So, the 5-book ebook bundle is $20 on Amazon right now.
Apparently it's just one big file, instead of every book being their own one. Is it still worth it?
Yeah absolutely.
with ebooks it doesn't really matter since the first few pages should have links to all the books
(SHOW) [sp]I don't know why but somewhere I hope we'll get to see Ser Jorah Mormont and Ser Barristan Selmy duel it out over Daenerys' favour.[/sp]
Yeah I guess. U read that it's just going to mess up the paging, meaning that the 200th page of the second book is not the 200th page in the bundle and will take you to the first book, so you have to add the pages of the first book or something like that.
yeah but page counts on digital devices dont really mean anything, as you can use a larger or smaller font if you wish
S4E9: that was pretty shit. I read the books and all so I was expecting something different (better), but even if i hadn't read the books I'd still feel it shit because...
[sp] There are 102 black brothers in the beginning. However, about that amount die. Seriously they're dying left and right. Let's completely forget that these guys are hardened men who are well trained whilst the wildlings are an experienced yet untrained rabble. By the end of it there must have been about 6 crows in castle black. I understand that they want Tormund, ygritte and the magnar to be badass; but they took it a bit too far. [/sp]
[sp] The battle on top of the wall was silly shit. The giant with a bow was odd. the exploding caskets a little out of place. The chain thing just didn't belong at all. Climbing a wall that high with crows above would have a 0% survival rate; half of them would fall to their death without help from arrows. the ones who didn't fall would be killed by arrows. If any ever got to the top they'd be sparse and tired and completely helpless. [/sp]
The only thing I liked about this whole episode that [sp] Alliser Thorne became respectable[/sp]
FFS, the price of the bundle rose by $5 while I was waiting for a better reception on my phone (I'm on a train).
Just watched the finale. That was some good shit.
SHOW [sp]so now that the hound and oberyn are dead, the mountain is incapacitated and Jamie is missing his good hand, does this mean Briene is the greatest fighter in all of westeros?[/sp]
Show [sp]In the show Brienne beat Jaime and Sandor Clegane before they had their ailments, granted, Jaime was handcuffed, but he was still whupped way too hard. I'd say that Brienne was probably the best fighter in westeros before, if not the second best, next to Jaime.
Also, stop saying that the Hound is dead, we haven't seen him die yet, so it's entirely possible he's still alive.[/sp]
Book spoilers [sp]Also, I just realized, remember when Brienne meets up with the Gravedigger, that's gonna be fun to see them meet up AGAIN![/sp]

[sp] When jamie fought brienne he was starving and had been locked up in a tiny shit-cage for quite some time. I don't realy think that's a fair fight. [/sp]
Best fighter in westeros is clearly [sp]Meryn Trant [/sp]
Books I guess [sp]Loras and Garlan Tyrell could stab the shit out of Brienne[/sp]
Books I guess [sp]Loras and Garlan Tyrell could stab the shit out of Brienne[/sp]
Show spoilers. [sp]I dont know if you remember this, but literally the FIRST TIME we see Brienne she's beating the shit out of Loras. Maaaybe Garlan, but probably not.
Everyone always forgets to mention Brienne, but she's almost certainly in the top five fighters in westeros, behind Barristan.[/sp]
So what's the ranking?
Two-Handed-Jaime
Brienne
Hound
Barristan
Oberyn
Mountain
Syrio Forel
Bronn
Thoros
Merryn Trant
Loras
Jon snuh?
Ned??
Younger King Robert?
It's a shame most of these characters will never fight each other, because pairing any name on the list with any other name on the list would be a cool af fight
The ASOIAF wiki really helped clear up some things for me that I didn't understand while reading the books

Isn't Sir Barriston a really good fighter? It's a shame that his kung fu action with his staff/big stick didn't make it into the show
How I'd rank them, with notes
Berristan- experienced with history of kicking ass
Two-Handed-Jaime- when healthy and full strength only
Oberyn- even when he loses he still kills you
Syrio Forel- probably more pure skills than anyone
Ned- skills, sword, and disciplined
Mountain- big guy, not much else going for him...but he IS huge
Bronn- good all around fighter, not above playing dirty
Loras- skilled but no doubt overmatched by top fighters for one reason or another
Younger King Robert- brute force with a love for combat
Hound- brute force with a kryptonite weakness
Brienne- good fighter who will beat most men...MOST men, not all, not the best at their best
Jon snow- he's gotten owned plenty of times
Thoros- needs to prove something
Merryn Trant- I bet Brienne would make him cry
Now rate them for their lovemaking skills.

podrick payne
-
everyone else
podrick payne

the tripod takes no prisoners
Oberyn would have brought Pod to his knees...or Oberyn would have been on his knees...all I know is kneeling would have been involved. Spearing too, now that I think of it.

what would you note jaqen
I'd put him above or equal to Oberyn
what would you note jaqen
Assassin ≠ fighter
what would you note jaqen
Jaqen is equal to Syrio of course.
Id put the mountain a little further up the list
The only reason the mountain lost to oberyn was because oberyn was fast and used a spear, he relied on not getting hit. Pretty much everyone else on that list uses the conventional heavy armor and sword, with slight variations (sheild, wah hammah, ect.). Most, if not all of which would get torn into itty bitty pieces in a fight with the mountain.
Rhaegar Targaryen should be up there.
Brienne is better than loras as she beat the shit out of him, also better than the hound.
Younger Robert was a good enough fighter to win a kingdom.
Jaqen is equal to Syrio of course.
Syrio trained to be a water dancer, Jaqen trained to be a faceless man. Both are good at what they do, but I don't think Jaqen could beat him head on.
I think it's crazy that next season the show will overtake the book, or if not then, the season after it.
I mean, already we're past all of ASOS, and we have three seasons left for four books, two of which are unreleased, GRRM was even talking about an eighth book, so that'd be three unreleased.
That'd mean they're probably condensing AFFC and ADWD into one season, so season 6 and 7 will beat the books.
Pretty fucking crazy. I hope we get at least TWOW next year, so we just have one book to be spoiled.
Young Bobby B Baratheon should be in the top three, but then we might as well include Barry Stan in his prime, Whent, Dayne, Hightower and the rest of the old Kingsguard. If it's a book list Ned wouldn't even make it.
Syrio is a bit of an unknown, his only fight against a proper knight went badly even if he didn't have a sword. And it was Meryn FUCKING Trant no less.

By saying they were equal I was alluding to the theory that they are the same guy. Too subtle I guess.
