needs to work on proportions a lot.
do some studies, don't just draw.
Jennifer Love hewitt?
She either has an ape nose or it's being drawn from a different angle. Her face is angled downwards, but the tip of her nose is facing upwards.
Last edit on her crooked chin and eyes...
I'm done with this sketch.
I'm off to sleep

Hey maya, you should put in more midtones. The drawing is a little bit
flat.
If you make the ref black and white it's actually quite a bit darker than that.
More mid tones would really make your highlights and shadows stand out more.

Features look good though. The placement is a tiny bit off.
another 1-2 hr session.

teeth look really flat and weird
I think you need to study the landmarks of the face, how to measure how far the landmarks are from eachother and so on, untill you know how to do it from memory.
Look up Andrew Loomis "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth", it is free to dl. Look at the diagrams in it and study that, as well as read what he writes.
It is one thing to be able to copy from a photo an another to being able to draw from mind, and I suspect you want to draw as goof from memory as you do when you are copying faces - if so you got to KNOW how a face works and the structures.
I think these drawings are awesome.

popped the book open and did some figure study from the first chapter

A technical demo reel I put together that showcases my programming work mostly.

What I made for lunch tomorrow.
Terikayi pork & egg with udon.
Decided to make it look nice as I need to make lunchbox everyday.
I think the tomato is a little bit too big...
Should have put some pork on the top too, maybe cover up the tomato a little.
The thing in the middle is just spring onion btw.
I might buy a better looking lunchbox too, like a Japanese, black wooden one.
The mundane, clear plastic box doesn't look so tasty :S
Cooking is an art as well, btw.
Not only visual, you also need to get the scene, the texture, the ease of eat, and the taste right.
Basically, four out of your five senses.
I want to appreciate different things as forms of art.
Not strictly to painting and drawings.
Martial art is an art because it appreciates the relationship between one and one's surrounding/oneself.
If the art of scene is perfume/cologne,
Then the art of taste is cuisine.
Yeah but it's an artform you have to taste to judge and appreciate.
You can get a feeling for the textures and taste combinations and you can judge the composition and colours. But how it actually tastes and how the textures works together needs to be felt.
So I think it's kinda useless to post here. Cooking is art, but it's not an art-form. It just makes me go "why?". By all means enjoy making it and appreciate it as art, but I don't see the reason to post it here.
I totally agree.
That is a shame though, we can't really share anything other than audio and visual art over the web,
as sound and light travel in waves that can be stored as electric energy.
It would be cool if we could send scent and taste over places somehow.
Wonder what the equivalent taste for dubstep is like..
Looks pretty tasty though I agree you might want to get a prettier sandwich box as it sort of does all your hard work a disservice.
By the way the cooking subforum may appreciate the images also. :)

Been really busy with work...
Managed to make some progress on this.
[editline]28th September 2012[/editline]
The saturation is different on deviantart...
good job on the face, but it kinda looks like it's copy pasted on, like it's not interacting with the other elements in the picture.
It kinda looks like you had a ref for the face, but nothing else, so it's not living up to the quality of it.
where is the primary light source btw?
The primary light is the same direction as the camera, the secondary lights are reflected from the field.
been really busy with work, and I just didn't feel like doing anytime productive when I had free time.
anyways, finally got the energy to finish this:

I think her right eye looks bruised :x
I've no idea who you are, but I certainly like the possible light setup you are aiming for in this latest wip :o Much improvement since your first post in this thread :)

I fucking love this rendering style
Yep, I can't draw a celeb from memory yet, haha.
Original ref I found is low res, nevertheless. (360 x 480)
