I'd recommend the books. They're easy reads and different enough from the show to leave quite a few surprises.
Easy reads? The smallest is over 800 pages! I read them one after the other and missed out on a month of my life
Easy reads? The smallest is over 800 pages! I read them one after the other and missed out on a month of my life
As in simple. It's easy to understand and they're anything but dry. The length isn't that bad anyway, if you're dedicated, you can get through a book in a few days.
and they're anything but dry.
The food descriptions especially. :v:
got my hands on all three seasons of this show because i left home to work on an island for two months and don't have internet save for the local library wow, i can't believe what i've been missing out on i just finished the third season last night, and i'm about to start the first book now - i'm really, really enjoying this series
BACK TO SYRIO... I just remembered this: In the tv he talks a lot about the god of death. Maybe it's foreshadowing that he's a faceless man? (also, i seriously doubt that the first sword of bravos or a faceless man could be beaten by a (shit) member of the kingsguard.
The food descriptions especially. :v:
and the armor descriptions. They never end.
(also, i seriously doubt that the first sword of bravos or a faceless man could be beaten by a (shit) member of the kingsguard.
Except for the fact Syrio only had half of a wooden sword remaining against a Kingsguard who not only had a metal sword and who was wearing full plate armour that he couldn't get through but a Kingsguard that lived, never showed any significant injuries from a fight and never mentioned a missing braavosi...
Syrio changed into Meryn Trant, he was in the kings landing all along. There you go, you can be happy now.
Syrio changed into Meryn Trant, he was in the kings landing all along. It was obiously Meryn's scream because Syrio is too much of a man for that pussy shit.
But we see Meryn in a later episode :v:
I suppose faceless men have many ways to make someone scream... Like taking of their faces...
Man, this whole [sp]"Syrio is alive/is Meryn fucking Trant" is some serious straw grasping. He's dead, done. If he survived Meryn might have mentioned that he failed to kill an extremely dangerous man, who now presumably sympathizes with the Starks, given that they haven't tried to murder him. And the theory that he became Ser Meryn is laughable.[/sp]
Is this the book or series? because in the series, 3 are waking up and the rest seem about to come to soon.
Book one- [sp]Yeah in the book Syrio kills or fatally wounds the five Lannister household men accompanying Mary Trant. He wasn't first sword for his stylish beard, after all[/sp]
But we see Meryn in a later episode :v:
Syrio stole his face.
The thing about Syrio is, all he would need is a sword from whomever he first beat the shit out of. Everyone's saying that he couldn't take on a dozen armored knights, but I think you're all focusing too much on equipment and not enough on tactics. Firstly, Syrio's goal would be to escape, not kill off everyone he comes through. He's not going to fight the entire Red Keep, he's going to try to escape, which will be fairly easy for him being unarmored and light on his feet compared to every guard and night in the castle being weighed down by at least chainmail. Sure, most of them lived and trained their whole lives for fighting and wearing armor, but it doesn't mean they can run marathons in them. Secondly, his sword style is extremely different than that of Westeros. Knights in the Seven Kingdoms are use to fighting head straight into another armored knight - but Syrio, as he taught to Arya, is an agile swordsman. Think of all the lessons he gave Arya. They're about being as nimble as possible - something a swordsman who isn't wearing armor does. I'm not saying he's definitely alive, but it is extremely plausible that he survived the Red Keep when it went full hate on the Starks.
I'm not saying he's definitely alive, but it is extremely plausible that he survived the Red Keep when it went full hate on the Starks.
Yeah but the problem here is that Meryn Trant would certainly say something about Syrio surviving. Even if he was trying to cover up his failure, at the very least someone would've counted the corpses in his training hall and noticed that they were missing a small bald guy.

There were a lot of people getting slaughtered. I'm sure there were a few mangled corpses that couldn't be recognized. Plus, he wasn't officially part of the Stark group. The men did initially tell him to step aside, so I doubt he was on their most wanted list.
I'm sure the knight (or perhaps a lanister..) cursed him as a 'wretched dancing master' or something like that.
The thing about Syrio is, all he would need is a sword from whomever he first beat the shit out of.
the issue is that they're generic arming swords or longswords, not the kind of weapon Syrio is used to and not really suited for fencing
Dont care what any of you say i'm hoping he is alive what a boss!
Would Meryn really say anything? As far as the Lannisters were concerned he was just a dancing master wasn't he?
the point of Syrio is that he dies that is the whole point of his character, it develops Arya.
And the whole point of arguing that he isn't dead is because we love him and don't have to accept his death without proof. Such is the wonders of fiction.
And the whole point of arguing that he isn't dead is because we love him and don't have to accept his death without proof. Such is the wonders of fiction.
So Syrio is like Jesus? dead but not dead? [editline]17th July 2013[/editline] Your words, not mine! HERETIC!
Perhaps if he was a faceless man he would be captured because the crown would expect a heavenly ransom/favour from bravos. When bravos didn't respond in the correct manner they tried to send the prisoner to the wall. Whilst there are other explanations this does better explain how a certain prisoner from the black cells knew arya's true name.
I'm so disappointed. Every Sunday or Monday I check the internet for the new Game of Thrones episode, but its never there :( The sad thing is that this has been happening for weeks
http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/07/17/game-of-thrones-sherlock/ Mark Gatiss cast in Season 4 of Game of Thrones. Sherlock/Dr Who and Game of Thrones collide!
Mark Gatiss will appear in the fourth season of HBO’s Thrones. The British writer-producer-actor has written Doctor Who novels and episodes of the BBC cult classic, as well as acted on the long-running series (since 2007, he’s credited to three different roles on IMDB). In addition, Gatiss is the co-creator and co-star of another Brit-based favorite, Sherlock, where he plays Holmes’ dryly mysterious brother Mycroft. Now he’s booked on HBO’s fantasy hit next year. On Thrones he will play … Well, that’s something we cannot reveal. The Thrones team is keeping Gatiss’ role quiet.
Mace Tyrell, calling it now if it was a minor role it would have been revealed
Yup, going with Mace Tyrell as well.
i havent read the books so i dont know but please tell me there's a scene where someones picks him up and hits somebody with him for the irony
