s4... [sp] Dario kills a horse with a knife throw. I'm fairly sure Martin gave a knife throw scene to arya in the books just to show how silly throwing knives are[/sp]
Silly how?
throwing knives are the worst weapons ever for anything other than looking cool, it's p much impossible to get them to stick on something without knowing how far away that thing is and even if they hit you point first they'd just leave a little surface cut, if anything, and just bounce off [editline]20th June 2014[/editline] http://escapepod.org/2011/12/04/myth-deadly-throwing-knives/

It's not "p much impossible" for daario to get a throw at the right time to stick it. Are we going pick that facet of the whole GoT series to stop suspending any disbelief?
Didn't Daario hit the horse in the eye?
SHOW [sp]Yeah, he did. To be fair though, it was moving straight at him, and he hit it from a distance that couldn't have been more than 15 feet. He kissed the knife before throwing it (rewatched the scene) which I think was to indicate that this isn't close to the first time he's thrown that knife. [/sp] Daario seems like the exact kind of person who would intimately learn something like knife throwing just because it makes you look badass if you actually manage to land a hit on an opponent.
also, it's not entirely unrealistic within the reason of the Ice and Fire world for Lannister soldiers to have uniform armor sets, considering the family has (general spoilers) [sp]had[/sp] lodsegold and p. much runs the continent's industries
In the books Lannister men are described as wearing red cloaks and tunics, with halfhelms crested in tiny golden lions. BUT those are Lannister household men, the average man-at-arms would almost certainly be armoured in more or less random bits of leather, plate, and mail. It's just that the Lannisters can afford larger households than anyone else. The Stark household men are described as wearing grey cloaks with a fur trim, mail hauberks and coifs, in case you want to know
The lanister army isn't entirely composed of lanisters though. Most of the army is composed of minor houses.
Here's a shitty example of what I mean, for Lannisters and Starks Hardly the best way to demonstrate it but it's the first thing that came to mind [editline]20th June 2014[/editline] fucking jack
I've got an pretty outlandish theory. Half way through A Storm of Swords, so book readers sorry if I'm completely wrong. s4 [sp]The three eyed raven at the end of the last episode that Bran talked to is the lord of light. Well not really, but he's pretending to be. He's become so powerful that he can warg into any living creature in the world, as well as temporarily send his greensight visions to others. That's how Stannis and Melisandre are able to see visions in the fire. So he's been manipulating Melisandre and Stannis in order to maintain the war. If the war had never started, Bran would never be allowed to leave with Jojen and Meera to become the three eyed ravens replacement. The war also lead Stannis to venture to the wall to stop the wildlings and somehow aid in preventing the white walkers taking over. Basically the entire war is just a series of events leading up to stopping the white walkers and Bran taking over the role of Lord of Light. Just trying to work out how he could have healed Beric though.[/sp]

I was kinda thinking ( spoilers about the whole series as a general thing, not specific plot points) [sp] melisandre is sort of right, There are two gods. One of fire and one of ice and they're fighting. The fire-god may or may not be evil. Anyhow; the old gods aren't realy gods, they're just magical trees that are good for warging. Mankind and the trees stand in the middle of the godly war. [/sp]
come to think of it, (show) [sp]how did stannis know to come to the wall? did he get a vision or advice from melisandre? maybe he did and I forgot but that confused me for a while. how did he even get past the wall?[/sp]
re-watching season 3. Is it me or is Daario's first actor just so much better?
IIRC SHOW [sp]The Night's Watch sent letters around and Davos showed it to Stannis and Mel surprisingly agreed with Davos to go to The Wall and boom he sailed immediately and was the only one who showed up all in all Stannis the Mannis is the true king[/sp]
Show [sp]Yepp, that's it. Davos found a letter and gave it to Stannis. The Mannis was skeptical at first but Milesandre convinced him to go. The idea was he couldn't become the king to save the kingdom, he would have to save the kingdom to become the king. It was all the way back in season 3 as well, so I'm not surprised everyone's forgotten.[/sp]
re-watching season 3. Is it me or is Daario's first actor just so much better?
I think the first Daario was sexier in that bad boy who gets what he wants even though he's a douchebag kind of way. The second one is boring compared to him. Not that I'm attracted to either of them, I watch the show for the hot chicks. edit: Here's a chart for people who might want to start reading certain parts of the books that match the show. link, it's a 2mb jpg, and I supppose this is a BOOK/SHOW spoiler
re-watching season 3. Is it me or is Daario's first actor just so much better?
idk if his actor was better but it kinda felt like the first guy fit the character better.
they have ups and downs on each other i suppose
well the fact that they both don't have book-tier beards is a little disappointing, but the first guy I felt was more Daario since he had longer hair at least and looked smugger
personally I find daario 2.0 a lot more attractive, version 1's long hair was kinda gross and he had weirdly smooth skin the new actor also reminds me of Desmond (Lost) with the hair and beard, which is a plus acting ability, eh, we haven't seen very much of either actor on screen. they've been present, combined, in only around six episodes for minutes at a time. I get a better feeling from Daario the Second, though
if daario 2.0 had been in from the start he'd probably have been a better daario than 1.0 under the same circumstances but i'd gotten used to 1.0 by the end of s3, and the change from 1.0 to 2.0 was so jarring that i never really adapted. he just felt like a different character entirely
Daario 1.0 felt like the right choice for the right character. Daario 2.0 feels like he'd fit more as the prince from prince of persia than as a ruthless yet somewhat talented mercenary who'd kill his colleagues in the name of a pretty face.
I do like how the first actor radiated the whole suave yet cut-throat mercenary
I haven't read the books so I can't compare with the original but for me Daario was in the show so little I didn't mind the change. Plus the first one looked kind of weird.
For Daario I always imagined the presenter from the talk show in the Hunger Games but with a trident beard. Maybe it was the mention of blue hair that made me think that.
the first one looked more exotic and foreign than the second who just looks like generic white dude
Daario 1.0 feels like a creepy 70's pornstar to me.
Hey guys it is Sunday, we all know what that means. oh wait.... =(
