Hunger Games (2012) What happens when Arnold Wartynigger has a sex change and decides to make a sequel to The Running Man called Battle Royal pt 3? You get Hunger Games. I was expecting the worst but the first half I must admit quite entertained. It doesn't pitch you straight into the action but reels us in quite nicely where even those who are party to this vile game are somewhat warm and fuzzy. Part 2 of the film is the usual cat and mouse game of survival but what else could it be? Too many films like this are coming out like 'Now you see me' where things start off quite promising but then the writer loses interest half way through and fucks the rest up. Lawrence is pretty, the acting is so so and the ending predicatable and leaves it nicely for the upcoming sequel. Fuck that. Lenny Kravitz should try acting again, he was good. This film passed time and thats about it. (User was permabanned for this post ("alt of jewdozer" - Rusty100))
This review is so confusing
What part of my post would you like help with brother? Watch out fucker, I've had a beer! [editline]4th October 2013[/editline]
This review is so confusing
I noticed you're Brazillian, I've got a Brazillian, I hear you guys are born with a ball between your legs.
Twelve Monkeys Holy fuck. This movie is fucking good. In fact, its a fucking masterpiece. Probably Bruce Willis' best movie after Die Hard but before Looper/Pulp Fiction/Fifth Element. Seriously this movie is fucking good I just can't put it into words right now. The acting was just incredible all around, especially with Pitt's strong performance. The plot was clever and mastefully crafted, the sets were incredible, the music was stupendous. Just holy shit
Jennifer Lawrence is a pretty decent actress, her performance in Hunger Games was really depressing to watch though. When it first came out, I totally forgot about Running Man. But then a year ago I watched it and I would agree that some elements in the film was ripped off from Running Man. The Running Man is a awesome 80's movie, go watch it along with Commando as a double-feature
Well, at least people aren't complaining that it ripped off Battle Royale. Still, I liked Hunger Games. I like it even better with a Rifftrax commentary, but on it's own it's pretty decent.

Alien 3 - 6.5/10 I know there is a lot wrong with this movie, but I didn't find it to be all that bad. Alien Ressurection is the worst imo.
^Regular or Assembly Cut?
Cool Hand Luke 8/10 Man what a movie. [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] Gravity 8/10 too. Probably the tensest I've felt watching a movie in a long time.
Get Carter (remake) 3/10 Bleh, it's just another shoddy remake of a better film. Sylvester himself wasn't that bad but everything else (except Michael Caine of course) was. Its biggest sin is that it's terribly boring despite the creators' desperate attempts to excite things by putting in action scenes. Jacob's Ladder 9/10 Still just as good as I remember it, maybe better. Always picking up on new things whenever I watch this movie. That hospital scene is still as creepy as ever.
Gravity 8/10 too. Probably the tensest I've felt watching a movie in a long time.
I am legit scared by that movie. You know the sweaty tingling on your palms or feet you get when you're stressed out? That's what I get when I see the trailer. It's really powerful and looks fantastic (and I thought Children of Men was very good), but man oh man floating adrift in space with nothing is terrifying to me. That scene where one of the astronauts is skidding along the ISS trying desperately to grasp something is scary as heck.
No! (2012) Gael Garcia Bernal stars in this story of the No campaign to take down the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile. Whilst the story isn't totally following how everything actually went down it does capture the changing game of spin style politics that was needed to make change. Bernal stars as an advertising expert called in to head the No campaign and he gives a great performance as always. The look of the film is done in the style of the 80's with picture ghosting and colour bleed to make the whole experience authentic so that was a nice touch. The story could have focused quite heavily on the torture, missing persons and state murders but it simply mentions this stuff in context of the point of focus which is Bernal and his campaign. Whilst this film isn't exactly a world cinema classic, it does tell a story that was important to Chile and toys with how voters will be influenced. Gone are the days of hard fact election campaigns and here are the days of spin and propaganda. How we crave for our innocence.... Good film, good cast and nice story.
I love this film, one of the very best political thrillers of recent times. ;)
Somebody go see Gravity and tell us how good it was. I'm seeing fairly universal critical acclaim for it, but the reviews I have seen from "unofficial" sources seem to think it's rather meh.

Just got back from Gravity. 8.4/10 this movie man, its fresh and does things ive never felt before, tense indeed if i had to describe the feeling this movie has it'd be the feeling of losing grip, of being pulled away, of losing control. great ost with great visuals but it's those claustrophobic and dizzy making shots what really made me sweat
Came back from Gravity as well, give it a 9/10. Fucking good character development, and great action. Keeps me rooted to the seat. And fucking love the credits song.
Man I'm annoyed Gravity isn't out til November 8 in the UK. However today I saw Prisoners again and managed to make it through to the end without the fire system shutting down. Great film. 4/5 A great story with a story that keeps giving and feels fresh and original. It keeps going places you don't really expect and I like that a lot. It plays on a few conventions and raises interesting questions about morality and the lack of black and white between good and evil- always a shade of grey. I have only one complaint about the film and its story really and it's not major at all, it's that after the final reveal [sp]I feel like the Aunt's reasoning for capturing the kids was a bit silly and her acting became overplayed as did her dialogue[/sp]. The actual reveal and twist was a good one but it's just I wasn't a fan of that. However it looked amazing (Roger Deakins shot it, so no surprises there) and had really fantastic performances, especially Jake Gyllenhaal. I really hope he gets an Oscar nomination. I feel the same about Hugh Jackman, definitely deserves a nod. The best performance I've seen either actor give. I still think Matthew Mcconaughey deserves the best lead actor Oscar though, for Mud. My favourite performance of the year. Paul Dano was also really good although he wasn't in it as much as I expected. The film was darker than I thought it would be, despite its child abduction theme, but I don't fault it for that at all. In fact I praise it for being willing to go as far as it did. It didn't feel like a Hollywood film, it felt real and there was legitimate tension and suspense in the film. Loved this. One of the best of the year. [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] also jake gyllenhaal had great hair [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] also for anyone else who saw the film-- anyone know what Gyllenhaal's tattoos were? I noticed he had a masonic ring on. Not sure of the point of either but they're interesting additions to the character. [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] actually its kind of a foreshadowing in itself as [sp]Catholicism and Freemasonry don't exactly go hand in hand. Catholicism is against Freemasonry. Not sure why but it's not allowed for a catholic to be a Freemason in the Church's eyes. Don't know if it works the other way. It's considered a cult I think. Or something along those lines.[/sp] and there are some religious undertones throughout the film.
Gravity was awesome, solid 9 out of 10. Visuals were perfect (that FPP scenes), but I loved that ambient score more. Clooney was like Clooney, but it was probably the best film of Sandra Bullock.
Kids (1995) Larry Clark should still be making films. He also did Ken Park which was equally as gritty as this one that came before it and this time we delve into the youth of a NY area who are a product of disfunctional society where girls are bitches and the days priorities are smoking blunks, skating and getting laid at a party. Clark avoids the usual glossy shots but reveals a dark section of youth who have no care for anybody other than their selfish needs and ego. The 2 main kids are fantastic as a pair of wasters, one of which is obssessed with having sex with very young girls who are still virgins. Chloe Sevegny and her fat nose was not so good because she looked like the only one who was acting. I don't think I've seen something quite this realistic in terms of fly on the wall grit. The manner of the performances remind me much of the small Brit flics such as 'This is England' because there really isn't anything to make this feel like fiction. The theme was interesting, the scenes were powerful and the film was great. Higthly recommended. Watched Lola Rennt a couple days ago in my German class. Was interesting. I didn't mind it, I thought it was a decent movie. Not my favorite, but probably would rewatch after a year or so. The idea of the different "runs" was interesting. The story was my least favorite bit I'd say, but I can't exactly point out why. I do like to think that the actual story ended after the first "run," though, and the rest are "what if" scenarios. I enjoyed the visuals, and the soundtrack compliments what is happening quite well. Overall probably 7.5/10.
Apocalypto Meh, as a movie it was fairly good. Just...Mel Gibson's total disregard for history of any kind makes me want to barf. Its almost as if he's never read a history book before...ever. And this can apply to almost all of his movies. Disagree with me all you want but I universally hate almost all of his movies and Gibson as a person.

It's funny how so many scottish people take it as fact.
JFK was factually a load of bull, but the film itself was monumentally good. If you want to learn the facts, watch documentaries and not reinterpretations/dramatisations.
Gravity - 0/10 Overrated pile of shit, it's literally Sandra "can't act worth dick" Bullock screaming for an hour and a half and retarded antics in space. Fuck this movie. nah jk haven't seen it yet Into the Wild - 8.5/10... I'd love to just drop everything and live off of the land some day but actually prepared unlike this guy. Great scenery, great music, and emotional as hell. Too bad the guy was a selfish asshole.
