It's as common knowledge to the commoners as Cersei and Jaime having sex is.
Er, no. Not at all. The only time it's made "out in the open" is when [sp]Stannis sends those pamphlets about it all over Westeros. And even then, it's deemed only as Stannis's way of trying to make himself legitimate.[/sp]
There's no indication that any religion is really against homosexuality, but people still think it's unnatural. Not in the sense that "burn the gays" but rather "haha that's kinda strange and embarrassing"
I'm sure [sp]High Sparrow[/sp] probably has something against it, but really homosexuality isn't in the books all that much to really find a public opinion on the matter. It's only hinted at, at the best of times. There are no gay sex scenes in the book and gay sex isn't ever directly mentioned save in book 5 [sp]Victarion's maester complains to him that his sailors are "using him as a woman", but then again, those are sailors.[/sp]
i think most people at court know that loras is gay but it's like that thing that no one mentions unless it's happening right in their faces
It's interesting that they made Renly 100% gay in the television show. In the books he is, at best, bisexual. [sp]It was said during his wedding night with his queen, he was "more than willing" to do the deed.[/sp]
Not gonna lie just about everything about her is attractive
Definitely marriage material.
Most of the chicks in GoT are hotter outside the show
Netflix doesn't stream this in Finland, anyone know a good site where I could watch this?
No sites stream this, including Netflix in any country (unless you have a subscription to some cable thing, in which case you can watch it on their site).
In Finland GoT is available on HBO Nordic, C More, Yle TV2. HBO Nordic might have HBO Go.
Not his point.
His point was stupid.
no need to get hostile here
Since we're so enlightened on fedoras, other headwear and fashion... What do you all think of when it comes to the armours of the westerosi?
I think it's a little strange that every footsoldier in the lanister army has identical and elaborate plate armour. Even wildlings have uniforms. It doesn't seem correct somehow. I think martin probably invisioned the westerosi soldiers to be wearing chainmail/leather and a surcoat. The wildlings/ironborn to be wearing a massive mix of things.
That, and this helmet bugs me

What kind of heads do they have?

it's like you don't know what budget is
The armour as described in the books is pretty common of any medieval French or English army. Chainmail hauberks, studded leather jackets, padded cloth, kettle helmets, etc. for the common men, along with full plate or mail-and-plate for the nobles and some men-at-arms. The show doesn't have an unlimited budget for costumes so they had to make due, and I think they did alright. Yes, the samurai Lannisters have always pissed me off, but it's not that important. As for the Wildlings, they don't have much armour other then ragged furs and boiled leather, except for the Thenns who work a bit 'o bronze. So the Wildings wearing a smaller variety of ragged furs is alright by me.
And when it really counts, say during Blackwater, they do use a lot of costume variation. You can see a large amount of differences here;

I think it also would make sense that the relatively well-funded Lannister army would probably have more standardized armour.
Mustn't forget about boiled leather and lobstered steel.

Without any kind of production line, how much money they have wouldn't amount all that much to it I think. They would be hiring hundreds of blacksmiths with their own individual training and style to form hundreds, if not thousands, of armor pieces. Uniformity wouldn't matter much there.
It's all about the banners, anyway.
Why'd they have to turn Ramsay into a master archer? The way his fighting style is described in the books sounds amazing. He was trained by the original Reek as opposed to a master at arms so he had an unconventional style. Martin wrote that he fought more like a butcher than a soldier or something close to that.
In fact, why does the show have to try and make almost everyone seem like a master archer. Ramsay, Bronn, Arya, the Blackfish, and possibly Ygrette, she'll use a bow in upcoming episodes.
EDIT: Here's what I was looking for. From the Wiki. [sp] Ramsay, though savage in battle, was never officially taught at arms. His tutor in martial prowess was Reek, his serving man, who had never received any sword training himself. Ramsay's swordsmanship style is vicious and highly aggressive, wielding his sword as if it were a butcher's cleaver. [/sp]
Dirty Ape, you ought to tag that whole post

What about nippled breastplates? :v:
Also bear in mind most of the times you see soldiers in the series is during scenes involving royalty or nobles so it makes sense that the men guarding them, presumably the best guards in their army, all have the same uniform.

It'd be cheaper to throw a mismatch of items together than to make uniforms for the wildlings. Furthermore, many of the western armours are rather elaborate. It'd be cheaper if they just used various mails/common armour items for every character and threw a surcoat over them.
