I doubt it'd happen but a prequel series delving into Robert's Rebellion would be cool.
Of course this would run into the inherent problem on not being able to reverse Charles Dance's aging, thus not being able to have him as a younger Tywin.
Which reminds me, are Dany's eyes purple in the series or no? I never bothered to look close enough(Purple eyes being a prominent feature of Targs next to light blonde hair).
They aren't. She either wasn't able to wear the contacts, or they didn't want her to wear them for some reason. I think she has blue eyes.
They aren't. She either wasn't able to wear the contacts, or they didn't want her to wear them for some reason. I think she has blue eyes.
They talked about it in the commentary back during season one. They said they originally filmed them with contacts, but it just didn't look believable.
There are lots of little visual errors that they've done. Most of them aren't too bad, some of them are a bit odd. - None of the starks look related. - Not all the characters have the eyecolours they should have. some simple contacts would sort this out. the red priests and those they resurect are supposed to have red eyes for instance: arguably important. -Ghost makes too much noise. - Some of the armour/sets are very elaborate when they shouldn't be. I suppose it's to better tell one faction from another. -puberty realy didn't go well for bran's actor. - Quartheen's don't show their tits.
Qartheen*
Just curious but something had me thinking. If I went up to Dany with a flamethrower and used it on her, it'd burn her clothes and hair but not herself?
Just curious but something had me thinking. If I went up to Dany with a flamethrower and used it on her, it'd burn her clothes and hair but not herself?
it'd burn her clothes but not her hair because magic
it got her hair in the book didn't it?
But Dany isn't fireproof in the books Slightly more resistant to heat at best, but certainly not fireproof
But Dany isn't fireproof in the books Slightly more resistant to heat at best, but certainly not fireproof
doesnt she walk into a pyre and stay there until it burns out?
Targaryen's aren't fireproof, Aerion Brightflame can tell you that.
I doubt it'd happen but a prequel series delving into Robert's Rebellion would be cool.
If you watch the "sun" in the opening credits where they go over the map, you'll see it actually goes over his rebellion. [editline]31st May 2013[/editline]
Targaryen's aren't fireproof, Aerion Brightflame can tell you that.
I don't know, some of the scenes with Dany in the books make it seem that she may be more special a Targaryen than others, like sitting in Khal Drogo's pyre.
Wasn't it just magic, and that was why it didn't hurt her?
yeah, gurm stated that the pyre was a one-off event
But Dany isn't fireproof in the books Slightly more resistant to heat at best, but certainly not fireproof
No. She's survived drogo's pyre and at one point [book 5] [sp]dragons flame. Dragon's flame being hotter than wildfire according to the alchemists. [/sp] The strengh of the dragon's blood varies. Some valyrians can withstand an inferno, some are a little more resistant to heat, some just burn like normal.
Wasn't it just magic, and that was why it didn't hurt her?
It's a fantasy series in which someone walked out of a giant burning pyre completely unharmed. Could it be magic? Hmmmmmm :v:
It's a fantasy series in which someone walked out of a giant burning pyre completely unharmed. Could it be magic? Hmmmmmm :v:
No its SUPERNATURAL FICTION
Well my mother is the church secretary for our local church and she loves it

I watch it with my grandmother :v: Plenty of the sex / nudity stuff is story-relevant and somehow less contrived than showing Alice Eve in futuristic underwear.
Fair enough. Thanking you both. These are the sort of quotes they should have on the back of the box: "I watch it with my grandmother". I'll order it on Amazon in a bit. I'll post again when I start my watching marathon. One last question. What channel can I find it on in the UK when I come to the point I have to watch it on TV?

Martin: No, no Targaryans (not) are immune to fire. The thing with Dany and the dragons, that was just a one-time magical event, very special and unique. The Targaryans can tolerate a bit more heat than most ordinary people, they like really hot baths and things like that, but that doesn't mean they're totally immune to fire, no. Dragons, on the other hand, are pretty much immune to fire.[/sp]http://web.archive.org/web/20051103091500/nrctc.edu/fhq/vol1iss3/00103009.htm/
HBO...
Actually in the UK we don't have HBO (i think) so it is on Sky Atlantic the day after it airs in the USA.

What happened in GoT was a one-of-a-kind event, the equivalent to a puff of smoke or a portentous comet heralding some crazy shit going down. so guys, tell me. How do you think the series will reach its conclusion with the characters and information given? Seriously, try to conclude the story in your own mind. It's impossible.
so guys, tell me. How do you think the series will reach its conclusion with the characters and information given? Seriously, try to conclude the story in your own mind. It's impossible.
Speculation, but I'll spoiler it anyway so don't click if you've not read all 5 books: [sp]Dany will kill Khal Jhaqo and gain his khalasar with Drogon, and lead them back to Mereen to break the siege with the help of Victarion (or at least the red priest and the ironborn army). They'll use his ships to travel to Westeros (maybe Dany will promise to marry Victarion after they've won the throne or something). Word will reach Euron of what has happened and he will send out a fleet to attack Victarion, but they won't succeed. Dany will reach Westeros (perhaps she will first go with Victarion to the Iron Islands). Jon will be revived by Melisandre and have those who betrayed him executed. At some point the others will march on the wall, and will succeed in breaking through. The rest of the Night's Watch (including Jon) will retreat to Winterfell (which has been newly secured by Stannis after defeating the Boltons in Ramsay's absence). They will spend a lot of time besieged in Winterfell. The word screamed by Brienne is "Jaime", and she is now working under orders from Catelyn. She convinces Jaime to go with her to where they are hiding, and Jaime is killed by Catelyn's men. Brienne is then either free to go, or put to the sword, or sent off to find Sansa once more. Petyr's plan to have Sansa reclaim the North will for the most part be ignored, and tensions between the two will lead Sansa to kill Petyr. She will end up marrying Harry the heir and become lady of the Vale. Dany and her dragons will break the siege on Winterfell by exploiting the Others' primary weakness of fire, but the Others will be marching across Westeros elsewhere. Jon and Dany will unite, but for different reasons (Dany wants to conquer Westeros, Jon wants to protect the realm). Aegon/Young Griff will learn of Dany's arrival in Westeros, and will either attempt to attack her (as he believes he has the better claim to the throne) or join forces to conquer Westeros. This will all depend on how the dragons react to the presence of another Targaryen (if he is indeed Rhaegar's true son). The business in the Citadel will be of little consequence to the main plot, rather the faceless man is just there to assassinate a key maester, and the corruption of the citadel will be Sam's main danger in the next few books.[/sp] And that's about as far as I got before I realised how fruitless a task this is. My ultimate mega-prediction for the end of the series is [sp]Dany and Jon (and their armies) save King's Landing from the Others, destroy the Red Keep (and the Tyrell/Lannister rule), Dany will claim the throne for herself and Jon will either die during the battle (for good) or return to the Wall to continue his watch.[/sp] I guess this is why I'm not an author, but I don't think all the characters will have 100% complete story arcs (for instance, I think [sp]Arya's story is pretty much done, and she just lives out the rest of her life as a faceless woman[/sp]).

@coolcorky book spoilers: [sp]I don't think Jaimie will die. He is prophesied to kill Cersei (Cersei still thinks its Tyrion).[/sp]
i dunno man, i kind of think jon will player a bigger part. If I remember correctly and [sp]he is half Targ which is fairly likely then he has the biggest claim to the Throne except for Aegon and Dany. He also is named heir to Winterfell by Robb. If you ignore the Targs, he is heir to the North and South and has the allegiance of the Lord of the Light (being the probable champion, Azor Azhai) and after executing the remaining traitors in the Watch he'll probably have theirs too. The Wildlings may see reason and join forces to march against the Others. It seems that if Jon plays his cards right, he can do pretty much anything.[/sp]
@coolcorky (book 4-5 spoilers) [sp]Grum confirmed the word she yelled was "Sword." Personally I think she'll either kill herself (she's trapped between her love and duty) or kill Stoneheart. Jaime needs to survive so he can choke Cersei with his golden hand (since he's her valonquar.)[/sp]
I'm a little further along with GoT (Rate me lates?) The red lady appearing at the brotherhood without banners... what the fuck? Hmmm... I think the show producers are jumping a bit when concerning arya. book 3 was about developing her relations with others. Instead the Show gets rid of all her lovely gendry scenes and replaces them with archery.
