dude that's the big reveal
he's joffrey stark
Benjen spoilers [sp]You literally hear nothing about him after he goes on the ranging in AGoT. He might be Coldhands.[/sp]
Either that or (similar spoilers) [sp]he's the original Night's King. Leaf I think mentions he's REALLY old, older than Benjen at least.[/sp]

I found it suspicious [sp]that his face was never revealed. Felt like it was Benjen hiding his identity. Though, given that he's dead, it could just be hiding his decayed face.[/sp]
Book 4/5 spoilers
[sp] I liked the foreshadowing in the show with Arya, when she said her god was death. [/sp]

[sp] I don't feel like enough is known about Coldhands for us to make the call on who he really is, in fact I would like to find out how he became a, basically sentient white walker more than I care who he is, I think that is much more important in the story [/sp]
Yeah so when I asked if major characters do continue to die in the books I didn't want somebody to actually tell me who haha. Already have a major death ruined.
Just to make myself feel better though.
MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH SPOILER
[sp]I read that Jeoffry dies, and I was pretty pissed I read that, however, with a yes or no answer, can somebody say if that is the big death that makes book 3 amazing or is there other stuff coming up that I can look forward to?[/sp]

[sp]cant say it's one death in particular, a lot of main characters die in book 3 and that's what makes it amazing[/sp]

That's all I wanted to know thanks. Just thought I ruined the whole big part of season 3 by having that spoiled for me

[sp]also depends if joffreys wedding actually happens in this season or the next, book 3 will span two seasons[/sp]
Fucking Christ dead horse here but clarify if you guys are talking about the books or the show. Fuck I'm mad right now.
Season 3 spoiler [sp]The last few minutes of this weeks episode had me on the edge of my seat. I was pleasantly surprised that everything "worked out" with Brienne. I was imagining the worst before it showed her fighting Smokey the bear, even though that was brutal. Give her a bigger stick at least. :V[/sp]

[sp]I feel he's too unique to be a new character and the hiding of his identity is suspicious.[/sp]
I've still got this weird theory on syrio. We assume he's dead, but neither book nor tv series showed that such a thing happened.
Anyways.
Dancing master is just a cover for him to be based in the city.
lanisters attack when he's training with arya.
Shows that he's a faceless man
as a valued prisoner, gets taken to the black cells.
becomes jaqen.
Joins nights watch to get out.
Becomes a different character (book 4) [sp]'alchemist'
Has potential work in maesters citadel.
kills a training maester, takes his face (prologue).
Is one of the characters sam meets in the end of the book[/sp]
more Reasoning's:
how does a faceless man, one of the most skilled murderers ever, get put into a cage going to the nights watch?
He arrived in the black cells after/during neds incarceration. i believe the black cells are mentioned as empty at some point.
Knows arya's name not because of her mentioning it, but because he taught her as syrio. Favours her because he knows her better than he should.
If Syrio is Jaqen I will be extremely buttmad. I think Syrio dying is an integral part of Arya's character development. It would be cheap and extremely obvious if he was actually Jaqen.
Last episode.
[sp]Somebody throw Theon a goddamn bone already, this is getting WAY out of hand.[/sp]
^ There are two puns in that.
Well just wandering in here to say I started watching this
Just got through Season 1
HOYL SHIT
I gotta say the directors of this show are masters at a tasteful/intense cliffhanger. I'm glad I don't have to wait for the next season to continue :v:
Had an issue going through season 1 though, was watching via Window Media Center to 360, which doesn't support subtitles. So the entire scenes involving dothraki talking I had no idea what they were saying, but could guess depending on what was going on.
So, I'm guessing the gist of what went on with the dothraki parts in Season 1 is this? (Season 1 spoilers I guess)
[sp]
They invade some village. The queen takes some of the slaves and tries to save them. One of the upper-dothraki members challenges the king because he was going to show mercy to the villagers the queen was trying to save, dothraki king kills him.
His wounds get infected, the witch ends up poisoning it to make it worse instead of helping as revenge. Members of the tribe grow increasingly weary of the rule of the dothraki king
The queen tries to save the king using blood magic but it just turns him into a vegtable at the cost of his horse's life and the life of her child
The dothraki move on with a new king, some poeple stay behind for the queen though.
The queen starts a break-off tribe of dothraki
[/sp]
For season 2 I'll have to re-encode all the files but embed the subtitles somehow so I can actually follow what goes on (can MediaCoder do this?). Hopefully they only show up in the dothraki parts of the show.. I hate subtitles being on the screen if I don't need them to be.

About right, except that woman or whatever knew what would happen to Drogo, and yet didn't tell Dany, because Dany didn't really save her, people she knew were killed she was raped by countless men before she saved her and so on, said she won't scream in the bonfire, but, well you know how well that went.
yeah well, leave it to dany to make idiotic decisions.
show spoilers:
[sp]"How many slaves are in that city?"
-"200.000"
"Then we have 200.000 reasons to invade."[/sp]
ugh
so i'm probably a stupid person but i missed one episode so i may have missed it
have we seen Mance yet? he's not the beardy redhead, is he? i'm tired so it may have totally happened already and i just forgot.
[editline]15th May 2013[/editline]
oh wait nevermind he's the scary old grizzly guy
So anyone know how to hard-encode subtitles into a video? I've got an SRT file that has just the dothhraki subs but obviously they are all soft-coded. I need to hard-code them in. I tried handbrake but it doesn't let me do it for some reason (i.e. it doesn't give me the option to hard code).
use vlc media player if you don't already
use vlc media player if you don't already
Trying to stream to 360 is the thing
I've discovered PS3 media server supports subtitling but the problem is, it's reading the undefined subtitles on the Mp4 file instead of the subtitle file I'm providing, despite the subtitles sharing the same name as the mp4. I can switch to this file using Media Center Classic but I can't switch which subtitles to use on the media server, it just loads up the "default"... which is undefined. For some reason.
EDIT: fixed, apparently each sub is a different movie in the transcoding folder
Book Three (Kinda)[sp]Is the Red Wedding this week or next?[/sp]
Book Three (Kinda)[sp]Is the Red Wedding this week or next?[/sp]
Book three and show spoilers [sp]Red Wedding is Episode 9, which is the episode when crazy shit ALWAYS goes down (Ned's execution and Blackwater was Ep. 9.) Next episode is Coldhands and Sam slaying a White Walker.[/sp]

Use mkvMerge and you can add and remove whichever subtitles you want.

Ah alright then. Looking forward to it.
Reposting in the correct thread
So I was thinking the other day...if incest is like the Lannister family tradition, did Tywin do it too? Or are these two just extra freaky
no, incest is the targaryen tradition

Book spoilers[sp]Kinda. I mean, Tywin married his first cousin Joanna after all. But outside the current family members not much is heard of Lannister incest. The Targaryen's are another story entirely.[/sp]
Oh
Well that makes tywin's disgust more understandable
