is K-PAX any good?
Just watched "Dead Poets Society" for the first time. Now... I'm a grown man and I cried like a bitch. I cried more than I've ever cried in my life. This movie is just... I have no words. It fits no scale, at least not one that I know of.
2 Guns 4/10 dumb as fuck, also was pg 12 but you saw few sex scenes (even boobs) and lots of gruesome ways of people getting killed wtf
It's not pg-13, it's rated R, there are a bunch of Fucks, how could it possibly be pg-13?
It's not pg-13, it's rated R, there are a bunch of Fucks, how could it possibly be pg-13?
that's what i thought exactly, i was shocked because right behind me was a kid and his father but the kid looked 10 or something im not kidding.
K-PAX 7.5/10 a pleasant and uplifting film. Beautifully filmed and acted. The only real issue I have with is that it rises many questions but ultimately doesn't answer as many as you'd wish. Still a great watch.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone: 8/10 It had some hilarious moments, plus Carrell has a special place in my heart.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone: 8/10 It had some hilarious moments, plus Carrell has a special place in my heart.
Steve Carrell is awesome, but I'm sorry that movie was awful. [editline]27th September 2013[/editline] The ending was great though
yeah i couldnt get past the first 30 minutes of that movie, it was just cringey
Steve Carrell is awesome, but I'm sorry that movie was awful. [editline]27th September 2013[/editline] The ending was great though
yeah I was just coming off of the ending so I think i was thinking it was better than it was. Maybe a 6.5-7 out of ten. But seriously the ending was hysterical.
Naw, man. Tangled is seriously one of the best Disney movies in my opinion. Probably one of the biggest surprises ever for me.
Rapunzel is best princess
Rapunzel is best princess
You crazy. Belle is obviously best princess.
Princess Leia is the best and now that she counts as a disney princess it's settled.
is K-PAX any good?
Yep. I remember liking it, but it's been fucking ages since I last saw it, so, I can't give you much else. Mr. Nobody... I... think I liked it?
Prisoners 8/10 Pretty good acting overall and the lack of music during most of the intense things kept me on my seat. I would recommend.
Do The Right Thing- 5/5 First Spike Lee film I've seen aside Inside Man but I figure that doesn't really count as a Spike Lee Joint since it's not his kind of film usually, at all. I absolutely loved this film. From its stylish direction, great screenplay to some brilliant performances (namely John Turturro and Danny Aiello- also a really good, early role from Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad), and Samuel L. Jackson as a radio DJ, just credited as Sam Jackson back then. I can't believe people call this film racist. This is probably the most anti-racism film I've ever seen. I've read things saying it's both anti-white and anti-black. It's just how people take the film. There are good and bad (although not so black and white at all) characters from all races in the film. In fact the characters are all very complex and incredibly well written. Black characters don't approve of some of the other black characters' supremacist/racist actions, and the same for the Americans. The point of the film is, to me, that racism and discrimination can come from anyone to anyone, and that it never leads to good things and only causes trouble. Highly, highly recommend this film. I think it could change some of the sensationalist views some people have on Spike Lee. I've never considered him a racist personally. I don't agree 100% on his politics but I don't think he's a black supremacist or anything. People need to get over that shit. Punch Drunk Love- 3/5 Definitely my least favourite Paul Thomas Anderson film although still a solid one. Adam Sandler delivers a very good performance in his most dramatic and emotional film to date. He portrays his character perfectly, from his little gestures and ticks to the way he speaks, looks and acts. Great casting and great acting. I really wish he did more dramatic acting because this proves he's actually very good (although PTA would have helped get such a performance, I'm sure. At the same time Sandler works with pretty shitty directors a lot so they won't get a great performance. I wouldn't necessarily say it's all him) It was kinda quirky although not really funny but I quite enjoyed it. Definitely weak considering PTA's other work but still a good watch. Rushmore- Can't decide if it's a 3 or 4/5 Solid performances all round, loved Bill Murray, Max was an asshole and I don't think [sp]he deserved redemption- he should have just fucked up and been punished for being a terrible person[/sp] The film got much darker than I expected and it kinda surprised me but I thought the second half of the film was way better than the first. Funny and quirky and clever, good screenplay. Very well directed. Idk I liked it and I'll be looking into Wes Anderson's work more but I know his works' hard to get first time round apparently, so I'll probably watch it again at some point.

where do I say I hated it It's not very funny but not because jokes drop flat, it's just not a comedy film. Its a drama. And I mean it's a solid film but compared to a film like There Will Be Blood it just pales (since TWBB is one of the best ever imo)
I didn't say you explicitly said you hated it wtf It's just that your comparisons with the director's other movies as well as the 3/5 score make it seem like you didn't like it as much as the rest of your review implies
well you said it sounds like I loved and hated it but really I didn't love or hate it at all. Somewhere more in the middle. 3/5 is a solid score imo. A 3/5 is a good film. Imo the best part of the film was Adam Sandler's great performance and he deserves all the praise he got, so that's the aspect I gave attention to. And I consider PTA to be one of the best contemporary directors so I would obviously expect a great film from him. Instead I just got a good film.
3/5 is a 6/10, that doesnt sound very high and i thought it was pretty great, but oh well, opinions, opinions
Prisoners 8/10 Loved this movie, everyone's acting was really intense. I felt bad for all of the characters.
Mr. Nobody... I... think I liked it?
I felt the same. I didn't completely understand it, but in a good way.
The Wind Rises 5/10 This film really strays from what makes Miyazaki movies so special, fantasy and magic. There is no fantasy in this film, period. I found much of the film to be extremely dull and some parts even felt completely pointless. The movie also has an extremely difficult time trying to follow Horikoshi's life and clumsily stumbles between each different part of it. Shame it's not a very good movie for his last one.
Instructions Not Included 9/10 Went to see Prisoners but arrived 30 mins early so we decided to sit in on another movie for 30 mins and decided to skip Prisoners and watch Instructions instead. Great acting, great drama, and great comedy. Everything just flew together so nicely and nothing felt forced; everything was just natural. I'll be surprised if this doesn't win some kind of award.
Don Jon - 7/10 amusing movie, with an interesting end for a comedy. definitely could have gone on longer, but many parts were redundant, like when he was at the gym or driving. Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job directing/writing/acting this movie though.
Side Effects - 4.5/5 Didn't go into it with much expectations, but definitely enjoyed the trip it took the viewer through. Great psychological thriller, will be disappointed if you're expecting a pseudo-documentary about pharmaceuticals.
