ADWD [sp]Right by conquest, the Targaryens lost all claim to the throne when they were beaten and fled, the conquerers getting the new claim. Stannis doesn't see there as being a Targ claim, because there isn't. In addition to that, Dany is hardly sticking to that principle either. She kicks a woman out of her house, claiming that she lost the house when she fled the city. That works as a metaphor for Dany herself - she fled Westeros, (well, was sent away) so she loses claim due to abandonment, even if the Baratheons didn't gain the right to rule through conquest. Of course, I doubt that she'll ever get it through her willfully ignorant skull and "oh I'm but a small girl and small girls x but y"s[/sp]
ADWD [sp]There's a fuckton of that kind of [allegory?] going on once Dany becomes the Queen of Mereen. Another was how she complained that her throne was too hard (Aegon specifically built the Iron Throne to be uncomfortable since "A ruler should never rest easy") and constantly asked for pillows to soften it. And then there's the other case where the Mereen boy asked for Dany's help in taking back his house after the slaves revolted, killing his brothers, father and raping his mother. Losing your home after the local subjects killed your line... Sound familiar? Of course, Dany didn't catch on, which is why she said, "too bad" and made the kid deal with it. What we can learn from this is that Dany is heavily foreshadowed to be an atrocious ruler and a massive hypocrite.[/sp]
Finally finished ep10. Non-book spoilers [sp]Okay so the whole "stark family" was killed off, and basically the north is pretty much nuked too. However the Starks still have a lot of power in the name, and most importantly, Robb (and his family, which makes this even more intense) died as martyrs So.. that brings us to Bran Stark (the warg). Most of the north probably assumes everyone related to the starks is dead, so imagine him coming on down, he could easily be seen as a messiah figure. Not only that, but he would be a king with the warg power, something that might grow into something so powerful that he'll hold an almost legendary mythical status to his people, much like Daenerys Targaryen has aquired with her following (she can't be burned, mother of dragons, etc). I'm looking forward to how the story progresses with him. I have a feeling he'll become the next "Eddard" and "Robb" in the storyline in due time, except with a messiah-like status given to him from the northerners south of the wall and with a name that is martyred. I can easily see him quite literally becoming a "jesus-like" figure especially with his warg ability. Of course I haven't read the books, so for all I know he's been killed off already! But it's just fun speculation.[/sp] [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] Also I really love how GoT creates actual legends/myths from characters via storytelling, instead of just going "lewl this dudes a legendary person". The writer himself convinces the audience through many episodes/pages of character development that X character is something legendary, mythical, or something along those lines, versus just being something we are expected to believe for the sake of the setting and plot. If anything, the big message is "this is how history is written, this is how legends are born" I wonder if the last page in the series will read off like any other fantasy novel. "This legend here went down in history, and the legendary person here with the power of X Y and Z is the king/queen in charge", but then you remember that you saw just how exactly they went from being normal people to becoming legends/martyrs/etc through their struggles in the series.
I love reading a non-book readers thoughts on what will happen, because some of them are actually really interesting.
And then some book-fag usually comes in and rates that person funny and ruins his impressions.
It's how I knew the (show spoiler obviously)[sp]Red Wedding[/sp] was going to go down. I wouldn't mind ratings being disabled here.
Here's a hint: saying shit like this is a good as spoiling it don't do it
Is it a bannable offense doing shit like this? It's not flaming, spam, or warez so I'd feel silly reporting it. (heh all my posts in this thread are whiny)

I really envy show watchers. My friends today were complaining about having to wait 9 months for GoT its been two years since ADWD :(
How do show watchers think the story will go from here?
