I'll be honest, I was kinda hoping for something slightly more reminiscent of Bob and Harold from Fallout :(
BOOK/SHOW [sp]Many months ago it was revealed they used extensive prosthetics for Leaf, but they must have changed their mind last minute.[/sp]
show finale [sp]why, though. the CoF and three eyed raven reveal was easily the most disappointing reveal yet. it just looked so fake, from the fireballs to the old weirdo in the tree. where is this guy? http://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/0/05/Close_up_TEC_Marc_Simonetti.jpg[/sp] [sp]stanni's arrival at the wall was perfectly executed, on the other hand.[/sp]
I didn't see the episode, did Bran [sp]meet the Children of the Forest? If so, is there any photos of them? I'm curious how they made them look.[/sp]
Imagine a slightly higher-budget school nativity play.
I have a feeling we'll still see [sp] Lady Stoneheart [/sp] but not until next season. I'd be OK with that, but the having the reveal at the end of the finale would have knocked it out of the fucking park.
BOOK spoilers above and below [sp]As a show watcher I had no idea who Lady Stoneheart was and as an avid googler i had to fucking google it. Thanks. Don't worry, I'm surprisingly not that mad at all.[/sp]
BOOK spoilers above and below [sp]As a show watcher I had no idea who Lady Stoneheart was and as an avid googler i had to fucking google it. Thanks.[/sp]
No sympathy;he was obviously talking about a book character... otherwise you'd know who they were... He revealed no plot point whatsoever. Unless you're not really angry at him in which cause I take back my ungentlemanly tone c:
show [sp]i love it when Bran takes over Hodor and he goes fucking mental. Brianne vs Hound was also really good, sad the Hound lost though, I really started to like him.[/sp] [sp]i should stop liking characters, whenever i do they die within a few episodes[/sp]
[SHOW] [sp]When the 3 eyed raven said to Bran that he would fly, would that have anything to do with his warg abilities and the current dragon flying loose?[/sp]
No sympathy;he was obviously talking about a book character... otherwise you'd know who they were... He revealed no plot point whatsoever. Unless you're not really angry at him in which cause I take back my ungentlemanly tone c:
I have really bad memory, i wouldn't know if it was a show character or not specially considering the amount of characters. :suicide: The spoiler is so interesting that it overcame the anger of getting spoiled.
[SHOW] [sp]When the 3 eyed raven said to Bran that he would fly, would that have anything to do with his warg abilities and the current dragon flying loose?[/sp]
As soon as he said [sp]"but, you'll fly"[/sp] I kept trying to picture it. Is it gonna be [sp]Superman style? Yoga style? Harry Potter ghost style?[/sp]
[SHOW] [sp]When the 3 eyed raven said to Bran that he would fly, would that have anything to do with his warg abilities and the current dragon flying loose?[/sp]
Show [sp]Could be wrong, but I guess Bran's the chosen one to take over that guy's 'job' and be the new 3 eyed raven?[/sp]
BOOK (Bran spoilers) [sp] In case anyone's wondering, there's not much of Bran's storyline left in the books; but he's going to be taught to enter a raven. Personally I feel like he'll warg into the dragons as part of the ASOIAF climax since that'll be a satisfying way for Bran to fit into the grand scheme of things. [/sp]
Show [sp]Could be wrong, but I guess Bran's the chosen one to take over that guy's 'job' and be the new 3 eyed raven?[/sp]
show [sp], Maybe, if that's the case I'm guessing he could take control of things that are anywhere in the world and he has no need to move from that rooty throne. He should wreck shit up with the dragon.[/sp]
(SHOW) [sp]Bran's storyline just got a hell of a lot more interesting.[/sp]
My thoughts on the finale. [sp]That was a really great episode, I was really enjoyable and I got really immersed. Although the final episode lacks a climax or real conclusion, it would have been nice to have some closure on certain characters or events. There are still a lot of things left unexplained and really open. The episode started really strong with Jon and Mance in the tent, it was really intense. Although Mance was pretty easily defeated and it was all over in a few minutes. It's kind of lame considering that they hyped his army up. Where is his army anyway? Nevertheless it was pretty great. The scenes about Cersei were actually really good this time around, I really enjoyed these scenes and she was portrayed in a believable manner. She wasn't just a utter dumb bitch like usual. The Daenerys part was my least favorite part of this episode. I don't know but I don't give two shits about her. All the events surrounding her feel so distant and not well shown, you usually get the same scene every episode just with different characters. Also the scene where she chains up her dragons is probably supposed to be really emotional and moving but I find it hard to sympathize with her or the dragons because we seldom see their relationship or anything about them. Altough the episode really kicked back when they showed the journey of Bran, it was pretty amazing to be honest and it gave me some goosebumps. The skeletons were really great, the effects looked pretty amazing. The emphasis on fantasy was a really nice touch. The Brienne and Clegane scene was marvelous, I didn't expect it to be so brutal at first. It's actually really ridiculous when you think about their motivations and mission, there was no need to get this hostile. How Clegane really got fond of Arya was touching. But it just made it all more twisted. The fight between Clegane and Brienne was brutal and dirty, the scenery was pretty breath taking. The last part where Clegane lies broken on the ground begging and trying to convince Arya to kill him was pretty moving. Although I don't get why she leaves him to die so miserably there. The final part where Tyron takes his revenge and escapes was totally unexpected, I was shocked and speechless for most part. This actually applies to the whole episode, a lot of outcomes and events turned way different than I initially expected. That is really the aspect that makes this episode so amazing, so many unexpected things. Also the soundtrack really stood out to me this time, I don't know but it was so fitting for every scene. Especially during the fight between Brienne and Clegane. The only thing that I feel is missing is a conclusion to some characters and events. We're left without any explanations and some characters don't even appear at all in this episode, perhaps some closure could have been nice. There are many open questions and it's pretty open ended. I guess that's normal when your show is about tons of characters scattered all around the world, it's hard to really create a climax. Nevertheless it was just amazing, the actors did so well. Especially Twyn and Clegane.[/sp]
So I was also pretty upset/surprised by the Tyrion/Jaime conversation being entirely absent in this finale. SHOW [sp] I mean with the absence of this dialogue I felt like Tyrion had next to no reason to turn around and kill Tywin, and as has been pointed out that it suggests he was planning the murder all along [/sp] So I thought I'd put it up here so non-book readers can have a chance to understand what people are complaining about and the importance of what didn’t take place/how it changes relationships. The below is the scene in ASOS2 that was shown in s4e10, it is technically a book spoiler, but since the show has already taken a different route I feel show watchers can read it without worrying – but you have been warned, read at your own discretion. [sp] “Thank you brother,” Tyrion said. “For my life.” “It was ... a debt I owed you.” Jaime’s voice was strange. “A debt?” He cocked his head. “I do not understand.” “Good. Some doors are best left closed.” “Oh dear,” said Tyrion. “Is there something grim and ugly behind it? Could it be that someone said something cruel about me once? I’ll try not to weep. Tell me.” “Tyrion…” Jaime is afraid. “Tell me,” Tyrion said again. His brother looked away. “Tysha,” he said softly. “Tysha?” His stomach tightened. “What of her?” “She was no whore. I never bought her for you. That was a lie that Father commanded me to tell. Tysha was…she was what she seemed to be. A crofter’s daughter, change met on the road.” Tyrion could hear the faint sound of his own breath whistling hollowly through the scar of his nose. Jaime could not meet his eyes. Tysha. He tried to remember what she had looked like. A girl, she was only a girl, no older than Sansa. “My wife,” he croaked. “She wed me.” “For your gold, Father said. She was lowborn, you were a Lannister of Casterly Rock. All she wanted was the gold, which made her no different from a whore, so…so it would not be a lie, not truly, and… he said that you required a sharp lesson. That you would learn from it, and thank me later…” “Thank you?” Tyrion’s voice was choked. “He gave her to his guards. A barracks full of guards. He made me… watch.” Aye, and more than watch. I took her too… my wife… “I never knew he would do that. You must believe me.” “Oh, must I?” Tyrion snarled. “Why should I believe you about anything, ever? She was my wife!” “Tyrion-“ He hit him. It was a slap, backhanded, but he put all his strength into it, all his fear, all his rage, all his pain. Jaime was squatting, unbalanced. The blow sent him tumbling backward to the floor. “I… suppose I earned that.” “Oh, you’ve earned more than that Jaime. You and my sweet sister and our loving father, yes, I can’t begin to tell you what you’ve earned. But you’ll have it, that I swear to you. A Lannister always pays his debts.” [/sp] --- few moments later, conversation continues, but some future plot points not yet in the show for Jaime and Cersei are hinted at here, if that sounds remotely worrying to you as a spoiler maybe give this second section a miss --- [sp] Jaime handed him the ring of keys. “I gave you the truth. You owe me the same. Did you do it? Did you kill him?” The question was another knife, twisting in his guts. “Are you sure you want to know?” asked Tyrion. “Joffrey would have been a worse king than Aerys ever was. He stole his father’s dagger and gave it to a footpad to slit the throat of Brandon Stark, did you know that?” “I… I thought he might have.” “Well, a son takes after his father. Joff would have killed me as well, once he came into his power. For the crime of being short and ugly, of which I am so conspicuously guilty.” “You have not answered my question.” “You poor stupid blind crippled fool. Must I spell every little thing out for you? Very well. Cersei is a lying whore, she’s been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy, for all I know. And I am the monster they all say I am. Yes, I killed your vile son.” He made himself grin. It must have been a hideous sight to see, there in the torchlit gloom. Jaime turned without a word and walked away. Tyrion watched him go, striding on his long strong legs, and part of him wanted to call out, to tell him that it wasn’t true, to beg for his forgiveness. But then he thought of Tysha, and he held his silence. [/sp]

SHOW [sp] maybe it's just me, but I didn't really care about the part with bran in the finale versus the rest of the episode. Also I really liked the hound/brienne fight but I felt like the amount of camera cuts they did was kind of distracting[/sp]

It was really short considering that they talked about this massive unstoppable army. But we got enough battle for this season when you look at the siege of the wall.
Am i the only one who liked the last scene? It was so heart warming.
So how far is the show into the books now?
show [sp], Maybe, if that's the case I'm guessing he could take control of things that are anywhere in the world and he has no need to move from that rooty throne.
Spoiler-free comparison with the books http://i.imgur.com/lceExOP.jpg
Ok, so the show covered most of the first three books, and a few bits from the next two. At least plenty of material for another season next year.
Alright, this is slightly off topic but has anyone else found it weird that when we're cut to a Dany scene and she's seeing people of the city they always give her that long ass title for the first person we see come up to her but then they don't do it anymore? Like she has to have seen other people before we see her, right? Do they only say that long ass title on every other visitor or what?
Damn the more I'm reading up on how they screwed up this episode from a Book POV makes me want to watch it less and less. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] BOOK [sp]I mean Stoneheart could've been the greatest cliffhanger on the show yet they showed Arya on a boat, what a tease that river shot that was[/sp] [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] BOOK [sp]Also wonder how they'll handle Arya changing her face[/sp]
book [sp]Joffrey's death was originally supposed to be the finale of season 3, but they changed their mind and set it to S04E02 instead. Chill out, LS will show up.[/sp]
I was hoping that HBO would tip their hat to Sam Raimi

Speculative book spoilers [sp]I've been thinking about where the books are going, and they need another Red Wedding, but like, a reverse red wedding, where a large number of evil characters are killed. Wyman Manderly would be the perfect person to do this. Right now, the books have shown us that while nobody is safe, evil characters are a lot safer than good characters.[/sp]

Yes, he's shown hes arrogant, and he also has no idea yet of what it means to be a ruler, but Danaerys has the wrong idea of how to be a ruler, which is far worse. Furthermore, he received excellent training on how to be a king from Jon Connington unlike Danaerys, who had to learn it all herself, and thus, learned a lot of the wrong things.[/sp]
