Ramsay - Daddy issues and the circumstances of his birth and raising
Technically neither of their faults that they're fucked up
i dont think its ever someones fault if they're messed up in the head.
except for Baelish, fuck that guy.
I don't think there's rally any character who's not morally ambiguous in his books, except Sam Tarly I guess.
Certainly refreshing after so much fantasy being good vs evil
Sam is morally ambiguous, right?
b5 (or 4?) [sp]When he's on the ship to Oldtown he has to struggle with the decision of boning the wildling girl and breaking his oath. Also he confronts his own brother (I forget his name) in Braavos when he starts abandoning the black, which makes boning the girl even harder for him, because he realize that castle black is all he has, and breaking the oath is the first step on a slippery slope of loosing his focus of being part of the only family he feels he's ever had. Like a lot of social deviants he over-analyze the situation he's in, and combined with his massive minority complex he concludes that comforting this young girl would be a horrible thing to do of him, when you think about it he's, being really egotistical, because Gilly really needs his companionship, but that's a topic up for discussion. Buuut, I guess that because of this struggle is his alone it could just as well be defined as just character growth, what do you guys think? [/sp]
I don't know if anyone's posted it yet but Richard Madden is going to be in a Discovery miniseries this month

Looks pretty good, if a little cheesy here and there
Sam is morally ambiguous, right?
b5 (or 4?)
Oh, yeah, I guess. Not sure if it's all that morally ambiguous, but he's not all semi-comedic relief/bumbling best friend with a heart of gold
i just finished this episode

that was more shocking and unexpected than when i read it in the walking dead.

I saw that more as character development into making him "a man" and more grown than before. [sp]If it were just any whore in a town, I would say it's making him morally ambigious, but since it was a particular girl that he had a history with and feelings for, I think it was alright. Besides, it was when he was really broken down - he was alone, his mentor had died and he was in a place he never knew before. It just sorta happened.[/sp]
His natural accent is trippin' me out
he sounds like a northman

Stannis Baratheon.
In the books he's the sort of Lawful Overdrive character. "You raped that woman? Say goodbye to your dick." "You stole something? Say goodbye to your hand."
Everything he does is because he follows the law, and GRRM describes him as the closest thing to a hero in the story.
so i just finished season 3

You wouldn't call Stannis good though. If he had a choice between doing the right thing and following the law, he'd follow the law.
You wouldn't call Stannis good though. If he had a choice between doing the right thing and following the law, he'd follow the law.
Well that begs the larger question of what is right? If Stannis had to decide between hanging a starving woman who stole some bread or letting her go he'd hang her, but if had to choose between granting an unfairly seized inheritance to a dispossessed heir he would grant it back because it's the law. Ned had honour, and with that he was willing to break the law in order to do what he thought was right, but Stannis is iron, and he will break before he bends.

Not always true - he followed Robert into rebellion when the law would've been to swear allegiance to the throne.

Like all characters in the series, he's not absolutely good or evil, but in terms of good, he's the best Westeros has to offer.
Like all characters in the series, he's not absolutely good or evil, but in terms of good, he's the best Westeros has to offer.
Until he forcefully revokes their gods and burns them

Still better than Joff :v:

I get what you're saying to some degree; he's one of the more morally good characters in some ways, but he does burn people alive for not believing in his god...
[editline]17th January 2014[/editline]
Also I don't get why nobody seems to be rooting for Dany in here; while Stannis is burning people alive for their religious beliefs, she's liberating slaves.
[editline]17th January 2014[/editline]
(and burning people alive, but only so she can liberate slaves!)
I'm rooting for her. But only because Emilia Clarke is adorable and her smile turns me into a liquid state.

Book spoilers [sp]Stannis doesn't burn people for that, he burned people for treason, cannibalism and betrayal. He allowed them to be burnt to appease Melisandre and grant him favour from the red god but that's it. I don't think he fully believes in R'hollor, more that he sees it's power and that is a means to an end.
He sure as hell wouldn't burn any of the godswoods in the north as he knows there would be outright revolt against him[/sp]
Season 4/book 5 spoilers [sp]I'm excited about Leaf/Child of the Forest making an appearance this season. Probably last episode. Read it's been the most complicated prosthetic work on the show to date, and weeks of movement choreography.[/sp]

Actress is great, character is pretty dumb.

What about [sp]Cold Hands?[/sp] Fucking completely missing from Season 3, kind of fucking Bran's and Sam's stories over

because she's fucking mental. She's so delusional and just crazy.

they could quite easily introduce him at any point now
Actress is great, character is pretty dumb.
really? i don't think Clarke is that good. One of the worst actors on the show.
Like all characters in the series, he's not absolutely good or evil, but in terms of good, he's the best Westeros has to offer.
I think you could (and I personally would) argue Jaime is the best "good" Westeros has to offer. Brienne too.
Until he forcefully revokes their gods and burns them
burns the heart trees/statues or people?
because if you mean people [sp]he's only burnt them alive for treason or crimes like cannibalism[/sp]
I get what you're saying to some degree; he's one of the more morally good characters in some ways, but he does burn people alive for not believing in his god...

(and burning people alive, but only so she can liberate slaves!)
except by liberating the slaves [sp] she'll make the situation worse, famine, complete anarchy. Astapor falls apart right after she leaves, and Meereen is rebelling from the shadows and every local hates her. she even orders the death of any free man older then 12 who wears a tokar in Astapor i mentioned before.[/sp]
and no, he doesn't burn people alive for not believing in R'hllor, half of his army believes in the Seven and his Hand believes in the Seven.

I didn't know if he's confirmed yet. I didn't know [sp]Leaf[/sp] was either
Jaime let the bastard son made from incest with his own sister become king all while still fucking his own sister. Sure, he's going through a lot of change in his life now, but Stannis was always like how he is.
As for Brienne...you may have a point there.
What about [sp]Cold Hands?[/sp] Fucking completely missing from Season 3, kind of fucking Bran's and Sam's stories over
[sp]If Coldhands doesn't make an appearance, combined with the way they completely changed Shae's character in the show, I'm going to be so mad that I will complain on one or more message boards.
Seriously though, I dread for what they will do to make Shae's backstabbing seem coerced.[/sp]

[sp]They're going to make Tyrion look like the bad guy in the show. At least in that relationship. They're already setting it up.
In the books Shae was always a whore but Tyrion never saw it[/sp]
So I started reading the books. Near the end of book 2 right now and it's fantastic. Even though I watched the TV show, it's still very exciting due to the fact that it goes into much more details and some stuff is done quite differently in the books.
