I've never been so excited for a new season of a show.

GET
FUCKING
HYPED
Drogon lookin' badass !
Oh god its chest scales have been animated to stretch outwards like real lizards, the attention to detail is nuts.
I'm reading the 3rd book now, part 1. Am I almost caught up with the TV show? I think I'm around there.

Yeah, season 4 is pretty much part 2 of book 3.
Christ. I watched the foreshadowing video and now I'm hyped like fuck.

Brace yourself.

I really, really like AFFC, but had I read it when it was new, I could understand why I'd be upset.
I actually thought A Dance with Dragons was the second best book after storm of swords.

The first half would have been a let down after waiting the 7 odd years for it after a feast for crows though

What will the next book be like then :v:

Conspiracy:
[sp]HBO will hire someone to kill GRRM so they can air the last part of the story with exclusivity.[/sp]

I always felt that AFFC was needed as a book to connect a lot of plot from the first 3 books to the next few books. It took me 3 months to get through it while only a few days or weeks to read every other book.
Are the books hard to read? As in, do they flow well, where you end up reading for hours on end. Or are the kind of ones that are exhausting and require you to 100% concentrate or you'll have no idea what's going on? I'm sure they're fantastic, and I'm really enjoying the TV show, but I'm weary of starting the books if I don't get as much out of it as I could.
I enjoy reading entertaining and interesting stuff, but I could never read my way through something written by Tolkien for example. Is it similar to that sort of structure?
They're no where near as hard to read as Tolkien, I'll tell you that right now.
I mean, I'm assuming you read fairly regularly so you have a grasp of language and the like, in which case it'll be a cake walk.
However, if it's babby's first book... you may have some trouble especially with the length.
AFFC is the best book if you don't agree you're just wrong.
How is that the best book? Almost no plot developments and half the book is dedicated towards [sp]Brienne[/sp] while at the same time we know [sp]if she's going the right way[/sp] so there's literally no suspense or mystery.
AFFC was awesome, I really enjoyed reading Brienne's point of view. but ASOF is probably my favorite.

I didn't know this was possible

I'm definitely an avid reader, just not a fan when it starts to feel more like I have to read it, rather than want to read it.
I'll give it a go. Found the bookset for like $30.
By the way, how do you guys think they will end season 4?
Major spoilers, like serious don't klick unless you've read ASOS:
[sp]I mean it seams that Joffrey dies relatively early in the season(?) will it end with Tyrion killing Tywin? Or is that to far ahead?[/sp]
Major books 3/season 4 spoilers [sp]I think ending with Tyrion killing Tywin would be best. It's so shocking and unexpected that it would dwarf (Heh) Ned's death and Stannis getting smashed on the Blackwater, and just about equal Lord Frey's betrayal[/sp]

I literally did not read AFFC for three weeks because the next chapter I had to read was hers.
I actually really liked (AFFC) [sp]Brienne's story. I liked seeing her journey on the road, getting to know Hyle Hunt, Nimble Dick, Septon Meribald. Septon's broken man speech was great. And Brienne's last few chapters were a great pay-off, to me atleast.[/sp]

Exactly. Everyone she met was interesting. But her? No.
Only when she ran into [sp]Jaime[/sp] at the end did it become remotely interesting.
She didn't run into him though. books 4/5: [sp]That's in book 5[/sp]

I meant at the end of her journey, not the end of the book. I should have specified
