Gentlemen, BEHOLD! I present thee - THE TRILOBITE! And oh wow, there is a website about Trilobites. Where is your god now? Anyway, Trilobites lives back in the seas, 300 million years ago. They were hard-shelled creatures with a large number of legs, very sophisticated sight system, and could have used their legs for various sensory actions. Hell, they had 3 kinds of eyes. And there are even more different body types. Talk about diversity. They ranged in sizes, from a millimeter to 70 centimeters. So, what did they eat, you ask? Oh, there is a simple answer to that: EVERYTHING Well, to put it correctly, different Trilobites were either predators, filter-scavengers, or herbivores. Well, they wouldn't try to attack you. At least, because tht would require them to climb on top of you (which chances are, you wouldn't allow an almost meter-tall creature to do). And here is a fun fact - Trilobites could roll up into a ball, when they needed to defend themselves. It's unknown how long it took, but it probably was in the awesome slow-mo effect. But sadly, they were not the biggest fish in the acquirium. No, they were actually the oldest. Before the mass extinction of as many as 90% of Earths species, Trilobites existed for 251 million years. What a shame. It was a good species - what a rotten way to die. They would make great pool pets, if they survived, though. Just as planned.
This thread is awesome, thank you OP.
Good to someone actually appreciate this thread and don't scream about how they are scared after reading this thread. Edit: Argh... | | V
Out of all of these creatures, I'm more scared of brown recluse spiders now after seeing the pictures of those bites.

That kitten is more of a man than any of us will ever be.
Where there are guinea worms, there is Guinea Worm Disease – and that’s usually in Africa. When a human consumes water contaminated with guinea worms, the little buggers infiltrate their host’s intestinal walls and commence mating. After conception, the males die off, and the females hang around for about a year, growing and eating. Eventually, these slender ladies get bored and decide they need to lay some eggs. To do so, they make their way down the body to the lower extremities, where they bore a small hole through the skin. The resulting lesion begins to fester and burn, which usually leads the host to plunge his or her foot into a soothing bucket of water (Of course, in areas where an entire village shares a single water source, this helps spread the infection.) Unfortunately for the sufferer, the water doesn’t solve the problem of having a three-foot female worm dangling its genitalia out of your foot. And to complicate matters, if you yank on that sucker, it’ll break apart and could cause a fatal infection. So how do you rid yourself of the not-so-little hitchhiker? You go see a doctor, who – over the course of three or four weeks – will kindly wind the worm around a stick, inch by agonizing inch. Not the most pleasant method, but certainly a proven one. This cure for a guinea worm infection has been around so long, so believe it’s where we get the snakes-around-a-staff symbol for medicine.
A nasty parasite...
That kitten is more of a man than any of us will ever be.
It's just a giant pill bug basically. How could you ever be scared of it? I'd hold it after a few minutes of looking at it and making sure it's not going to kill me.
It's just a giant pill bug basically. How could you ever be scared of it? I'd hold it after a few minutes of looking at it and making sure it's not going to kill me.
Here is a fun fact: They eat fish. They catch it by JUMPING at the fish that is passing by. So, if you were to ever meet one under the water, it would be like a headcrab encounter, if it was to jump at you for some reason. Also, my Trilobite post is my 5k post. Woo!
It's just a giant pill bug basically. How could you ever be scared of it? I'd hold it after a few minutes of looking at it and making sure it's not going to kill me.
Oh yeah, it looks harmless (to me, a big scary human). Doesn't mean I want to bite and taste it. ;)

Woo!
They are scavengers. They eat dead stuff. They can eat fish if they need to. That is, slow moving, low swimming fish. I wouldn't like to be bitten by one, would make you bleed. But so do crayfish bites. (they got the same kind of mouth these guys do, just a lot smaller)

Japanese fighting fish otherwise known as betas? Those things are awesome pets
the reason there are only like two in existence is because Ligers are unable to breed, they are pretty much a novelty species
Why cant they breed, do they not posses the organs or something?
Japanese fighting fish otherwise known as betas? Those things are awesome pets
That's a fancy Guppy. This is a betta. That's a damn fine Guppy though, took me second to realize it was a guppy and I've been breeding the fuckers since I was 13. [editline]02:52AM[/editline]
Why cant they breed, do they not posses the organs or something?
Cross breeds like that generally end up infertile. It happens with a lot of fish species too.
I've always wondered if this was real or not:
