So looked up Mace Tyrell on the wiki and it says "He is handsome and a once powerful looking man, but has since turned to fat."
Uhh, what?

He's fat, just in fancy talk

and the mountain is supposed to be a hulking mass of muscle
and king robert is actually 6 foot 5
Mace's size is not important to his character, unlike say Tyrion and Brienne.
Perhaps if he was a faceless man he would be captured because the crown would expect a heavenly ransom/favour from bravos. When bravos didn't respond in the correct manner they tried to send the prisoner to the wall. Whilst there are other explanations this does better explain how a certain prisoner from the black cells knew arya's true name.
Nah I think the faceless man was smarter and kept the same disguise and then vowed to take the black and run off due to his ability to disguise.
I mean can you imagine trying to send a faceless man to the wall that you know is a faceless man? He'd get out in a few seconds once he was released and would make his trip back to braavos.
I think many faceless men are honourbound for certain things. when they owe a person their life, they'l do anything.
On the subject of what characters look like:
Well, renly was supposed to be dashingly handsome. The spitting image of a younger Robert Baratheon (who was at a saxton hale level of manliness in his youth)... Nope, he looks and talks feminine. Meanwhile dario looks like some kind of peadophile stereotype, Ghost makes noise, tyrion's rather handsome, The companions aren't fucking fabulous...
There's lots of things wrong with how characters look realy. Especially the companions. Those guys were wonderful to read about.
In the show, they're not the companions.
But they should be.

Well I think it helps show his bumbling nature, but yeah I wouldn't call it a make or break part of his character.
I just hope Mace is done well. He's actually one of my favourite characters from the newer books.
So does having Mace mean we'll get badass Randyll?
Gatiss looks more like a Randyll Tarly candidate to me
Gatiss looks more like a Randyll Tarly candidate to me
he's not man enough
he's not big and bad enough
does gatiss look like a man who would kick out his fat, craven son?
nah, he looks like he'd give him a doll and feed him pies
from the photo in the article he looks like he could do the job with a bit of cosmetic work
idk, he looks more like a tarly than mace tyrell to me, but we'll see
you guys will probably be right in the end
I hope we see [sp] Mace bringing the chair shaped like a hand [/sp] in the later seasons
I hope we see [sp] Mace bringing the chair shaped like a hand [/sp] in the later seasons
[sp]Best part about that was that he showed up with it like two hours after Kevan made him Hand. Mace is such a bumbling, grasping, idiot that it's kinda hard not to like him[/sp]
Just finished season 3 for the first time. All i can say is wow. I nearly shit my pants near the end.
It actualy took me two tries to get what was going on in the south for the fourth book. There's so many useless characters that i don't think we will see again. I think this might actually be a chance for the tv series to shine since it can show the faces of these characters.
The fourth book is without a doubt the worst.

rip stable boy and mean stark soldiers
u wil bee miss
Disappointing Comic-Con panel all in all. No season 4 news at all. Nada.

Never in my life did I think I'd read those words.

Yeah dude opinions can be pretty shocking
3 > 4 > 5 > 2 > 1

AFFC is my second favourite behind ASOS
brienne chapters aside, it's really great. even brienne's last few chapters are good.

The "broken men" paragraph is one of my favorite if not my favorite paragraph in the series.
I think the ending was the weakest (or least shocking, at least) of the books though (including the 5th that I got spoiled about).
Honestly I hold all the books to the same regard, Dance with Dragons edging in front only slightly.
You realize that was literally posted 8 posts above yours right?
Decided to read ahead of the series, just finished ASOS/book 3.
[sp]It's amazing how it turns out that the Lannisters were the ones being played all the time. You've assumed from the start that everything was them, because they had the motives and were a bunch of assholes. And that is what the rest of the realm did too, shit Littlefinger is good. I'm still not sure why he killed Jon Arryn, though. Maybe it'll be revealed.
Also, ffs Oberyn you idiot, you had him.
And damn, resurrected Catelyn is scary.[/sp]
