I have not seen a single Jim Carrey movie. How should I rectify this?
Dumb and Dumber Bruce Almighty Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Truman Show The Mask Man on the Moon That should do it.
Sounds more like you have a tiny reference pool. Besides, people must have seen it because it's also the movie where the whole 'zombies eat brains' cliche originated. It was written and directed by Dan O' Bannon, the man who wrote Alien.
I should say that I think more people have seen 28 Days Later than Return of the Living Dead. And even if it started the brains cliche, people probably don't immediately associate it with Return of the Living Dead.

But it still was one of the earliest films with running zombies so how is that even relevant? Why should the film 'not count' just because you personally haven't seen it? I was just showing the dude that the idea is older than 28 Days Later. All 28 Days did was turn it into a fad.
is Natural Born Killers good? It has mixed reviews and opinions across the board.
inside BUFFALO 8/10 Amazing low-budget documentary about african-american troops liberating Italy, and tuscany in particular. Really interesting and very, very moving. Got to meet the director in person today. Next screenings are going to be in New York and then Oklahoma city. If you have the occasion go see it, it's free. The only not-so-good points were the montage, that was a bit weird at times, and the sound during one of the interview that was kinda bad, but totally forgivable for such a great addition to the documentary scene.
real old, also its a halloween costume, so i dont understand what there is to even make fun of???
Maybe it was a halloween costume for you, but most of the guys in that picture, actually dressed like that for a casual day.
is Natural Born Killers good? Jiro dreams of sushi 8/10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-aGPniFvS0
Escape plan - 6.9/10 yes i liked it. i mean it was pretty stupid and over the top action movie but it sure knows how to get your attention! its more serious than The Last Stand but still keeps you entertained and does some very silly things without ruining the movie. arnold played a way more likeable role in this one and sylvester played sylvester
The difference is that people actually saw 28 Days Later.
The difference is that Return of the Living Dead is a better film.
Now you guys got me to watch it. And it's fucking awesome!
I dont understand the hype behind Danny Boyle at all. Trainspotting is good and sos 28 days later but like as a director he doesn't, to me, seem very impressive. Also Slumdog millionaire is one of the worst films I've ever seen (srs)
Slumdog millionaire is one of the worst films I've ever seen (srs)
why? legitimately curious
why? legitimately curious
Well,an imdb user has rated it as ''An energetic, stylish and engaging fairytale that has enough about it to cover the main weaknesses it has while you are watching''/ I haven't seen it. Also watched Pain and Gain, seemed shitty to me. Seen better. 7/10
Well,an imdb user has rated it as ''An energetic, stylish and engaging fairytale that has enough about it to cover the main weaknesses it has while you are watching''/
Fuck that marketing ploy, "ehhh feel good". Not once does it say it's a vibrant capture of indian culture, it was only marketed as just a love story.. It was a pretty dark and gruesome film at times too. They just lost a bunch of oppurtunities to show the film in its true colours.

Also Slumdog millionaire is one of the worst films I've ever seen (srs)
He's not the greatest director ever, but I like Danny Boyle's versatility. He doesn't have any really bad films per se, while he doesn't have any brilliant and amazing films. Yet his directing and his vision are often the best part of his films. I'm thinking now about Sunshine, that was stunning in most aspects and suffered only because of third act stupidity, Trance that failed at twisting its own twists, Slumdog Millionaire that took a very poor idea and turned it into something watchable. Oh, and he also directed Olympic Opening Ceremony in London 2012. He really is a skilled director
why? legitimately curious
Stupid as fuck story that is equally badly executed. Like honestly every time we see how he knows the answer to the questions on who wants to be a millionaire its a cringe-fest. Hes not smart he's just a walking deus-ex machina that coincidentally knows every answer cos his life is shit. I 100% could not get behind the embarrassing tacked on love story. It's pathetic and stupid and not really any justification for his love or efforts. I mean like he saw her what twice in his life when he was a kid and hung out a bit then decides he wants to marry her when he sees her in a palace or some shit?? (its been a while since Ive seen it so I cant really remember but I do remember there being zero depth to their relationshp) Its all so horrible contrived and painfully melodramatic with approximately 0% subtlety. (how do u win who wants to be a millionaire? smear yourself in shit apparently) Overly colourful and not in like a Sam Mendes way where it works. It's overwhelming. Terrible spastic cinematography. Eugh. And don't get me started in the gut-wrenchingly retarded and patronising final scene with the Bollywood dancing. its one of the most cringey things I have ever witnessed in a film. Its offensively stupid tbh. I cannot believe its screenplay won an oscar. Granted I've not seen the other nominees but they cannot have had worse scripts than this trash. I'm also annoyed at it because it robbed Milk of several oscars. Gus Van Sant absolutely deserved Best Director. It absolutely deserved best cinematography (it didn't even get nominated, sadly). it definitely deserved Best Picture. Definitely deserved Best Editing as well.
lol bollywood dancing is just standard indian practice, how can you call it patronising :/
Started watching Chinatown last night, but I was really tired so I only got about a third of the way in so far. What I saw was pretty good. It's Who Framed Roger Rabbit but with water instead of cartoons
Who Framed Roger Rabbit was supposed to be Chinatown 2 before they turned it into a Roger Rabbit movie.
another happy day 67/100
Who Framed Roger Rabbit was supposed to be Chinatown 2 before they turned it into a Roger Rabbit movie.
If you're interested, there actually is a sequel to Chinatown called "The Two Jakes", directed by Jack Nicholson. It's obviously not as good, but it's an interesting watch, specially for fans of the original film.
Natural Born Killers Yeah, it was great. Wasn't a fan of the photography though, they could have toned down the completely whacky angles a notch and thrown in less "random" filters. The story is really similar to Bonny & Clyde, but still stands on its own without seeming ripped off. The interview scene is great, the characters are hilarious (especially tommy lee jones and robert downey jr.) and overall its fun, over the top and unique. 8/10
Quenting Tarantino agrees with you. :v: I really enjoyed Inglorious, I was just disappointed at first because I thought it was going to be an entirely different movie due to the stupid trailers.
At first I was a little underwhelmed when I realized that the trailers marketed that film horribly. Then I was incredibly pleased when I found that the film itself was loads better than what the trailers promised.
Also watched Pain and Gain, seemed shitty to me. Seen better. 7/10
Do you write for ign? Iron Giant 10/10. Goddamn this movie is beautiful
