Nope, the A1 still makes up the majority of the Army's active tank inventory. They were going to upgrade all M1s and M1A1s to the A2 configuration in the late 1980s (The Block II modernization program), but budget cuts following the end of the Cold War killed that and that's why the US has two variants of the Abrams of service.
