That was such a heavy moment, I think it gave me a head ache.
SHOW [sp]fucking hell its a day later and yet I still can't get this scene out of my mind. Whatever I'm working on, it goes back to that scene.[/sp]
I thought he was well known for wielding a poison spear, also it would make sense to talk to him while he would have trouble dealing with the poison, nearly passing out.
I don't think they mention it even once in the show.
Show: [sp] You sure the guy wasn't just polishing the blade? Cus IDK, seems weird for Oberyn to put poison on a spear, when he wants the Mountain to confess.[/sp]
There is a reason he is dubbed the "Red Viper".
SHOW [sp]Goddamn they just had to add in the screaming. those screams made his death even worse than in the books.[/sp]

Show [sp]That scene with grey worm spying on women had me in fucking tears[/sp] [sp]His head sinking into water would make an excellent gif[/sp]
Show Spoilers [sp]To be honest, the worst part of the fight for me wasn't the headsplosion or the screams. What really made me sick is how the Mountain used Oberyn words while killing him. It's such a spit in the face and I just hate when shit like this happens. It makes me angry.[/sp]

Show [sp]I thought it was a nice bit of foreshadowing when Tyrion told Oberyn to wear a helmet.[/sp]

[sp]Not that this scene was easy to watch but for some reason it left a way smaller impression that the Private Ryan scene[/sp]
[sp]Not like it would have saved him[/sp] [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] Possibly the only such scene that really shocked me in a movie/tv show was the close combat scene in Private Ryan that ends on a guy getting very slowly stabbed in the chest by a knife while pleading mercy. [sp]Not that this scene was easy to watch but for some reason it left a way smaller impression that the Private Ryan scene[/sp]
Not to diverge too much from Thrones but Saving Private Ryan has been really the only film/show where the death and gore in it really affected me, like I felt like they were real people suffering. As someone who has not read the books [sp] I didn't think Oberyn would succeed because I've always had the impression that the Mountain's fate would be decided in a fight between his brother and himself (The Hound). Just didn't see it happening so there was zero tension from the get go for me. They have laid too much emphasis on the fact that The Mountain totally ruined The Hound's life.[/sp]
Show [sp]Without Oberyn is there any hope for another gay scene? Last one I remember was in like, season 1 or 2. [/sp]

Show [sp]Tyrion better escape death some how else I'll be very mad at Oberyn's revenge crying.[/sp]
do you guys think the lands of always winter will be explored more by grrm in the last couple of books? not much is known about it other than the fact that the others are probably from there and its pretty much just ice and snow
he explicitly states that in an interview i think, that we will definitely and explore the land of always winter
show [sp]i really hope cersei and tywinn get their fucking comeuppance[/sp] at SOME POINT
Book spoilers (also basically stuff that's gonna happen very soon in the show) [sp]Can't wait to see Tywin get what was coming to him.[/sp]
Honestly, for all you show watchers out there. It doesn't get any better. As a book reader, I got really fed up with the books during book 4, every time theres a chance for redemption it's just crushed effortlessly. It's incredibly boring, while at the same time still being frustrating. At this point I'm really fed up with downer endings.
books 4 and 5 are a big step down from books 1-3 imo
I can't get that scream out of my head. [sp]That fucking pop doesn't help either.[/sp]
SHOW [sp]I think the dungeon bug scene has to be the best scene in the series imo. I always like it when good shows give that kind of discussion. A good look into a specific character, and when they (what I thought) flirt with the existential stuff.[/sp]
SHOW [sp]oberyn is the most brutal death so far i've seen in any media, i laugh at weird japanese nsfw shit but this is nope [/sp]
uh, the red viper??
Yeah, but to the best of my recollection they don't say how he earned the title, so it's more of a cool moniker than anything else. It seems only book readers would be privy to that knowledge. Unless, of course, I'm to assume he's called the Red Viper because he uses poisoned spears, obviously. Also, I don't know how many people visit the GoT subreddit or any affiliated subreddits but right now they're having the same problem they had a few weeks ago where someone hacked a moderator or something and changed the design to be nothing but a big image that spoils the upcoming episodes. This is what I'm talking about [SPOILERS!!!!] I don't even know if ALL of those spoilers are real or not, but I do know that a couple are legit. Some people are cunts and love ruining things for people. Just a heads up for everyone who goes there so it doesn't happen to you. It's too late for me. :suicide:

BOOK [sp] When Oby dies Tyrion immediately vomits his breakfast and starts laughing maniacally[/sp]
Show/Book [sp]I have to admit, the ending was great, even more brutal to see on screen than reading it in the books. It made me so sad though, I connected with shows Oberyn more than I did in the books. [/sp] Books [sp]Sadly I agree with whoever said earlier that nothing good is going to happen, its true. So little "good" things happen that its not even funny. Maybe the Cersei thing, thats about it. Hopefully we will get a little bit of redemption in winds of winter, ie. Victarion, taking back of Winterfell, Sansa should start pulling some strings, Jon's fate reveal, Bran's story explained, redemption from Theon, Dany perhaps growing some balls and so on.)[/sp]
