Book 5 and future speculation [sp]Yeah I guess, but he's totally a Blackfyre. Plus I'm still fairly sure Jon is going to be legitimized after being revived and become the Lord of Winterfell, and marry Daenarys (Ice and Fire), and then they'll take the throne and throw Aegon's Bittersteel-descendant ass into the Narrow Sea where he belongs[/sp]

Book spoilers [sp]I don't get the hate for Blackfyre's, they're smart as fuck. Way moreso than the Targaryens.
First, they wage a war from nothing, and come close to winning. Next, when that fails, they go into hiding for a hundred fucking years, and get the smartest men in the world to join their cause (Including Varys), and slowly amass a force that is able to start to conquer westeros. (Assuming that Aegon is a blackfyre).
Plus, if Jon gets "Legitimized" hes still a bastard and the new Targaryens would be of bastard descent anyway. How is that any different than Aegon being legitimized?[/sp]
You know what was even more disappointing?
How (Show spoilers that differed from book) [sp]Jaime fucked Cersei in the Kingsguard's chambers. Like oh my God, he straight up shoved the White Book aside and mounted her right on the Round Table.[/sp]
Book spoilers [sp]Jaime still has bits of love for Cersei at the end of ASOS. So it's not a major differentiation. It's only once cersei becomes the new ruler of westeros after tywin dies that Jaime is like "Fuck this bitch"
I am sad about this not being included. "Cersei is a lying whore, she's been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know"[/sp]

Book 5, lore, and speculation [sp]The Blackfyres weren't in hiding, Bittersteel and his exiles were quite open and clear about where they went. They founded the Golden Company and spent a hundred years fighting for the Free Cities in their petty disputes. Maelys the Monstrous, last of the male Blackfyres, invaded the Stepstones, islands just off the coast of Dorne, and was killed by Barristan Selmy during the reign of Aerys II's father Jaeharys. At no point were the in hiding, nor were they slowly amassing forces. The Golden Company was made up of the exiled supporters of Daemon Blackfyre.
Nor did they wage their rebellion from nothing. They were all legitimized bastards of Aegon the Unworthy, many were noble bastards who brought the houses of their mothers into the war. Bittersteel was a bastard of Aegon and some Bracken woman which led Stone Hedge to declare for Daemon Blackfyre.[/sp]

[sp]I never said anything about his legitimacy? The Blackfyres are usurpers, no different from Robert Baratheon or Aegon II, except that they have never succeeded[/sp]

You must remember though, the dragon has three heads.

Speculation based on above [sp]That would sort-of fit the War of the Roses theme the series has, as in real life Henry Tudor of the Lancastrians married Elizabeth of York once he killed Richard III at Bosworth. To be entirely accurate. I don't think there are any Lannister women of a suitable age for him to marry? Unless Tyrion, Jaime, Tommen or some other Lannister marries Sansa, which I don't see happening.[/sp]

Speculation based on book five [sp]Yeah I suppose so, I guess the Targaryens will play the part of the Tudors (Though likely without murdering all of the previous dynasty), which is weird because the pre-Baratheon Targaryens seem to have a heavy Plantagenet vibe, as well as the preceding Normans.
But the series isn't one hundred percent Wars of the Roses, might be a huge unexpected twist that has no real world connotations
Edit: Missed the Lannister bit, yeah unless he marries some Lannister from Lannisport there are none left. Though House Lannister is constantly remarked as large and fertile, so who knows??[/sp]
I just realised that I said I don't see BOOK/TV [sp]Tyrion and Sansa[/sp] marrying. D'oh!
Show [sp] I can't be the only one that laughed my ass off at Jojen's death, am I? [/sp]

I'm with you.
SHOW | [sp]Seriously, it's like every post-Oberyn death is funny now.[/sp]
[Finale] [sp]All I know is, the Children are MLG-skilled with the plasma grenade[/sp]
Book [sp]Everyone knows the book will end with a clash of epic proportions between Dany's dragons and Tommen's cats. And the cats are gonna win.[/sp]
Book [sp]Ser Pounce is the King that should have been, he will be better than them all[/sp]
Does anyone know where to start on a Feast For Crows after only watching the show? I don't really want to read the entire thing as I know the majority of the stuff, but lets say last couple episodes? Where would be a decent starting point page-wise?
Show s04e10 [sp]Is it just me or was this episode really shitty. Skellington fight looked bad and lacked tension, plasma grenades, The Hound, Arya and Brienne conveniently run into eachother in the fields, abrubt and unrewarding end to Hound/Arya relationship, Tywins death was lame and felt like fanservice. Several of the scenes were so akward I found myself laughing. I don't really having anything to look forward in next season, except for the Sansa/Littlefinger relationship.[/sp]
[sp]Also: Daenerys lifting massive steel chains in obviously fake manner, extremely cringey implied poetry of the breaker of chains chaining her dragons but chaining a dangerous animal isn't slavery. Abrupt, convinient end to massively built-up wildling conflict.[/sp]

Be realistic. My friends have told me it is okay to continue, I don't really want to read the other books as I don't have the time to, I'd rather get them all read before next season, so if you can actually help that'd be great too.
Put it this way - I don't want to read the other books. If I HAD to start on this book where would you recommend I started?

Start from Book 1 like sanitarium said. Theres bits in the books that never made it into the show.
Book 1 spoiler [sp] When Ned got stabbed, he had a dream of his sister and how she died.[/sp] This never happened in the show, which is a shame.

It's really tough to do it the way you want because the show has told the story chronologically, while the books don't always do that. So bits of different books get combined with each other on the show, especially this last season. You can't really tell someone "Start on page...of Feast for Crows" as if you could just start reading there and follow along.
Read the books, or get them on Audiobook. Roy Dotrice is the narrator, and he does over 500 voices capturing each character. Absolutely fantastic. I get through about two chapters a day on my drive to and from work, and even more depending on leisure drives and going on walks.

If you're just reading to know where the plot goes, then the ASOIAF wiki is what you want.
Otherwise. P1,GOT
I still haven't gotten around to reading the soiaf books yet, does anyone know how much the tv show is catching up to the books? Itd be pretty horrible if the director deviats with his own continuation of the story
All 5 books are like 20 bucks on the google play bookstore.
Just get that abd read it on trips, in class, at work, ect.
The big problem I have with the GoT book is how extensive they are, way past my breaking point. Some moments are just excruciatingly dragged on, taking pages at a time to describe what could have been summed up in a paragraph with no importance lost.
its all about the atmosphere and setting up the scene
and also describing LOTS of food and lemon cakes.
and reznak mo reznak
don't forget strong belwas, the best character of them all.
don't forget strong belwas, the best character of them all.
Along with 80% of the Greyjoys.
Saw someone predict that by the end of season 5 BOOKS [sp]Balon will be alive and Catelyn still dead[/sp]

Roy Dotrice's Reek is hilarious.
