HBO decided not to do "one season equals one book" anymore, so I guess you can't really do that.
Well certain publications (I think some places in Europe) actually split ASOS into two books. I don't know how closely seasons three and four coincide with the halves of the book yet, but you might be able to read them that way and still be relatively safe from book spoilers. Guess we'll have to wait until the end of the season to be sure though.
I read the books so slowly and spaced everything out so much (between S2 and S3) that I forgot practically every detail that isn't a super-duper major event.
I read book 1 in two weeks, book 2 in three weeks, book 3 in a month, book 4 took 2 months and I started book 5 in January and I'm about 3/4ths done. If college and work had not gotten in the way for the past year, I would be finished by now with about 1 book = 1 week's reading.
The only valid reason for not reading the books came from my friend, who didn't like imagining the book characters the way they are portrayed in the show. He started reading from book 3 and isn't going to watch the show until he is done reading the books. Kinda makes sense I guess.
b5 - [sp]In the warlock's place, Dany sees her brother Rheagar with his wife looking over their son and he says his son will be a "song of ice and fire". You don't peg the name of the entire series to something like that without it being a very significant event. Supposedly that kid died when the Mountain 'dashed its head against a wall'. GRRM wouldn't peg the title of the series to a dead character like that and I knew instantly that the kid was alive, somewhere. Which is later revealed to be Young Griff. For the longest time, I believed Young Griff was the "prince that was promised" until Melisandre virtually said it was Jon Snow in b5[/sp]
[sp] It never said it was Reaghars wife did it? I thought it was Reaghar and a "woman". Young Griff is most likely the mummers dragon prophesied at some point, and Jon will be the prince that was promised, and his will be the song of ice and fire, which would make sense if he is indeed the son of Reaghar and Lyanna (each one representing ice and fire). I can't think of anything that would dispute that theory really. [/sp]

Watched the first season of game of thrones. Though it was awesome. Read the five books. Thought they were pretty good. Watched the first season again. My mind was constantly shouting things like 'that's so cheesy' or 'THIS IS WRONG' I also don't get some of the changes they've made in regard to sex: - added extra whores. There's whores everywhere. There are more whores than there are farmers. - The homosexuality of the knight of flowers/renly went from implied to explicit. I don't think the culture of the 7 kingdoms would allow that. ... and yet quartheen gowns don't show of a breast...

To be honest, I took a moment thinking on whether to say "his wife" or "a woman" in that post. I think it may have said "his wife" only through the perspective of Dany. Dany never met Lyanna or his wife, so she may have just assumed it was the wife. This is perfectly true, but I still belief Young Griff has something to do with the prophesy. They talked about 3 heroes, if I recall. I think the three are Jon, Young Griff and Stannis.[/sp] I'll have to reread that chapter when I find my Clash of Kings book to be sure.
Whores: Though they aren't in the books, I'm sure they're suppose to be "imagined" as part of the overall background of the story. GRRM can't mention every single whore in the background, but he has stated that there were "a lot of whorehouses in the medieval ages". Plus, HBO needs its nudity and sex. Homosexuality: The culture of the 7 kingdoms probably wouldn't allow it, but it's not like it's openly spoken about. You only see it because, as a viewer, you get a private viewing of the private lives of the characters. It was implied enough in the books, but wasn't significant to the plot so GRRM didn't outright make it in there, but as I said about the whores - HBO needs its nudity and sex.
Damn, watching this with my dad when I have read the books and he has not adds some extra drama to some scenes where I have to act nonchalant when he predicts big events such as (Big Book 3 Spoiler) [sp] during the Edmure's marriage negotiation with the Freys he was constantly commenting how Robb is obviously going to lose the war as Walder Frey is never going to forgive King Robb that easy and must planning something big.[/sp]
So Richard Madden (Robb) will play the Prince in the upcoming Cinderella movie. I don't really care but good to see (spoilers duh) [sp]he'll still be acting now that he's done with GoT[/sp]
Why would he not?
[sp]Not every actor is a successful actor and can get work[/sp]
I read book 1 in two weeks, book 2 in three weeks, book 3 in a month, book 4 took 2 months and I started book 5 in January and I'm about 3/4ths done. I wouldn't read each night, though, so this means each book probably took me a month and a half to get through. So, due to my lack of diligence as a reader, I don't remember much of the books unless it's specifically referenced. I mean, I'm not a total retard, but I tend to get a ton of stuff confused and events swapped around in my brain.
[sp]Not every actor is a successful actor and can get work[/sp]
I'm pretty sure if you can work for HBO, you can work anywhere.
I sure as hell wouldn't mind some more Emilia Clarke
Mmm yeah I need more of that eyebrow action.
Not gonna lie just about everything about her is attractive
better as a brunette
Most of the chicks in GoT are hotter outside the show
For some reason her head looks unnaturally big in that gif. It's weird.

But that's just me. Now, back to a subject that people might know about. I think it IS common knowledge that renly is gay in the series. A few lowly lanister soldiers make a joke out of it. Also, in the books renly is described as much more masculine in features- the actor just isn't. If two common levys know about it, everybody knows. Also, i don't see how a guy can become so popular if his subjects see him as an ungodly homosexual.
It's as common knowledge to the commoners as Cersei and Jaime having sex is.

Not in the sense that "burn the gays" but rather "haha that's kinda strange and embarrassing"
And no one seemed too bothered when that guy was all IM GONNA FUCK HIM INTO THE DIRT when theon was running from torture.
And no one seemed too bothered when that guy was all IM GONNA FUCK HIM INTO THE DIRT when theon was running from torture.
I thought rape was supposed to be about dominance, not love. Don't prison rapists assert that they're not gay? Anyways. stanis sent a letter around the 7 kingdoms about jamie and cersei having sex. (before that, less than a dozen people around casterly rock) That really didn't happen with renly/loras (which was a secret) but you're right. there isn't actualy a lot against homosexuals. I don't think they'd be welcome in westeros, but i'm unsure of if they'd be punnished (though i'm sure it's a different story in a few eastern cities)
