Syrio is good but he can't beat a knight of the kingsguard in full armor while he has only half a wooden sword.
*kinda spoiler-ish, not really but if you want to be 100% spoiler free for all books, don't press the link*
Did you guys see this?

I really like the art style of this guy, and the fact that he draws so many characters, great and small, and characters who are only mentioned from history (like bittersteel, daemon blackfyre, etc.)

There were 5...
There were 5...
He beat those 5 though (the wooden sword wasn't broken then)
If I remember correctly those 5 were also just normal guards, not kingsguard knights.

At the end of the scene they were getting back up, doesn't matter how many times he beats them with a wooden sword they won't stay down for long.
Syrio beat those guys easily with a wooden stick. Plus the kingsguard where the shittiest they've ever been at around the time of the novels. It's easy to think that if syrio were to pick up an actual sword he would wipe the floor with all of them. as an alternative, someone who's even more agile than arya could easily escape some goons and a knight in full plate. It's not even out of the question that the silver tongued devil could surrender (and land in the black cell) or bribe the (corrupt as fuck) guard.

If he'd surrender they'd probably kill him right then and there, as they wanted to just a moment before they started fighting, and now that he's shown himself to be quite a threat, there's no reason to keep him alive.
And he could try to escape, there's no question he'd be a faster runner than Arya, but Arya could more easily sneak and hide since she's so small, while Syrio is kinda hard to miss, it would be much easier for guards to capture him than Arya.
snip i realized it's not possible
At the end of the scene they were getting back up, doesn't matter how many times he beats them with a wooden sword they won't stay down for long.
In the book they were all quite fucked up and either incapacitated or dying I'd say syrio was quite capable of defeating a shitty kingsguard but him being alive would ruin the whole point of the character
Aw I'm almost finished with the last book .. [sp]"For the watch" ... ):[/sp]

He stabbed a motherfuckers eye out with a practise sword in the books.
hey shrek :~)

hey u talking to me punk ?
yeah what you gonna do bout it
does this look like a chat thread to you
What the fuck do you think you two are doing? *angry* This isn't a place to have a friendly chat. Friendliness is not allowed.
I looked upon that 'for the watch' scene with eyes rolling. Bullshit. Eh. He will be back.
Now, book six: will arya go east or west?

west
the only reason syrio is still wanted alive is so that there's that one chance that when arya is like idk, getting murdered, syrio can just run in and save her when in reality, that isn't going to happen. i mean, do i really have to use this gif:

Not realy. I want syrio to come back so that he can tell Arya how far she's come. Maybe she might have a breakdown after realising that she went from little-princess to mass murderer? Or maybe she might shrug and think about it silently in her head for a bit.
A similar thing might happen when she reunites with her wolf (assuming she does) But wolves can't speak.
Arya's skill before books/Tv
Master of disguise
sneaky
Fast. Reasonably agile
expert with horses (books)
Great with bows (tv)
literate
brave
clever (books) rather stupid (tv)
- She's also rather average looking.
By the 6th book (probably)[sp]
master of disguise
master of lying
master of sneaking
masterful balance
master of clam selling
expert with poison
Expert at vulgarity
Cunning
skinchanger
good at pickpocketing/cutpurse
Improved senses
Most popular girl in the canals.
cat like balance
decent water dancer
Fluent with bravosi
face changer. personality changer.
Could learn simple magic
More ruthless than ramsay when she needs to be
personally killed... possibly a dozen by the end of book five? Might double in the next book. [/sp]
Also it's implied that she gets much better looking as she gets older ( in the books, i don't think it will happen with the tv actor) She'l look like her aunt, who was so beautiful that people warred for her.
She NEEDS a character like syrio to point this sort of stuff out to her. At least for the tv show's sake. I suppose an chapter about her internal thoughts would work, though it'd have less emotional impact if it was unravelled in such a slow manner.
i think the producers said they want 8 seasons, i can't imagine how arya's actor will look by then
i think the producers said they want 8 seasons, i can't imagine how arya's actor will look by then
Last i heard, they wanted to keep it to 7, which means cramming two books into a season. That's just USELESS when they just spent two seasons on one book, but that's what they said... They should just have gone for 10.
Pretty sure book spoilers need to be in spoiler tags???
Pretty sure book spoilers need to be in spoiler tags???
probably, but you might want to confirm with a mod, pm them and wait about a month for a reply
um yeah book spoilers should be in tags, this is the film and television section, therefore this is the thread for the tv show, not the books, so spoiler tag for those still reading.

It's like that in the Walking Dead thread, so it'd make sense for that to be a rule here too.
Tempted to read the books. Will they be ruined now that I have watched the show?
Tempted to read the books. Will they be ruined now that I have watched the show?
Nope. The books aren't different enough to be considered an... alternative (i don't know a better word) like how the walking dead is different from the comics. The Book is more logical whilst the show has some weird changes to be televised (some good, some fucking retarded). The books are more detailed.
(minor spoilrs)
[sp]In the first book, there's a lot flashbacks concerning future events.
The war is a lot more detailed in the first/second books.
Arya and danny have very different stories. Tyrion is much more involved in kings landing.
John's relationship with the wildlings is rather different.
The books have more colourful characters.
Podric isn't a sex god. [/sp]

again, a small spoiler for the books & show
[sp]The books portrays the background and recent history way better. Like, the show is really one-sided in its portrayal of Robert's Rebellion and especially with Rhaegar Targaryen.
Oh, also, on a small note, the Cleganes are really different too. The Mountain has a much larger role and the Hound is similar to the show but the differences that are there are really odd but help make him an even more interesting character. [/sp]
I'd recommend the books. They're easy reads and different enough from the show to leave quite a few surprises.
