i got about 3/4 through storm of swords and (major book 3 spoilers) [sp]almost stopped reading after the red wedding, almost like I did when ned died but then joffrey choking to death at his own wedding... never new littlefinger was THIS ambititious[/sp]
Fair enough, I've not read that far into the books yet, but my understanding was [sp]That the Boltons are sorta infamous for Flaying their enemies, hence their crest and all. And Ramsay is having far too much fun.[/sp]
It's explained in book 5, though it's not that big of a deal to know ahead of time. I just think Ramsay wants to be [sp]a Bolton really, really badly.[/sp] [editline]1st May 2013[/editline]
i got about 3/4 through storm of swords and (major book 3 spoilers) [sp]almost stopped reading after the red wedding, almost like I did when ned died but then joffrey choking to death at his own wedding... never new littlefinger was THIS ambititious[/sp]
He will win the Game of Thrones
I thought this was pretty humorous. 4chan has deemed this song to be the theme of the upcoming (slight TWOW spoilers / speculation) [sp]"Cleganebowl"[/sp] There's like 1 or 2 really confused ELO fans in the comments
I'm putting my money on [sp]There never being any conflict between them, considering the 'hound' died when he became a monk. He's done with that shit.[/sp]
I'm putting my money on [sp]There never being any conflict between them, considering the 'hound' died when he became a monk. He's done with that shit.[/sp]
TWOW spoilers and speculation But [sp]Robert Strong (aka the Zombie Mountain) is gonig to be Cersei's champion for a trial by combat against the church (of the Seven). Sandor being a monk of the Seven puts him in a great position to be the champion for them[/sp]
I read the next Dany chapter of A Dance With Dragons that I'm halfway through and literally flipped the book off the table. She's pissing me off so badly. [sp]Spends the last two chapters of her bitching about how difficult it is to rule Mereen and how she doesn't have a home, then finally the Martel prince arrives and basically offers her every thing she wants...and she goes, "Whelp, too late for you!" without even a fucking second thought due to her wedding the next day! What the fuck, Dany, what the fuck. At least put more than ten seconds of thought into what they had offered, christ[/sp]

(ADWD) [sp]She gets more and more arrogant and stupid as it goes along, especially the "oh but I am a young girl and young girls x but y", her incredibly bad judgement, putting faith in stupid places, and willingness to procrastinate in Mereen. She's not even keeping to her own ideals, flip-flopping from banning slavery to allowing people to sell themselves in slavery, to refusing to let them use their freedom to fight fairly in the combat pits, all the whilst seeing nothing wrong with forcing people to work for a pittance that barely covers food. That's not even to mention how she thinks locking her dragons in an arena is a good idea. They're her key to retaking "her" throne, and she locks them away.[/sp]
Roose is a very cold and crazy man. His biggest problem with ramsay's 'amusements' were that there were tales about it that much of the north was hearing. Ramsay is pretty much another joffery, cruel but stupid (at least according to the books, he seems smarter in the tv series). whilst roose is just a clever guy with strange morals. Ramsay is worse than joffery. Though the main difference is that Joffery is a high profile guy raised by Baratheons and lanisters (both proud houses) and was punished when he did something wrong enough. Ramsay never had high expectations of himself and bolton's are one of the more insane houses. Methinks they're born to be equally nutty. Anyways, after seeing the queen of thorns talking about house mottos i began thinking about how well every house's words fit them. greyjoy- We do not sow- We're a bunch of stealing pricks. Stark- Winter is coming- We're a serious bunch of depressing pricks Tyrell- growing strong - We're accumulating wealth because we're greedy pricks. Baratheon-Ours is the fury- We're a bunch of angry pricks Martell- unbowed,Unbent, unbroken- we're a bunch of stubborn pricks. Tully- Family, duty, honour- We're a bunch of prideful, caring pricks Lanister- hear me roar- We're a bunch of proud pricks Arryn - as high as honour- we're a bunch of honourable, prideful pricks. I remember a few words for minor houses and could probably look up a few more, but anyway... there's not one character who doesn't fit their respective motto. Not one. edit: that kind of makes for eight great houses for eight regions.
I take it the Boltons are a bunch of sharp pricks then? "Our blades are sharp" :v:

That's why most of the main characters act the way they do.
Wait..... Seven Kingdoms. Eight 'great' Houses. Which two houses were part of the same kingdom?
Technically the Iron Islands are part of The North.
Technically the Iron Islands are part of The North.
Nope, they're one of the Seven Kingdoms. Riverlands (Tully) aren't. Also there's another great house... well. Once. Targaryens.
Nope, they're one of the Seven Kingdoms. Riverlands (Tully) aren't. Also there's another great house... well. Once. Targaryens.
Targaryens never ruled a kingdom before the Seven Kingdoms were unified. Nor were they really a great house. They only held Dragonstone, which was a no-nothing little island between the Stormlands and the Vale. Which probably helped the Kingdoms underestimate Aegon's power when he first invaded. I'm curious how the Riverlands developed into their own little realm independent of whomever owned the region before (I'm guessing the Lannisters)
(Going by memory here) I think the Old Kings of the ironborne conquered the riverlands when they were just farmers or some shit and ruled from Harrenhal until Aegon came and fucked shit up [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline] and then the actual riverland people were given dominion of their own lands

Before Aegon, the Targaryens were just some nobodies out on a tiny little island that also had a few dragons. Hell, most accounts say that Aegon's armies were quite small, it was only his dragons that let him conquer the Seven Kingdoms.

Casterlys used to own Casterly Rock. Harren the Black wasn't a Greyjoy. Tullys weren't around. etc

FYI: Ramsay Bolton Ygritte Joffrey Baratheon Daenerys Targaryen Should clear up the names
Wait, Roose has morals? Since when?
weird ones. Like he knows that his bastard killed his trueborn son (and will probably kill any future trueborn sons of his) , but he's not going to kill Ramsay because he doesn't want to be a kinslayer, even though he's fully aware of how fucked up the boy is. Roose is like a slightly crueler version of tywin whilst Ramsay is joffery unchained.

He honestly doesn't give a fuck what happens to Ramsay so long as the future of his house is secure.
It's so odd to say but I haven't seen any other show where it's literally the nutjobs which are the only unlikable characters. Everyone else, namely those who are tagged as the "bad guys" are likable because they are just so damn well developed as characters that you see the different sides to them ..
my reaction to the latest episode
woo finally finished storm of swords, now I can finally read spoiler tags marked 'book 3'. feel like Ive joined some special club. about to start reading feast for crows. anyhow, book 3 spoilers [sp]my jaw hit the floor when tyrion killed his father, and really enjoyed the quip he made about tywin shitting gold. tbh I wasnt surprised at all when petyr killed lysa, although I still dont see how he intends to claim winterfell and the north with bolton and stannis in his way, even with sansa's hand in marriag, although i guess he controls the vale now.[/sp]
Wait..... Seven Kingdoms. Eight 'great' Houses. Which two houses were part of the same kingdom?
Prior to Aegon's conquest the Seven Kingdoms were; The Kingdom of the Reach, ruled by House gardener (Extinct) The Kingdom of Dorne, ruled by House Martell The Kingdom of the Rock, ruled by House Lannister The Kingdom of the Iron Islands, ruled by House Hoare (Extinct) The Kingdom of the North, ruled by House Stark The Kingdom of the Stormlands, ruled by House Durrendon (Extinct, but words, sigil, and last daughter taken by Orrys Baratheon) And the Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, ruled by House Arryn. The Crownlands and the Riverlands, being extremely open and the population spread out, had changed hands several times between all the Southron Kingdoms, seeing as the last of the River Kings were murdered by the Ironborn in Pyke. When Aegon flew forth from Dragonstone the Riverlords were all minor lordlings, their people enslaved by Harren the Black to build Harrenhal. After the Iron Kings burned Edmyn Tully rallied the Riverlords and rose up in open rebellion against the Ironborn, bending his knee to Aegon. For that House Tully was given the Lord Paramouncy of the Riverlands, and that is why they are a great house. [sp]Aka I'm a nerd[/sp]

We're not on the same page.
