There Will Be Blood My first movie with Day-Lewis. It's definitely a movie worth watching. I guess I was a bit overhyped by people giving it a lot of praise because I can see all the qualities but it didn't leave me "super" impressed. But the movie does everything right. I just wish I was less influenced. Django Unchained Another great movie from Tarantino. Great actors and performances. The only thing I noticed was the length. I wasn't bored at all but at moments I noticed I was watching the movie for a while.
I really can't even rate any scary movies, I get scared way too easily and cant pay attention to any other aspects of the movie
I don't even watch horror movies because I'm too chicken. I guess I did see Alien and The Thing but I'm legitimately too spooked to watch the Evil Dead movies.
Synecdoche, New York was far 2deep4me. In a confusing for the sake of being confusing kind of way. It has been a long time since I watched it though so maybe I'll give it another shot.
It's a superb experience, but it'll take a few watches to really get into what it is. It's not confusing at all though.
Who hates it again?
audiences on RT give it a 48%, and I don't read very good things about it overall.

If Before Midnight gets an oscar nomination next year, just shows that smaller films need recognition. It's superb..
If you watched Alien and The Thing you'd probably be fine with Evil Dead.
Okay. I was under the impression that the first Evil Dead movie was more of a straight-up horror while the second and third got more goofy.
Okay. I was under the impression that the first Evil Dead movie was more of a straight-up horror while the second and third got more goofy.
The first is a little goofy, but in the right mindset, it can still scar the shit out of you. In a good way, of course.
Prediction: Jewdozer just saw a movie
The Wave (2008) A high school teacher in Germany gets the class that will discussing autocracy or dictatorship for a week. He decides to try something new out but as things unfold it becomes a beast nobody can control. Theres been experiments like this before in uni's and the results are startling when you consider civilized people can turn into something quite scary. Theres flaws to the film but I warmed to some of the characters quite well and it did get exciting. Overall this was a very good watch and well worth your time.
If Before Midnight gets an oscar nomination next year, just shows that smaller films need recognition. My guess is you seen it but thats my best shot for now comrade filmfuhrer. [editline]9th October 2013[/editline] Stealing beauty would be my second guess for a sweet one.
Yes I get to be here when it happens. Oh, erm. Movie rating. They Live 7/10. Things happened too quickly.
The Conjuring - 6.5/10... Occasionally spooky. Mostly it was just pretty entertaining. I felt like it suffered from the same issue as Insidious, it starts off great and then it just gets really goofy as it goes on. The performances by everyone were great and it had a fairly effective musical score that managed to creep out more than anything else. It's yet another overrated horror film that the press latched onto, I was expecting to incapacitated by terror and was left only mildly spooked out... which wore off before the movie was over.

I should make a thread about it some time.
-Snip, wrong thread-
Full Metal Jacket - 10/10 caught it on TV and I'd only seen it once, so I gave it a watch. I forgot how tough it is to watch well, this movie successfully depressed the hell outta me [sp]The way everyone dies (especially Touchdown) was just fuckin tragic.[/sp]
Eh it was very, very good but I don't think it was 10/10 worthy. The movie felt disjointed somehow to me, but that might've been the point. I liked the first half very much but it was hard for me to just be dropped into the second act. Like I said that might've been the point to outline how sudden the war was for a lot of people but as a movie I didn't like that decision. Graph of movie's plot for me:
I feel like the movie actually could have easily been split into two separate short films. I really, really like the first half, but I really, really like the second half slightly less. Still my favorite 'Nam movie, though.
We can tell:
They needed more Adam Baldwin.
I just love Kubrick in general. 2001 is my favorite sci-fi. FMJ is my favorite 'Nam. The Shining is my favorite horror. A Clockwork Orange is my favorite whatever-genre-it-is. Dr. Strangelove is also rather good.
I think A Clockwork Orange is officially listed as Sci-Fi.
Speaking of 'Nam movies, I think I'm gonna marathon some. Start with First Blood, then Platoon, then The Deer Hunter, and wrap it up with Full Metal Jacket. I've never seen Platoon or Deer Hunter, so those should be interesting. [editline]9th October 2013[/editline] I'll take recommendations too though. No Apocalypse Now, I just recently watched Redux. Great film if you've got a couple hours.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with either of those. The Deer Hunter runs for 182 minutes but I don't think you'll have any problem watching it all the way through. [editline]10th October 2013[/editline] Yeah you'll definitely have no problem with it since you've watched Apocalypse Now: Redux. [editline]10th October 2013[/editline] Other pretty good Vietnam war movies you could check out are Born on the Fourth of July and Hamburger Hill.
all kubrick movies own, except strangelove which is awful and eyes wide shut which is just ok
Blade Runner (Final Cut) - 10/10 Great film, first time seeing it. The music and effects are just so perfect with the story.
all kubrick movies own, except strangelove which is awful and eyes wide shut which is just ok
Dr Strangelove might be a bit overrated (specially in regard of other Kubrick's films), but I would never call it an awful film.
Blade Runner (Final Cut) - 10/10 Great film, first time seeing it. The music and effects are just so perfect with the story.
The Blu-Ray transfer for it is extraordinary as well, 30 years old and it looks like a new film.
Lebanon, 8, maybe 9 out of 10. I just love it, the fact that almost the entire film is filmed inside the tank gives it an intense feeling of claustraphobia and intense action. It's acted out very well, and shows a great amount of emotion, most particularly at the moments when the gunner zooms into a persons face and has them staring back at the camera. recommend you watch it
