I brought Jaws for us to watch for Halloween everyone was optimistic about watching it, the Science teacher was gonna choose it but then all a sudden one of the kids that were begging not to watch Jaws because it was 'scary' chose Jack and Jill, and told the others who were not interested in whispered them to vote too. Halloween ruined, at least the math teacher thought it would be a great idea to watch it, everyone in math enjoyed Jaws. I was sad I had to sit through that atrocious Jack and Jill though during Science, it wasn't even a Halloween film I always bring Jaws for Halloween, since 5th grade all the way to now
The World's End 7/10 Very funny throughout, but at the same time it had this feeling of profound sadness weaving throughout, more visible in some places than others. Not a big fan of the ending.
Dude, in my high school film class, we had a lesson on cult films. Nobody knew what Young Frankenstein, Rocky Horror or This Is Spinal Tap were either.
those aren't cult films, well at least the latter two aren't really cult films anymore, seeing as how their names have gotten bigger. and young frankenstein was never a cult film to begin with, none of mel brooks' films are. a more modern cult film would be like forbidden zone.
"Halloween" is best Halloween movie.
I prefer Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street.
I like how there isn't really closure. You're thrown into this guy's life, see a (rather crazy) moment in it, then you leave his life.
Coen films rarely have proper closure tbh.
those aren't cult films, well at least the latter two aren't really cult films anymore, seeing as how their names have gotten bigger. and young frankenstein was never a cult film to begin with, none of mel brooks' films are. a more modern cult film would be like forbidden zone.
A cult film is a film that wasn't successful when it was in theatres but later gained a fanbase. Rocky Horror is like one of the best examples for a cult film. its became huge but that's because of word of mouth and midnight screenings. I think the Coen brothers are kinda either, you love them or you don't. Imo they're in the top tier of filmmakers in history. But I know a few people who don't like them at all. They are quirky and weird even when it's subtle and their screenplays are so original every time and they do stray from genre classification and the 3-act structure (a bit) so they're not as easy to digest as a lot of films.
Goodfellas 9.5/10, great crime film. Some parts nearly gave me a heart attack though.
"Halloween" is best Halloween movie.
It's a great movie, but idk if I had to watch a halloween movie with friends I wouldn't choose it. It's quite an "old fashioned" slasher that today's young audiences would not appreciate as much. I love the remake tho, the second half isn't very good but I still find it a good movie to watch on halloween and it's fun to watch with friends.
speaking of unnecessary horror remakes did anyone here see the F13 remake? was it complete dogshit?
speaking of unnecessary horror remakes did anyone here see the F13 remake? was it complete dogshit?
It's an "okay" slasher flick, not good or terrible. it oozes with cliches, but if you just want some mindless violence and jason action I'd say go watch it.
8/10 A Fantastic movie adaptation of the Broadway Musical that was an adaptation of the cult 1960s movie starring Jack Nicholson. Rick Moranis plays a fantastic Seymour Krelbourn and Ellen Greene reprises her role from the broadway musical as Audrey. Allstar cast of Steve Martin as Orin Scrivello, DDS, Audrey's abusive boyfriend and Vincent Gardenia as Mr. Mushnik. The Entire story is extremely solid and faithful to the original musical. The Ending was a complete disappointment though, but due to Test audiences who were unhappy with the sad ending in the original it was scrapped for a more happy ending that was less true to the original broadway musical. Had the original been in the movie I had watched it would've had a perfect 10/10.
"Halloween" is best Halloween movie.
Wrong, Ghostbusters
"Halloween" is best Halloween movie.
While not a Halloween film, I try to watch Watchmen every year.

The Purge - 2/10 bad plot, bad acting, bad editing, bad special effects, bad everything.
they filmed the original ending and put it on the bluray release
I thought the original ending was too grim
I thought the original ending was too grim
The Original ending is how the original musical ended and yes it was pretty grim but that's what made it great
The Hangover Never seen it but the recent talk about TBL and other comedies made me watch it. I'll be honest it wasn't that good imo. A few parts were kind of humorous but most of it felt extremely forced and unfunny. Felt more of a competition for the writers to one-up each other on ridiculousness
The hangover is one of the movies that are hated by most people here, but I gotta admit, I definitely enjoyed it. I don't know if it'd be as funny nowadays, especially since I saw it when I was 14, but still.
I enjoyed it when I first watched it, but that was way back when I had no real bearing on how it was gonna go. I popped it in for a second viewing one day and it was disappointing as hell.

The Usual Suspects Fucking Keyser Soze man
the hangover movies are the unfunniest things ever. i was just confused after the first one. everyone said it was hilarious, but much like an episode of 2 and a half men, it was conpletely devoid of jokes. like, a scene would end and i'd be like "wait, where was the funny part? which part was the kicker? which bit was i even supposed to laugh at? baffling [editline]27th September 2013[/editline] was it when he called his friend a faggot??? thats not funny. it didnt even have any context to be used!! WHERE IS THE COMEDY
The Usual Suspects Fucking Keyser Soze man
Easily Singer's best work so far.
Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me - Unsure/10. It's certainly bleaker than the series but that doesn't make it a bad film. I still think it's a good film but holy fuck it's pretty much a crazy horror film.
Cobra 7/10 I'll be honest, this movie had me sold just on the poster alone. Stallone's glistening sunglasses, tight jeans, tighter shirt, matchstick in the mouth, big ol' laser-sighted SMG, pearl-grip pistol, and not one but two badass slogans... I knew I was in for a ride. I had no idea. Cobra is not a very good movie by conventional means but if you like over-the-top '80s action movies it's the greatest. Hardcore cop Marion Cobretti - alias Cobra - works on the police "zombie squad" going after the worst psychos in the city. When not on the job, he enjoys drinking Pepsi, eating pizza (after cutting it with scissors), cleaning his gun (with tools kept in an egg carton), and educating others about proper parking etiquette. But a dangerous threat has emerged - the monstrous Night Slasher kills victim after victim, with no apparent rhyme or reason. He and his gang of axe-wielding psychopaths push for a new world order where the strong kill the weak. When a beautiful model sees the Slasher in the act, Cobra must protect her whilst attempting to find the serial killer and put an end to his plot. Technically this film is very weak. Apart from Cobretti, I cannot tell you the name of any other character in this movie. There's the straight-laced liberal cop who gets mad at Cobra's tactics, the frustrated Chief of Police, the "wisecracking" sidekick, the smokin' hot witness... and that's about all the development they get. When Stallone is far and away the most charismatic actor in a movie, that's not a good sign. Cobra drops you right in the middle of the action - weeks into the Slasher's rampage. Sometimes this works, as a movie eventually adds backstory and more, but Cobra has no time for such frivolities. It prefers to spend its taut 87-minute runtime elsewhere... I think this is the most '80s movie I've ever seen. During a confrontation with a gunman in a grocery store, Cobra pauses to sip a room-temperature Coors while hiding by a Pepsi display. He lives next to a giant neon PEPSI sign and listens to Miami Sound Machine. Later, Cobra decides to investigate the criminal underbelly for clues about the Slasher, and the film suddenly turns into a bizarro music video: music blasts as slow pans of homeless people in boxes are cut back-and-forth with images of robots. Eventually (a little) context is added - the homeless are in the seedy part of town with Cobretti and the robots are on the set of a photo shoot - but it is still quite a strange scene. The Night Slasher, wild-eyed and built like a tank, wields a six-inch blade with spiked brass knuckles and a sawed-off double-barreled shotgun. Later, the greatest car chase ever put on film takes place, through highways, hills, parking garages, boat docks, and more with explosions aplenty. In another scene, Cobra guns down dozens of crazed bikers from the back of a pickup truck, with an SMG as loud as a minigun. And, as was required by law in the '80s, the film ends with a climactic showdown in an industrial factory, surrounded by metal and flames. All this is accompanied by Stallone's cheesy quips and one-liners and laughable attempts at characterization. This movie is amazing. Perhaps the pinnacle of 1980s cheesy B-movie action, with a groovy soundtrack and a badass cop as cool as a can of Pepsi.
Cobra 7/10 Will update with a review when I'm not dead tired this movie is amazing
Holy cliched-as-fuck tagline Batman!
Holy cliched-as-fuck tagline Batman!
The whole movie is insanely cliched in the best way possible.
Du Levande What a strange movie. It basically consists of moments out of people's lifes. It has a strange kind of humor with great composition. It's comically awkward loads of times and very amusing. 8/10
Hm. Last 2 movies I watched. Alrighty. Pacific Rim 6/10 Had decent visuals. Not a whole lot of character development or anything that makes a film truly great, but I didn't come to see great characterization. I came to see giant robots fighting giant monsters. I got exactly that and it reminded me of my childhood, watching Godzilla smash the shit out of everything. The World's End 5/10 I didn't quite like this very much. I typically enjoy Simon Pegg's work, but I don't really know. Something about the movie rubbed me the wrong way. It was good fun and I had a few great laughs. I just can't find a good reason for it to get a higher rating though. It was exceptionally unexceptional.
2 Guns 4/10 dumb as fuck, also was pg 12 but you saw few sex scenes (even boobs) and lots of gruesome ways of people getting killed wtf Wolf 7/10 dutch movie about a morrocan street guy who gets into boxing and works for turks and things go bad, but the interesting part for me was his relationship with his family and friends which is probably the highlight of the movie for everyone. Rango 9/10 finally managed to see it. super good and felt so fresh, really not what i had expected also great music
