King Kong (2005 Deluxe Extended Edition)- 8/10 I enjoy this movie a lot, despite its cheesiness. You can tell that it tries a little bit too hard to pull on the heartstrings of the viewer, but aside from the dated CGI (I can't believe it's been almost 8 years since it came out) and cheesy moments, I really like this movie.
The acting and general writing gets so unbelievably hammy at times that it's impossible to dislike it. Like when Denham mentions what the natives call the island and there's these CONSTANT close-ups of Driscoll typing it. [editline]23rd October 2013[/editline]
Finished Into the Wild. Haven't cried like that in a while. When Ron [sp]wanted to adopt him and shit, I proper chocked up[/sp] Tears/10
People always seem to give me shit when I say I didn't like 'Into the Wild'. Part of that is probably due the fact that I think Christopher McCandless was a goddamn moron.
gonna counter this argument by saying Peter Jackson's king kong is a terrible movie

I mean, a compass? Who the fuck needs those?
The Deer Hunter 9.5/10 It's long but I loved every minute.
People always seem to give me shit when I say I didn't like 'Into the Wild'. The whole thing shows how his strained relationship with his parents leads him to mistrust any loving relationship in his life, and turn away from opportunities to settle down. Like he's given chances to live with Rainey and Jan and bang sexy little Kristen Stewart, or get adopted by Ron and live a good, simple life. He as a person views himself as weak and wants to test himself, separating from the open arms of loving people and living in the harshest place he can think of. He's not stupid, he's a seriously emotionally damaged individual. And that's what the film is about, to me at least.
sometimes a few, recently not a lot. I'm trying to keep away from rewatching stuff. I'd like to do that cinema spree thing where critics would see 3 or 4 films in a day. Would be difficult to grab anyone whose interested though :v:
Wow, you have a load of cash

Pacific Rim - 8/10 I was surprised by this movie, I just thought it was going to be nothing but a romantic flick with some action, but it turned out I was pretty wrong. I loved loved the effects though, god damn.
If you live in the UK do what I do and get an unlimited card at Cineworld £16 a month for unlimited viewing. Hitting a year membership which will also get me free entry to imax and 3d. Cineworld are a fantastic company, easily the best of the major chains. Filth- 5/5 Absolutely loved it. Coming from Scotland I was especially excited to see this, since I've lived in the city it's set all my life (Edinburgh) and despite it being released here earlier than anywhere else (I actually almost got a press ticket to the premiere which had Irvine Welsh and James McAvoy... But my friend decided she didn't want to go and since I could only get in with her I didn't get to go :v: was raging) I only just got around to seeing it. Great to finally see another really good Scottish film that isn't a kitchen sink drama, as well as finally seeing a Scottish film getting a wide release. Honestly it probably sounds a bit weird but it feels really personal to me to have seen this. As an aspiring filmmaker in Scotland it's great to see that we do have successes appear that the world can see. There's a huge amount of talent in Scotland, lots of young talent, and it's stuff like this that makes me hopeful for my future. Hell, aside that just knowing it's filmed around where I live is great. I recognised a lot of the locations up town. The first few times we see Bruce he's just being a dick around the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket. Loved that. I also feel it captured a fair bit of the feel of Scotland outside of the drugs and violence too. The environments, the people, attitudes etc. It's close to home. Which... Probably sounds quite worrying to anyone who's seen the film :v: The film is dark, bleak, sadistic, twisted, grim, and offensive... And I absolutely loved every second. James McAvoy gives the best performance of his career, not that it'll be one that gets lauded- it's not that kind of film. I don't know how well this translates to other countries, it's very much a Scottish film. Lots of Scottish slang and Scottish humour. Although the film is absolutely hilarious, funnier than most comedies tbh, it's really dark too. Bruce Robertson, the main character, is not a nice person by any stretch. He's manipulative, cruel, a junkie, and just all-round unpleasant... But he's also a cop. He doesn't play by the book and as funny as it can be it can be quite uncomfortable to watch (that's praise- it's clearly deliberate) and as the film progresses the balance begins to change as the film becomes less funny and more dark. I actually loved the way it handled the changing of tone. It's very much a character film and so didn't have, or need to have, one scene that made him realise what he's doing or a scene that really forces him to accept it, it's more just a buildup and a slow payoff. Really well handled. The pacing of the whole film is absolutely brilliant. Loved the hell out of it. If it's showing near you, go see it and support it. One of the best films of the year easy. Also the ending was really good. It was a tricky one to pull off (tbh the whole film was an incredeibly risky adaptation, but it absolutely worked) but they pulled it off brilliantly.
Blood Diamond Really good movie. Great acting and powerful moments. Good cinematography and music. Definitely made diamonds even more off-putting for me. I think when I meet that one person, I'll get something other than a diamond when the time comes.

Space Jam - 6/10 Space Jam (song) - 10/10 Every facet of this movie is completely baffling. From an objective point of view, it's not not good at all. Still, as a look into the pop-culture of the mid-90's it stands unparalleled. There was never a movie like Space Jam, and there probably never will be one again.
space jam cured my cancer.
I bought Space Jame on Blu-Ray for $4 out of a bargain bin. Best $4 ever spent.
I bought Space Jame on Blu-Ray for $4 out of a bargain bin. Best $4 ever spent.
i too enjoy the feature film Space Jame featuring george michael and elusive rabbit
I bought Space Jame on Blu-Ray for $4 out of a bargain bin. Best $4 ever spent.
Best Buy has ridiculous bargains. I was able to pick up Black Rain there on Blu Ray ($30 at Amazon) for $3.
the trick is don't buy cinema food, ever
But that's how Cinemas make money, since they don't earn from the tickets. At least from what I heard.
If it is one thing that makes me want to go on a violent rampage during a movie at the cinema is when people start chewing and eating very loudly and when they scrabble in those loud chipsbags. It makes me go insane.
I bought Space Jame on Blu-Ray for $4 out of a bargain bin. Best $4 ever spent.
i still have the vhs
I found a shrink wrapped copy of Spice World on VHS in my house recently. Where did it come from?
How can you even eat or drink while watching a film in cinema?
How can you even eat or drink while watching a film in cinema?
Easily?
How can you even eat or drink while watching a film in cinema?
You must have some pretty bad coordination if you can't even eat/drink while watching something
Until the Light Takes Us- 6/10 An interesting documentary about origins and big figures of Norwegian black metal. It was interesting to me because I wasn't very familiar with the story that was told, I only knew about the singer Dead, but I imagine that it's all pretty redundant if you already know the story.
Alright, I have time for 1 movie tonight but I have 3 lined up. Should I watch Pan's Labyrinth, Evil Dead 2, or Fantastic Planet?
But that's how Cinemas make money, since they don't earn from the tickets. At least from what I heard.
I know but I hate how expensive it is. Can't justify paying that much. There's a tesco opposite my cinema so I just go there and buy a drink or something :v:
Requiem for a Dream. 10/10, such a greatly impacting movie and an excellent soundtrack.
The Counselor (3 or 4)/5 I really can't make up my mind on this one. It really straddles the line between being good and average. It has it's good moments (like Cameron Diaz fucking a car), but the plot is pretty thin. I kept thinking it wasn't being shown in the trailers because they wanted it kept under wraps, but it's really because it's barely there. However, the characters are well performed by all the actors. It's mostly a character study of consequences with a plot that pushes the characters forward. Also Gravity 5/5 Didn't see it in IMAX or 3D and I regret every moment of it. Even in standard 2D, I felt somewhat nauseated, in a good, tense way. [sp]Seeing the aftermath of the whole accident with the shuttle and the dead astronaut was freaky as hell.[/sp] And Sandra Bullock was pretty good. Same with Clooney.
