[QUOTE=Maya2008;34874918]Didn't get a lot of time to work on it.
Painted the face and a rough hair, getting sleepy.

It's odd that you have a figure-ground relationship in the form of a shadow, but not actually where the figure is touching the ground. It makes it look like she's floating.
Also I really have to say, the background and boat are freakin' awesome
I think I got rid of the retarded look

The mouth was too big, indeed.
I was practicing expression, and I guess I went too far in laughing.
it's better

I'm thinking about half submerging her feel into the sand for the interaction.

It's absolutely more natural and relaxed, but you really need to take those things I pointed out into consideration next time you make poses like this, because there is a lot of fucked up shit going down with the mouth and nose. It's very anime flawed.
Finished painting the body

ps. Forgot to remove the foot ref lmao
it's pretty good bro
(lol'd at that tiny foot ref though)
I feel like the hair is starting to look like tentacles. It just looks like its too clumped together instead of flowing freely.
It's artwork like yours that is inspirational. I regard you as a great artist devoted to your passion. Good job!!
I clicked on this link in the ticker thinking that Autodesk Maya had incorporated some neat sketchbook feature. Mildly disappointed.
But still great shit. Shadows could be sharper, like this;

Sent her to the hair salon.

Will sharpen cast shadow after the cloth and hat are done to make it more accurate.
I keep on changing her hairstyle :x
I just realized how important hairstyle is to one's appearance >.>
Her hair is definitevely looking less 'tentacles' than before. Good job.
I suppose your next step are her clothes now.
When I look at her hair I can't help but be reminded of bacon, I think it's the colours. It looks good though, I can't wait to see it finished.
I was wondering why I was hungry.
Her hands look really really good and natural

Finished ambient and specular passes, need to start do some blending and sharpen the shadow.
I don't really know what that big splotch of shadow that coming from the bridge is sposed to be doing, or whos it is.
it looks kinda weird
the sand shadows could be a little smoother and lighter
and the underside of the hat is pretty light and it looks a little weird when it's sorta casting a shadow on the face
I like that forearm being pushed slightly by the knee, looks good and dynamic. Surely such a wide-brimmed hat would cast a shadow down on her face though.

Blending in progress...
[editline]28th February 2012[/editline]
Need to cast reflection of the boat, almost forgot.
You are going to fix that pole behind her, right?
Should be gingers like this IRL.

In an alternate universe, one woman must survive while the objects around her disintegrate on a small island on a beach with nobody to help her.
Coming Summer 2012
Shouldn't her shadow also be visible on the dock, not just the sand?
I'm done with this piece:

Unf, looks great
The angle of the shoreline in relation to the horizon still fills me with disquiet though
Anyway, can't wait for whatever you do next
Lovin' how you put the sand on her feet
You should draw something which isn't a lady by the sea next. I really like your style but I would love to see it applied to other things.
Maya, you rock so much. I really wish I could get into drawing but have no freakin' clue how to :(
I won't get your sketchbook off track though by wallowing :v:
...but if someone wanted to PM tips on how to start, I wouldn't say no to that.
some detail shots:
