I watched the Hunger Games. In my Junior year of High School I read the books and sort of enjoyed them, nothing stellar but I suppose it was a decent enough story barring a few of the dumber things. I thought that seeing the movie might be neat.
holy FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I don't see many movies where I can pick out genuinely bad acting, but damn, this had just.... horrible acting. Everyone felt so inorganic and flat when they spoke, it was just... god damn.
I'm going to give it a like, 4 out of 10, pretty awful. It only gets a score above 3 because I enjoyed the lead up and the revolt in district whatever. Out of all the shitty teenager books turned movie it's probably the most watchable, but otherwise it's just horrid shit.
i know the body double for when the [sp]little black girl[/sp] is running through the forest, they got her because apparently little kids can't run through forests that well
I didn't even notice that I was too busy gagging tbh it was just unpleasant

Thinking of watching The Devil's Double sometime soon, looks interesting.
devils double is a good movie and worth watching. Great dual performance from Dominic Cooper, plays 2 totally different characters really well.

maybe worth noting that it's not factually accurate at all though. Its close to its source material (autobiography from the double) but the book is likely mostly made up for the most part. A lot of the stuff hasn't been able to be proven/some stuff proven inaccurate
So I was re-watching this scene from The Impossible because I was bored and I noticed something very interesting

The CGI effects overlap the black bars at the edges of screen, which only appear for a second or two. I wonder how nobody noticed this.
Shutter Island
Jesus fuckin christ this movie is deeply unsettling. Absolutely brilliant acting all around, DiCaprio (and everyone else on the island) was a genius. The cinematography was totally gorgeous and the effects were quite good too, Scorsese is just a master. The plot was both excellent and eerie. This movie basically outlines one of my greatest fears in life: waking up in a mental institution and finding out that I'm completely insane. Overall this film is probably one of the best thrillers I've ever seen in my life, and certainly ranks among one of the darkest.
heat
good movie

It had the perfect blend of comedy and romance, and the romance fitted perfectly with the dick jokes etc. but was still nice (not cheesy). The jokes were great and the actors were perfect for the job in my opinion, maybe Jennifer Aniston was a bit out of place because her stripper persona didn't really suit her but I'm nitpicking, it was amazing
That movie was fucking woeful. Not even in a good way.
I fucking love that movie. The fifth one's pretty solid as well.
The rest are awful, though.
Is the 5th the one that had the young clone of Tom Cruise?
Pain & Gain - 7/10
Again, good for shits and giggles.

I felt the same way when watching it but on my second watch it was not as great, somehow everything fell apart for me and the storyline seemed even silly at some point. I didn't enjoy it as much.

Its like watching Fight Club twice
World War Z
finally a zombie flick that isn't shit. Actually I think it's the only decent one to come out since Zombieland.
What I liked the most was the fact that it tries to differentiate itself from other movies of the genre. The action scenes were pretty great, I thought the cgi zombies would look like shit but they did a good job and I had a blast. From the trailer they looked cringy and ridiculous but I was proved wrong.
The story is really lacking however, the way they try to deal with the virus is interesting but it's really cliche' at times and not really engaging at an emotional level at all. The family aspect is blatantly thrown in your face and yelling "you should care about these characters!!!!" all throughout, which was unnecessary. They obviously threw that in there just because ~emotion~
Brad Pitt is pretty much the only character who is even remotely interesting, the rest of them are just stereotypes and boring.
But I appreciated the way they made the zombies unique, and actually call them zombies. And the story still feels fresh although it really isn't anything new. The movie is nothing special, but it's fun and you should definetly watch it if you like the genre. A solid 7.5/10

I could watch Fight Club over and over again, the movie is just so great. There are movies which are better on multiple watches, Shutter Island isn't one of them.
you're next
a real breath of fresh air on the horror/slasher genre. a nice twist on a typical plot, some great black humour mixed with a smart protagonist (that doesnt ruin the suspense though) and some stellar kills.
really enjoyable. i give it two severed thumbs up

yeah but it makes it feel as though objects are flying out of the screen, it has to be intentional. :)

hmm, if you look at it in detail, the top right is clear so I reckon the film they were using was fucked up or something for that 2 second shot.
There's always something wrong with watching movies revolving around american teenagers. English teenagers? Sure. Scottish teenagers? Great! Pakistani teenagers? why not? German teenagers? Ya. But teenagers from the USA? Fucking awful. Such stupid voices and weird idolisations. Nobody gives a fuck about this prom thing.
(and slaps to the Australians who imitate them closely.)
Ferris Buller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club would like to have a word with you
And maybe napoleon dynamite depending on the person

The wind that shakes the barley made me so angry, only movie ever to do so. Can't believe what happens at the end and how people respond to it.
The devil's double is good.

I don't know, I don't get the hype behind these 2. I can see why someone might like them, but I just do not like them at all.
I don't like Ferris Buller

wrong, Mean Girls is amazing
Riddick - 6/10
It has a really strong start I feel, but then as time goes on the film loses a bit of identity and starts becoming a bit choppy in terms of stuff happening. But it's a good film if you have nothing else you'd rather see at the cinema.
Plus literally every woman in this film is topless at some point, I have no idea why.
