It's actually hard to explain, Drive has a very tense atmosphere like No Country For Old Men. It's something about the camera shots, soundtrack, acting and pacing that makes it such an incredible experience.
I like Drive mostly because it's pretty slow paced and has cool characters which clash together at the end with all the non-expectated violence. No Country For Old Men was also pretty great in that aspect, I was sitting at the edge of my seat all the time.
Give Blood Simple a try, then.
Thanks, also I just noticed that I posted it in the wrong thread. I also wanted to see A Place Beyond the Pines but the actual plot sounds really fucking cliche and boring.
I went to watch Machete, It went from being good to really fucking awesome when spacex and elon musk showed up
machete is awful it is the worst grindhouse film to date

[QUOTE=jewtozer;42525823]I always say this about the Jew. He is the only director I can think of that could end a Lolokaust film with a happy end. I felt like Schindler's should have rolled the credits 10 mins earlier.

I really loved the first Machete. Can't wait to see Machete Kills.
Pacific Rim - 8/10
Good old fashioned robots vs monsters movie.
It was incredibly predictable, but highly enjoyable.
yo rusty can you upload this photo of you with the guy from the human centipede? its a funny picture
unless it was someone else and im confused
no that was me

how was the human centipede guy like? or did you just ask him for a pic and then awkwardly walk away?
he attended a screening i went to and you could see him after the movie. he is really soft spoken and just seems like a big movie nerd (hence the evil dead shirt). swell dude. also, i was too stoked to be awkward, look at me in that photo i am radiating
Did you show him your karate moves?
sorry rusty i thought the bright radiating was from the camera flash that hit the mirror. my mistake

Into the Wild- 4/5
the first film I've seen directed by Sean Penn and I loved it so I think I'll seek out some more of his directorial efforts. A brilliant story with a great lead performance by Emile Hersch, imo he deserved an Oscar nod although looking at the other candidates it's not too surprising he didn't (Daniel Day Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, George Clooney, Viggo Mortensen and Johnny Depp- although he was probably better than Johnny Depp) Absolutely stunning visually as well as beautifully told. I really enjoyed this film and its 2 1/2 hour running time was a little intimidating but it didn't feel as long as it was at all. Not a single moment dragged on.
Highly recommend this.
Machete Kills- 4/5 (im being way generous here but it was fun as fuck and just awesome so idc. it was just so damn entertaining from beginning to end). I'm also a huge Robert Rodriguez fan.
This was just so much fun. I loved the first film and was worried this might end up falling into the kind of films is parodying or something, becoming a cheesy shitty action film- but no. It's cheesy as fuck and it's kinda shitty but it's deliberate and it's so over the top it's ridiculous. From throwing people into a helicopter's spinning blades with their own intestines to a gun that turns people inside out, great dialogue and an amazing ensemble cast... If you're looking for a good way to kill some time and have a load of fun this is a great pick.
Danny Trejo is awesome reprising his role as Machete for the seventh time (4 spy kids films, the grindhouse trailer, and the original Machete feature- now this). Perfect line deliveries, still badass as hell, still really short.
Charlie Sheen is great as the president. Amber Heard is hot as all hell. Michelle Rodriguez is still badass. Demian Bicher, a talented Mexican actor, is a great crazy man. Mel Gibson is an awesome villian. Walt Goggins, Cuba Gooding Jr, Lady Gaga and Antonio Banderas are all great. (The reveal when Walt Goggins [sp]pulls off his face and underneath is fucking Cuba Gooding Jr[/sp] I lost my shit. So. So. Funny.
And total sequel bait at the end, which looks like it'll be awesome- although tbh it probably won't be as good considering despite the original doing quite well, Machete Kills is flopping so assuming it gets made it'll probably just be a DVD release, thus lower budget. Thus less good. Cos the fake trailer had a whole load of bigger actors and I dunno if they'll be in it, which is a shame.
Also there are a lot of Star Wars references in this film. I dunno.
oh god i'm currently watching the way way back
i'm cringing so hard my skin just fell off

The World's End.
3.5/5
It's good. It's funny.
Pontypool- 6/10
I was surprised at the originality it was able to bring to the "zombie" type genre. It also satisfied the need I've had recently for a good bottle movie (the whole thing takes place across 3 or 4 rooms). However I don't feel like this is a movie that I'd want to rewatch again.

I remember this film. [sp] It lacks a good plot[/sp]
World War Z - I somewhat liked it for the most part, only they didn't exactly explain how the vaccine camoflauges the human. They said the zombies only responded to sound, so do they respond to smell now aswell? It made sense when the guy in Israel crouched down and stayed quiet, thus hiding himself from the horde, but then the smell would've... ah fuck it, just another movie which had a good idea, but didn't exactly explain itself./10
OH, not to mention the dubstep in the credits.

you didn't understand what was going on. strange cause it was explained very clearly: [sp]the zombies attack only healthy humans, those who don't have a serious illness. Brad Pitt injected himself with one to not be attacked. Thus "camouflaging" as an infected.[/sp]

No big deal. Happy to help.
Undisputed 2
I watched the first one a while ago and thought it was reasonably good. I was surprised to find there was a sequel and even more surprised that it had a higher IMDB score than the first so I decided to give it a try.
For a direct to video sequel I gotta say it was pretty good. A bit cheesy / cliche at times but all in all it was pretty entertaining. Some pretty good fighting too.
So yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. I'd give it a 7.3/10.
There's a third one too which I might give a shot.
Finally convinced my brother to watch Cube with me, after he refused to watch it for years after having seen Cube: Zero (which is indeed a terribad movie)
Still a 8/10 for me. Great movie.

I actually found Cube: Zero quite entertaining ([sp]superhuman bullshit[/sp]aside). It's the second movie that's the black sheep in my book.
