Criticizing my intelligence eh?
Oh god no I can't have an opinion and some information to back it up, based on the fact that ASOIF fits into subgeneres of fantasy more than it fits into fantasy
Fuck you and your entire family, you cunt muscle
You might want to scoop that sand out of your vagina before continuing a pointless argument.

So you're basically saying "u mad bro" which is a totally, you know, normal way to come into an argument from out of fucking nowhere.
This thread gets a little cranky when an episode isn't out on time.
Well I didn't mean to start all that.
Either way, I'd like to see a bit more accuracy in terms of The Others being a mysterious and magically advanced race that managed to give a mankind a swift kick in the balls before being pushed back. The Wights are fine since you can't really go wrong with undead. That's all :v:
If only we could get a glimpse of the Shadow Lands. Unfortunately, iirc GRRM said he wasn't going to have a POV in the next book go anywhere near Asshai or the Shadow Lands.
I don't define fantasy the same way as you then.
Fantasy to me is campy Tolkien hobbits blowing eachother bullshit
Fantasy is for children
GoT really is its own genre or apart of another genre entirely. Fantasy by definition steers clear of the dark and macabre. GoT is in the same boat as Warhammer. Not Tir Na Nog and Lord of The Rings.
that's a weird way to define fantasy...

Oh no, I said something different about harry potter, my nerd glands are flaring with rage
they quite obviously are...
Where are the nerd glands exactly? Are the located within the neckbeard?

I don't know if you know this, but Warhammer is as fucking dark as Lord of the Rings. Warhammer is some real dark shit. Lord of the Rings is also extremely dark, considering it's all about some Lucifer-like asshole fucking up a song to add dischord to the universe.
You want to know the difference in darkness between Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings? There's more short ugly people in Lord of the Rings, and certainly no dick with a Mace and an all-powerful ring.
So a couple pages back a guy told me that dany wasnt a mary sue... here we go...
http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/63598-daenerys-the-cheater/
that is not the definition of a mary sue though. a mary sue character has no personal flaws, which dany does. they may not be explicitly stated by observant characters, but they are definitely there for the reader to discern
what is described in that thread is mainly deux ex machina moments. maybe that is what you meant all this time, i don't know, but it definitely doesn't make her a mary sue.
Personally I don't like Daenerys because she's just so fucking stupid, she's practically the same to me as Cercei, except less paranoid and more retarded about politics.
As in, both are on top of my hated list. Cersei is actually smart, just so overblown paranoid and crazy that it makes many of her decisions just plain bad. Dany is just....dumb.
Last nights episode was the best so far...
reading her bio on the got wiki; lysa tully is such a tragic character. i never really felt bad about her when first reading. (feast4crows) [sp] even when she got murked by petyr [/sp]
but maaan. poor, stupid, crazy girl. ):
Have some Game of Thrones in Japanese.

Woah I see fifty new posts and think that the episode did indeed air, instead we had a bitchy nerd fight about fantasy. (Which ASoIaF definitely is, thank you very much sir)
hey anyone know some good books like ASOIAF
Well I picked up "The Last Kingdom" by Bernard Cornwell the first in a series about Anglo-Saxon England during the time of the Great Heathen Army. But it's fiction as well. There's no dragons or ice soldiers, but it's pretty good. He has another series set during the Hundred Years' War, which I believe is about a quest for the Holy Grail. One of the books had a recommendation by George R.R. Martin, so it's probably good.

I'm reading the third in The Last Kingdom saga and its amazing, written in ways very similar to GRRM, + the Grail Quest trilogy is sick

I never felt sorry for her. She's messed up in the head.
And that doesn't even need spoilers, it's shown the first moment you meet her in book 1.
Fucking Hell, I was looking forward to a new episode today but now I'l have to wait until I'm back in college, fuck everything.

Holy fuck! I love The Saxon Stories! Ragnar Ragnarsson is the fucking boss!
by murk i mean murder killed
I know. What I said still stands.

ASOS spoilers: [sp]She only got killed by petyr at the end of the third book, how is that in any way shown in the first book?[/sp]

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about her being stupid nuts.
Oh god. That "fantasy isn't fantasy" discussion is worse than when bioware social tries to determine what is and isn't an RPG.

What? Cersei isn't smart at all though, everything she touches or gets involved with requires another Lannister to fix. Granted Dany doesn't make good decisions either but you can't say Cersei is smart, she is just blind ambition.

Cersei is a dog chasing a car, pretty much.

Bioware Social is one of the most aggressively stupid places on the internet.

that happens in the fourth book, ffs.
[editline]27th May 2013[/editline]
Well, it looks like GoT tbh. In Season 3 [sp]We had Arya who's a little girl, in the forest with what's her best friend (Gendry being the teddy bear) and some scary people (the Brotherhood and Melisandre, who is conveniently a redhead, which matches the mouse and the girl's hair)[/sp]
Also, Sword of Truth is nearly 7,000 pages of stuff so if one has time to burn then read it.
please tell me the sword of truth isn't bad like legend of the seeker
that happens in the fourth book, ffs.
No it happens in the third book. It's the very last chapter of Storm of Swords
[editline]27th May 2013[/editline]
Aside from the epilogue
please tell me the sword of truth isn't bad like legend of the seeker
I never watched Legend of the Seeker, but my friend who is an avid fan of the book series did and he said it was utter trash compared to the books.
Apparently the producers twisted the story so much by the second season that the only recognizable parts from the books were character names.
that happens in the fourth book, ffs.
Wrong. It's Sansa's last chapter in a Storm of Swords.
