The Family- 3/10 Insidious Chapter 2- 3/10 I fucking loved watching Insidious Chapter 2, though. It's so campy that it's just hilarious. I saw both of these movies at the drive-in tonight, and man, at least Insidious was entertaining. The Family was a bore. A real waste of talent from Robert De Niro, but it's not surprising after his recent career choices as far as comedies go.
So you fucking loved it and you and you give it a 3/10?
Last film I watched was Le Havre. It had some great cinematography in it, almost every shot was a seperate photo. Besides that, I really liked the art direction. The combination of certain colors, the clothing and especially the locations really worked well together. The acting was good enough. Story wise, it was a little bit of a mess at some points which kinda interrupter the flow, but nothing too bad. 7.5/10
pitch black owns chronicles is terrible and riddick is just alright so it has been decreed it shall be
Riddick wasn't as good as Pitch Black, but it was better than "just alright" imo. Katee Sackhoff? Fuck yeah
The Green Mile - Still a 10 out of 10 for me. Been a couple years since I last watched this movie and I still can't find any major flaws in it. Great performances all around (especially from Michael Jeter and of course Michael Clarke Duncan) and the scene with [sp]the botched execution[/sp] still makes my blood run cold. I know just about everyone here has probably seen the film, but I still enjoy it immensely.
Watching [sp]John Coffey getting executed[/sp] made me cry like a bitch. That movie is amazing.
The Beast - that movie about giant squid We just rewatched it with my brother. We saw it years ago as kids and this time around we had a lot fun making fun of the plot.
Scent of a woman Top notch! If you like this and want some more i recommend sweet smell of success, night and the city and perhaps double indemnity. I reffer to the kickass dialogue(sadly only on pacino's part) ...and justice for all Tackling corruption once again, as in serpico and perhaps even in dog days afternoon Well, here it is, I'm running out of pacino movies, and I sure will miss seeing him in the movies. Since you liked Casino, I think Goodfellas and maybe The Departed should be up next. I recommend Goodfellas.
I recommend you check out some films scorsese recommends in his interviews, films that influenced him or the cinema in general. I have to catch up on some old flicks from the 50's that are supposed to have made a mark on the american gangster genre.
The Emperor's New Groove I love this movie. The mesoamerican-inspired art looks pretty, the character designs are great, and it is hilarious. Patrick Warburton is the best as usual, but the snappy writing for every character is fantastic. Tons of great verbal and visual humor.
Watching [sp]John Coffey getting executed[/sp] made me cry like a bitch. That movie is amazing.
I was fine in that part until [sp] John doesn't want to put the hood on because he's afraid of the dark [/sp]
I'm running out of pacino movies, and I sure will miss seeing him in the movies.
His recent HBO film, You Don't Know Jack is really good.
Riddick wasn't as good as Pitch Black, but it was better than "just alright" imo. Katee Sackhoff? Fuck yeah
q. how does riddick know her toenails and tits were the same colour if he sees everything in the same colour [editline]22nd September 2013[/editline] hes a pretty hetero dude for someone who sees everything with a hot pink filter
Shutter (2008) 2/10 what the fuck was I watching everything was so predictable
q. how does riddick know her toenails and tits were the same colour if he sees everything in the same colour [editline]22nd September 2013[/editline] hes a pretty hetero dude for someone who sees everything with a hot pink filter
That's when he's got the shades off silly
i feel like the shades would just dim it and maybe change the colour slightly but they wouldnt affect his vision! no prescription in the world could make bright as fuck and pink into normal vision
Is Sinister worth watching? I might get some popcorn and call a friend over to watch it.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Corruption...I'm getting on a roll with this type of film, first serpico then justice for all and now this. I couldn't say i dont enjoy it, so I'd like to hear some recommendations on this genre, if there's any other worth watching.
i feel like the shades would just dim it and maybe change the colour slightly but they wouldnt affect his vision! no prescription in the world could make bright as fuck and pink into normal vision
He can see ultraviolet and the shades filters those wavelengths away. He can still see normal colors without the shades, the colors are just normalized to a normal humans visual range. [sp]Or something along those lines...[/sp]
Lars and the Real Girl (2007) Ryan Gosling stars as a social misfit who suddenly turns up at his brother and sister in laws house with a new girlfriend, the only problem is she's one of those sex dolls. The ensuing story is wacky, heartwarming, a bit fucked up and engrossing. This really is an odd film but the performances from Gosling and co are first class. Theres moral crossroads the town and characters involved have to navigate but its one of those films you feel will all turn out in the end. Anyone wanting something warm but different will enjoy this film, I thought it was excellent. Walk the line (2005) I was never a big fan of the second wind Johnny Cash had with the new generation of kids and the whole tortured genius thing in this film could have been overplayed. It was overall quite a balanced portrayal and Witherspoons performance as his leading lady was excellent. Phoenix delivers as usual but I wasn't overly sure if the story of Cash was really that special. What works are the two lead performances but without that I doubt the film would carry strong enough. Quite a good film but not mindblowing. Much love.
Copland was quite good and don't be put off by Stallone, he was great in it and I hate him.
Rounders - 7.9/10 My two favorite actors in the lead roles (plus John Malkovich) in a really enjoyable relatively unknown movie of theirs.
Really wanting to want to see 'Tree of Life' but I'm not sure. I know AK'z and a couple of others rate it quite well but these films can be hard work. I guess you got to be in the right mood for this kind of material. Is it pretentious shit or is it actually meaningful?

Not something I understood fully on a first go, but an experience that stayed with me for sure. imo it's special; something to see in HD and to soothe the nights :) [editline]22nd September 2013[/editline]
you got to be in the right mood for this kind of material.
goes for most movies but yeah, this one you gotta devote time to on a good day.

Started rewatching Malcolm In The Middle to prepare for the Breaking Bad end. So good :)
It's good, but it shouldnt be that high in your priorities list. If you want to go on a feels ride,or the meaning of life films, theres other movies that I'd vote in favor of,the most brutal of wich would be the ascent(1977). see if you like it. There's also wages of fear, fires on the plain, los olvidados,aguirre,stalker....simply unbeatable classics. The film is a struck of genius. I saw itbefore knowing that the director was all that popular.
Blue is the warmest colour and le passe are looking like interesting film releases this next month. Stalker is another one I must get around to.

Prisoners - 9 / 10 World War Z - 4 / 10

Would have been better with the opening theme at the end.
Prisoners - 9 / 10
New film from 'Incendes' director Dennis Villeneuve, I heard good things about this. Tell us more about this film without the spoilers please honeycakes Boondock Saints (1999) I'm about 30 mins from the end and I just turned this shit off. 2 Irish brothers in Boston decide to go vigilante on the mobsters and Will Dafoe is the FBI agent following them. The acting is worse than a 70's porno and the dialog is just 'fucking fuck shit fuck' all the way through which just gets on your nerves. I've not seen anything this poor in a while.
