Im glad that I just watched episode 9 today, considering I have a presentation, a paper, a lab report, and a final all to finish between now and Friday and I cannot focus on anything cause my mind keeps going back to the scene.
I think it's more the fact that it had to follow Book 3 where fucking everything happened
Funnily enough I think I may have liked book 4 more than 3. [sp]I liked the Brienne and Jaime chapters. I dunno if giving POV characters is considered book spoilers or not so I'm just gonna tag it to be sure[/sp]
were those in book 4? I don't even remember what happened when anymore maybe I should reread them
I just can't wait until we get the answer. SHOW [sp]The pilar or the stones? Or both?[/sp]
book [sp] Jaime? Arya? Cersei? Sam? Sansa? Arys? Asha? Victarion? [/sp]
Out of that long list, only [sp]the Greyjoys really had me pushing through the book.[/sp]
Out of that long list, only [sp]the Greyjoys really had me pushing through the book.[/sp]
[sp]The Greyjoy chapters were also weirdly enough the bane of my read through. I really had the urge to just skip through all of their chapters because for some reason I can't stand the Greyjoys or any single aspect of them. I dunno what the hell is wrong with me.[/sp] [editline]5th June 2014[/editline]
were those in book 4? I've been thinking about starting to read the books, but I'm afraid they won't be as interesting considering I've followed the series already and will have all the big stuff spoiled for me. Anyone that has watched the series before starting on the books, were the books still worth reading afterwards?
Anyone that has watched the series before starting on the books, were the books still worth reading afterwards?
I can only speak for the first book as I watched the first series before reading it (for the others I read and then watched on tv). I did honestly find the book a bit trivial knowing exactly what was going to happen, but I also think this might be less true for later books - the first series sticks pretty closely to the book plot but later shows have had to change/cut a lot of it, and in addition to appreciating the worldbuilding and writing ability in reading the books you'll probably find it's much better read than watched. (you also might as well read them all so you can pick up properly from where the tv show left off as their time-frames are really out of sync with the book now) Interested to see if someone who read all the books after watching agrees with me though.
I don't think watching the show invalidates the books in any way, the prose is still enjoyable and I've read some novels just for the enjoyable prose. I suppose I'm not qualified to answer the specific question though, I started reading the series in like 2004 or 2005
I started with the books during the wait between season one and two, so technically I only read the first book where I already knew what was happening, but it didn't bother me at all. There's so much more going on, much better world-building, and you get entirely different perspectives on things. Plus all the flashbacks. Loads and loads of stuff that the show simply doesn't deliver on. Book spoilers: [sp]Yet. They will probably start doing flashbacks once Bran gets uploaded into the weirwoodweb. It would be a neat way of seamlessly introducing flashbacks to the series, especially considering how many of them are foreshadowing events yet to come in the books. Flashbacks are becoming relevant now that the show is getting there. It would also give Bran loads of interesting filler.[/sp]

Anyone that has watched the series before starting on the books, were the books still worth reading afterwards?
I read the books after watching the first two seasons of the show. My opinion is that seeing the show first does not spoil the book reading experience. This is because the books go into so much more depth, as books often do. Reading this story is a rich experience that you can't get any other way. Meanwhile, reading the books doesn't really spoil the show either. Yes you'll know the main things that are going to happen, but the show offers more. It's incredibly entertaining watching this cast act out the story. For instance, Tyrion is a great character in the book, but watching Dinklage play him justifies watching the show, he's that good. Ordinarily I would have waited till the show was over to read the books, but in this case I don't think it makes sense because the book series isn't over. In fact, it looks like it won't be over for years. That being the case, you might as well read them now since even if you read them all you won't know how this show ends.

Guess I'll be ordering some books then!

That is a really good run for a TV show imo.
Thats 3-4 seasons left, with 4-5 massive books left. Uh, okay.
Show [sp]When Oberyn was doing all that fancy shit with his spear or whatever it is, I was expecting something similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mur-c5IiWJI [/sp]

Game of Thrones has officially surpassed The Sopranos for HBO. Season Four has averaged 18.4 million viewers.
Good. They deserve every fucking penny and viewer. I wonder how the book sales have done, like sales before show vs sales after show
Tiny show spoilers http://imgur.com/gallery/it9NC One of the extras playing a Lannister guard posted a bunch of pics from his time on the GoT set. Apparently a cat just casually made its way through the set when they were shooting the big fight scene :v:

The tiers also have some cool goodies if you feel like supporting a good cause and getting cool swag at the same time.
