:pwn: This was a pretty gruesome episode
I haven't seen the episode yet but just from the audio it actually managed to make my stomach turn a bit. Sounds fucking gruesome indeed.

some lady on facebook wrote a paragraph length theory that it was Bran's dream/not real
Saw this while looking at #GameOfThrones on Google+
from FB:
You've lost this fan! People watch to get away from being beaten down in their lives and hope that justice will prevail if only in story. It is a tried and true formula but your writers wanted to get fancy! Well sod off! We will watch something else. No more seasons when people turn it off!
I still wish the Greatjon was there. In the books a bunch of the Freys tried to get him drunk but he outdrunk them all and still managed to beat a bunch of dudes to death with his bare hands when the shit went down. Also, I had been really wondering what would happen to Talisa since her book equivalent character wasn't present at the RW, that was pretty harsh on her.

I have an odd feeling them taking out all these characters or replacing them/merging them is really going to hit the show later on and end up making it harder for them to adapt the future books.
wat
wat
EP9/B3 [sp] In the books you have characters like Jeyne Westerling who may come back and have an impact on the story (if she actually ended up having Robb's child) but since they replaced her with Talisa and then had her prison shanked that's down the drain. Not sure what they plan to do with Greatjon. IIRC he ends up in captivity under the Freys but they may have altered that for now. There's also the lack of Ser Dontos but he may not have that large of an affect on Sansa's story as I remember. Those are just a couple smaller examples. [/sp] I guess I'm just being picky over the little things. Not saying the show isn't awesome so far.
I wonder if the viewer base will actually drop a substantial bit due to this episode. It'll be like an idiot cull for television

SO DONE. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW DONE," not integrate into the fanbase anyways.

EP9[sp]That was... wow fuck. I was looking forward to the attack on Casterly rock too. This changes things a bit.[/sp]

I know Dontos gets fucked over at the end of this but I want to see him in there anyway. [/sp]
Reactions are so funny. Though it was also fun to mess with people up and to the episode with innocent looking comments about people's theories.
wat [editline]3rd June 2013[/editline] WHAT [editline]3rd June 2013[/editline]
no but i wanna see if jeffrey dies and john snow take iron chair
i have a theory and it's not based on the books because i haven't read them so i won't spoiler tag them because i'm almost positive it's wrong anyway theoretically isn't jon snow an heir to the throne? the lady ned boned down on to create jon was related to king baratheon, wasn't she? what if that fact somehow comes to light and then he and dany (who at this point has stormed the western lands to regain her kingdom) meet and it becomes a romantic comedy and they rule the lands together (with fire and ice, no less (ohoho)) and that is my fairy dream about this show
Holy shit. Crazy ending. Only annoying thing was that I knew something was gonna happen because the entire internet wherever I went had articles about "discussion of next episode" or something similar. I'm sure the books are great and all, maybe I'll read them one day, but come on internet. I wasn't even looking for anything Game of Thrones related.
Rampant spoilers for this episode and ASOS. [sp] Been waiting for this episode for three seasons. It was pretty much almost perfect to the books. The general sequence of events fit, with the band opening up with crossbows and at least an abbreviated scene implying that Robb's bannermen were slaughtered outside the castle. Talisa's death was an addition, but it generally fit. I think remember Catelyn being tipped off by Bolton wearing chain mail under his clothing, so that was a nice touch. Obviously they changed who Catelyn's hostage was, but in the context of the show it fit, and didn't really change anything. The nod to bread and salt earlier in the episode was good. It was never explained in the show, but in the book there was a great importance placed on offering bread and salt to guests, because doing so meant that by tradition they were guaranteed safety and protection while under your roof, and that made Walder's betrayal all the worse. I've known this was coming since the show started, but it was still difficult and moving to watch. I'd say the anticipation made it even more so, because I'm sitting here going "Don't fucking trust Walder! The band has crossbows!" while I'm watching. This episode will weed out the casual fans who know nothing about ASOIAF and just watched because their friends watch. Season 4 and onward will determine who the real fans are. Too bad as a book fan I know that we're in the process of passing over what I consider to be the peak of the series. B4-B5 just aren't as good as B1-3. I guess next week we'll see where they drew the line between the seasons in ASOS, but it's obviously too soon for the big events at the Wall. Hopefully HBO at least makes it through the end of ASOS, but even after this episode the fanbase is so huge that we must have at least 3 more seasons. Side note: Edmure Tully's face when Walder was listing off his daughters and granddaughters was priceless. [/sp]

Episode exceeded expectations, though I am still a little annoyed they changed Roose Boltons line at the end, made it seem more impersonal.
Episode exceeded expectations, though I am still a little annoyed they changed Roose Boltons line at the end, made it seem more impersonal.
[sp] I believe they wanted to avoid making show watchers think Jaime had some personal involvement in it and causing confusion. Plus in the show anyway Jaime says "Tell him the Lannister's send their regards". In the books for both scenes it's just Jaime sending his regards. [/sp]
