Quiz Show (1994)
1960's quiz shows on TV turn out to be fixed as the producers try out some social engineering and product placement. Quiz Shows were the big ratings shows back in the day and the money was rolling in. John Turruro steals the show as the Jewish misfit who just keeps coming back to win again and Ralph Fiennes plays his opposite.
The film starts off quite slowly but the second half picked up the tension a bit. Watch out for before they were famous parts by Ethan Hawke and Calista Flockheart. Cameo from Rich Dreyfuss and an acting role for Martin Scorcese were a nice addition. Robert Redford directs in a slick manner with all the edges rounded off resulting in quite a sanitary experience. Overall not a bad film.
Now you see me (2013)
Well I quite liked the first half and then it fell into the abyss of ARGH MY EYES! Quite a good idea for a film and it was all looking quite nice until they decided to reveal the who did it. Blah blah blah, fuck this film.... end of review.
City of life and death
Fairly recent black and white tale from China about the massacre by the Japanese when they invaded Nanking. It would have been too easy to over do the evil of the Japs and forget that sometimes the horrors committed by these monsters almost turned them into victims themselves. This was a fucking awesome film because it really hit come the personal element of human tragedy and waste on both sides. Sure the Japs were the bad guys but they also paid a price. It follows a few characters but the Japanese soldier played by some dude was amazing. Theres a victory march in the film that was truly spellbinding. This was the best film I've seen in a while.
Conquest 1453
The fall of the Byzantine empire in Constantinople by the hand of the Turkish sultan and his armies is well documented in history. If you want an accurate retelling of an event like this then don't watch a film made by Islamic Turks who will use a film like this to portray a bunch of bloodthirsty bastards as gentlemen. I already knew the history of this battle and the main players involved and was horrified right to the end credits to see history completely rewritten. This is nothing more than an Islamic propaganda machine, this film is also shit. Hammy acting, terrible effects and a sheen that stinks of cheap TV movie. IMDB rating of something like 8.2.... The Turks can obviously internet.

Well alrighty then, I had me a double feature.
In Bruges - 9/10
Just as dark and fantastic as 7S
A Serbian Film - 3/10
This was stupid as fuck and I couldn't get over how ridiculous it was. Yes, fucked up obviously, but I kept laughing at the stupidity of it all to the point that I didn't care what shit they pulled next.
Zodiac 8/10
The Worlds End 7/10
Volcano - THE FUCKING FIRE TRUCK's LADDER COULDN'T CARRY THE WEIGHT OF THREE PEOPLE AND MELTED FROM JUST THE HEAT WAVE OF THE LAVA/10
Bubble Boy
Holy fuck Jake Gyllenhaughl's character was uncomprehendingly annoying. Gave up about ten minutes in. I actually liked this movie as a kid.
That was Jake Gyllenhal? Shit, I never even knew.
The Grandmaster - 5/10
Half of the shots were at 10fps. I guess they tried to make the whole thing dramatic and slow-mo.
Every character got a 30 second face shot with no expression. It was like Drive but on multiple drugs.
The fight scenes were worse than Cloverfield. At least in Cloverfield you could guess what's going on.

Cloverfield isn't a good example of bad cinematography since it's a found footage movie. I think given that fact it's actually quite good.
I didn't ever expect The Grandmaster to hold a candle to Ip Man

Yeah, you're right.
if you want bad cinematography watch Transformers 2 and 3
honestly the worst

Yeah those movies are vomit inducingly terrible to watch.
Haha oh wow. Talked a few friends today and a group of 3 of them agreed that Act of Valor was their favorite movie.

are they military or just have a hard-on for military?
cuz... i like that movie.
I didn't ever expect The Grandmaster to hold a candle to Ip Man
Several of my friends hate Ip Man because they said it felt like a nationalistic film. They also said the same thing for Fists of Fury.
are they military or just have a hard-on for military?

Neither, they just thought the movie had good plot and acting and it felt legitimate to them.
All of which I have the exact opposite opinion of
Explorers - 5/10
I saw only the beginning as a kid and I forgot all about the movie since.
The idea was pretty cool but the aliens were just cringeworthy.
Flashpoint Paradox - 8.5/10
Fast and the Furious 6. Solid 7/10
Plot was unexpectedly deeper than I thought.

shit, i had even forgotten that one came out
it was so quick, like, fast and the furious 6 is in production! now its done! oh wait cinemas stopped playing it already!
Riddick 7.5/10
Critics for some reason just seem to be intent on hating it. I and my friends however really enjoyed the movie. Its just nice to sit back and watch a fun movie that doesn't have some deep message or complex story like inception. I really liked the way it transitioned from the previous movie and it would be a solid 8/10 but the final act was rather off compared to the rest of the movie.
Crank: High Voltage
Well that was something. It was like the entire crew was on crack when they made this, which I think is exactly what they were going for. The camerawork is extremely energetic and never lets up for a second, it's just constant craziness from start to finish. I barely understood what the hell was going on apart from the basic plot but it didn't really matter. All that matters is it's nuts and funny what more can you ask for.
The World According to Dick Cheney - 9/10.
Documentary about Cheney and mostly about his work in the White House. A wonderful insight into American politics and to the identity of the man and all of his ambitions.
The World's End - 8/10
A great movie but I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz a lot more. Still enjoyed it immensely.
Moonraker - 5/10
A gondola that turns into a car? Lasers? A LOVE STORY BETWEEN A STEEL-TOOTHED MAN AND A BRAZILIAN WOMAN? Yeah, that's not the James Bond I've come to know and love.
oblivion 7/10
star trek into darkness 9/10
Is star trek into darkness a good movie for someone who never really liked the series? or just star trek in general. I mean I love space movies and sci fi not sure if its worth a watch.
