Routine Alpha Gameplay Trailer - Horror game set in an 80's sci-fi universe

I love games that allow you to interact with computers like that, this is looking really nice.
I've been looking forward to this ever since it popped up on Greenlight. Definitely a gem amongst the 80% of knockoffs on Greenlight.
I wonder how they kill you
in the GamesCon trailer it showed someone getting shot. so presumably there's different ways that they attack
an enemy who has no other feeling than to objectively seek out and kill you and probably will never stop, get tired or do anything other than seek you out?
sounds pretty scary
eh i don't find robots scary.
to me robots imply (even in a sci-fi setting) that they're more or less designed a certain way and pre-determined, even if some weird malfunction happens where they glitch out and now just kill people they still seem predictable to me just because they're robots that we made.
unless there's some major backstory or something leading up to it, perhaps like in I, Robot - those robots were actually a little freaky - then i most likely won't be as scared as i could be
When the robot starts running it's scary as fucking shit
So just by having CRT monitors it's 80's sci-fi? I had the impression that 80's sci-fi was more than just that. The designs and such for example, they're not very 80's sci-fi. I don't deny that it's more than probably drawing inspiration from 80's sci-fi, but most of the designs look much more modern than that.
But, I guess that's just me.
Your gun uses floppy disks.
I'm sorry, it can't get more 80's than that.

How about Blood Dragon? That's the eightiest thing I've ever seen...
I just noticed the :( face on the computer at 0:35. Reminds me of GERTY.
The sounds of the robots really remind me of that Colonial Marines browser based game with the waves of robots that attack in the training area (wow that's vague).

Are you sure it's a robot? I didn't see anything so it could be anything.
Robots aren't really scary but those creepy glowing eyes and loud ass stomping as it chases you actually really did it for me
That spotlight followed by STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP
nope

Robot.
Was that thing the player encountered in the sewers also a robot or a different creature? I'm guessing the latter.

Guess so, the designs still don't feel very 80's to me though.

Interstellar Marines.
I hope not all the enemies are robots because that isn't scary at all.
Robots can be really fucking scary. They just keep coming at you. No emotion, total situational disconnect. And the thing in the water definitely sounded alive to me.
Ohhh I'm getting some massive "What if Old Aperture was in space and was a horror game" vibes from this, along with some Fallout feelings.
This is gonna be great. I wish I wasn't a huge pussy when it comes to horror games because I really just want to explore those levels...
I hope not all the enemies are robots because that isn't scary at all.
Ehh I don't see biological aliens really working, especially not on the moon. AI going haywire and killing everything is always a good concept, IMO.
holy jesus i want this game so bad
it's been so long since a good pure horror game has been released
Apparently it has a perma-death system...

Game looks AMAZING.
I can almost guarantee there's going to be a dark hallway with one of those robots being inactive, and you don't even know it's there until you see its eyes turn on.

I bet that cute lil robot from the beginning is gonna be an annoying as shit headcrab type enemy later on
and it's gonna display an angry anime face on it's lil CRT so it's still gonna look cute as it murders you
i know the guys making this (it's a team of like 4 people) so maybe i can let you know some info that you might not already know (although any of this is subject to change if it hasn't changed already):
it's permadeath
it's procedurally generated
it has floaty no-deadzone weapon aiming (whatever you call that stuf)
they'll work hard to create really good oculas rift support

I actually thought the small guy in the beginning was going to sneak up on him

It's not no-deadzone aiming, it's yes-deadzone aiming, IE your weapon can move within the screen (Presumably, if done like ArmA 2 rather than Red Orchestra) without actually rotating your view. That's the deadzone.
Robot.

I was talking about the sewer thing. It ran really fast so I assumed it could have been something else
oh god when he shot the robot and nothing happened at all
i'm so getting this
Why can't it just come out NOW
Robots are fucking scary if they are programmed to be fucking killing shit
Between this and the intruder I'm set for horror games in 2013

I don't think it's supposed to be scary to look at, but instead make you panic due to how relentless they are in pursuing you and how difficult they are to take down.
this looks pretty fucking awesome
