A kaiju film is not terrible. There is no such thing as a terrible kaiju film (discounting Godzilla's Revenge and Godzilla: Final Wars). Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla is a wonderful piece in the dawning final years of the Shōwa period. Featuring alot of 70s type of music and effects, GvMG is enjoyable enough as a ultra kaiju film. There are many flaws (including alot in the English dub but that's normal and the gorilla type of aliens in the film). But still GvMG is one of the most interesting epic Godzilla films of the Shōwa period.

I watched that movie 3 times and am still having a hard time trying to figure out what it's all about.
Just watched MIB 1 for the first time in about 8 years. It was just as entertaining as I remember.

I noticed this in the background of one of the shots. Kinda surreal.

[sp]I know he meant the Twin Towers.[/sp]

Its a very serious film for a Coen. I took that the film was just about a man who gets shit on by life at every turn, even though he hasn't actually done anything to deserve it. Right now I can understand this character despite my life usually being quite the opposite.
I didn't like the film but when you see a Coen name on it I guess it makes you unfairly expect something else.
Serious Man was a lot easier to figure out than No Country for Old Men...
The entire film you're pretty much at the driver seat for what the main character is feeling and what consequences his actions result in. That being said, it is a spiritual film which is why most people weren't on board at all.
so today i watched the amazing spiderman. it was fun to watch it, but it did feel a bit
pointless rebooting the movies since the first one came out something like 10 years ago.
one of the pros though is that the cgi was pretty great

I got sick through the middle of that in July last year, I have not even bothered finishing it
and yes, I was pissed I wasted 12 dollars going to a 3D movie that I didn't even finish
Grave of the Fireflies (1988) - 9/10
Simply beautiful. Shed man tears :'(
Steven Spielberg's Jaws - 10/10
Spielberg was a newbie to the movie industry in the 70s. He already directed two films 'The Sugarland Express' and a Television movie 'Duel'. But, of all the directors, he was chosen for the masterpiece and personally my favorite film of all time. Jaws. Steven Spielberg, unlike most directors, was someone special to the name 'director'. His favorite scene in the film was the scene involving Roy Scheider complaining about working the chum. He states he was in the back of the theatre, when Roy said that line, everyone began to laugh before wham, the shark appeared and caused everyone to change from laughing to screaming. Spielberg also chose not to reveal the shark until halfway through the movie, bringing the suspense. Similar to Alfred Hitchcock's style of film directing. The film was a hit, and also introduced the term merchandise marketing and Summer blockbuster. Jaws is a true masterpiece of cinema.

I rather enjoyed this film. I don't think it's as odd as people seem to think it is though

I found that movie painfully dull. I understand that it isn't supposed to be exciting but damn, it nearly put me to sleep.
Evil Dead (2013) 7/10
Enough violence, gore and goofy moments to satisfy hardcore Evil Dead fans. They could have done a better job with the pacing and the story, but overall it's very entertaining and much better than the average possession horror movies that come out these days.
I rather enjoyed this film. I don't think it's as odd as people seem to think it is though
well its not like i didnt enjoy it, i loved it actually!
but the ending and the intro really confuse me
Airplane! - 9/10
Fucking hilarious.
American History X - 9/10
Such an amazing story.
[sp]The ending almost had me in tears, it was so fucking sad to see Danny die like that.[/sp]
The Last Stand - 6/10
Generic action movie starring Arnold Schwarznegger. Nothing much to say
Sweeney (2013)
I didn't know they could make films this bad. Ray Winston's face must have ached after freezing that scowl for nearly 2 hours. He can be such a great actor despite his limited casting potential but this was dire. Plan B was like an amateur dramatics student and watching Hailey Atwell wrap herself around a man old enough to be her great grandad was about as pleasurable as seeing dog porn.
There were scenes stolen from better films and a cops vs robbers story by numbers that could have been a shitty pilot for a cop show. This film is total shit.
It's been a few weeks since I've seen something worth posting about.
just watched magnolia, fucking amazing and deserving of the 3 hour runtime
almost perfect, also tom cruise is basically your average reddit user (a men's' rights activist) in this
Just watched Tron Legacy, not sure why so many people dislike it. It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty damn good. It deserves at least a 7.
neither of them are very good films
Godzilla Vs. Biollante - 6/10
The newly released Miramax dvd is impressive in quality. But besides that let's go on into the film's basics. The movie feels rushed first of all, Biollante appears in the movie before Godzilla does. The female psychic in the movie is really annoying, even in the original Japanese track she is annoying. The premise of the film is quite heartwarming. Other than that the film isn't really anything special
iron man 3
Gwyneth paltro had a rocking body that made my body member phard. jr is good as always really, i liked how [sp]he had to battle his anxiety shit after the avengers, the movie was funny throughout but i could have done with a little less of the anti-climactic moments. the supporting characters were really great, the dynamics between stark and the kid were enjoyable. i can't remember what they called him but the osama bin laden like character was hilarious and although it was predictable i felt it added a lot. surprisingly i did not like guy pierce in that role, it just really did not fit for me. the effects were golden as I knew they would be. an issues why did jr have to run around like a fucking retard instead of just sending one of his 20 suits to grab pepper real quick. [/sp]
overall just a predictable marvel movie nothing ground breaking but really fun to watch and experience in a theature with good friends, p.s. I hate that fucking camera movment they do where the frame slides away ugh.
4 Women tony stark womanized out of 5
Did you not like her in The other Boleyn girl, Matchpoint, Lost in translation and the fantastic Vicky Cristina? I'll be the first to agree she's made some shit but theres some quality in her back catalog.
We do have rather different tastes in films.
I also enjoyed those pictures they took from her phone.
have only seen lost in translation but i didn't like her on it. i also didn't like those photos of her.
Watched "Never let Me Go" after reading about it here.
Didn't like it.
The characters were so.... dumb. The whole drama is based on artificial problems, not artificial as in "made up like Star Trek" but artificial within its own world.
All the time I was thinking "god why aren't they focusing on the REAL issues!?"
Apart from that Logans Run and The Island did a much better job at the material.
you are diseased
[editline]6th May 2013[/editline]
Them not questioning it is exactly the artificial issue I'm, talking about. They may have been brainwashed but they still are able to draw logic conclusions.
And they didn't do that.
because they're raised for it. theyre are specifically conditioned to just deal with it. yeah all of us would like to think we'd rebel against it, but that's the point. seeing these people so totally unable to do anything about it having been completely brainwashed their whole lives.
hey ho woah there, lost in translation is one of the rare films where the love is real and genuine.
her character may not be complex and her performance wasn't "other worldly", but she was played it so naturally just as Bill Murray did that there was very little/no deviation.
No I liked the movie (it wasn't amazing but I liked it) but she wasn't good in it and literally anyone else could have done a better job.
Wreck it Ralph was great 9/10. I love a good Disney movie. It's the type anyone can watch at anytime, plus it's pretty cute.
Silent Hill: Revelation
My god was this movie bad. One of the worst I have seen in a while. This is coming from someone who enjoyed the first movie.
[editline]5th May 2013[/editline]
I can't get over how bad it was holy shit.
