I can understand if someone dislikes Reservoir Dogs, it's definitly not a movie for everbody. Still you should aknowledge the qualities of the movie, even if you personally don't like it that much.
Watched children of men last night. 8/10 I liked the whole world in it, everything was very grim but still colorful in a way. A neat story save for a few silly parts, but nothing that ruined the movie for sure. A lot of neat camera work in my opinion the one shot where he is running through the uprising after the woman and the baby are taken was really well done. Not a fan of the way it ended because I don't like endings that leave a lot up in the air, but it was still very good for what it was I think.

Iron Man 3: 9/10 This movie was balls-out awesomesauce.
So The Great Gatsby is getting slated. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_great_gatsby_2012/ Surprised?
I actually kind of am, I've enjoyed most of the director's other films.
So The Great Gatsby is getting slated. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_great_gatsby_2012/ Surprised?
I can't stand Baz Luhrmann's films so hearing that this has got a good kicking brings happiness to my knickers. His films are style over story and I just don't like his style. Austrailia was a borefest. Shame Leo Di Cap got pulled into it and Joel Egerton who can be quite good.
I guess Leo only joined because of Romeo + Juliet.
Ignore RT, they sometimes bash good movies. I use it to see what critics think about films, without it influencing my decision on whether to see a movie or not. If it has 10% or something they might have a point, but most of the time you should watch and judge for yourselves.
moulin rouge is one of the worst movies ive ever seen
So The Great Gatsby is getting slated. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_great_gatsby_2012/ Surprised?
every clip ive seen made the actors look and act like retarded chuckecheese robots, so its the usual baz lurhman production
Taste changes from person to person and I think people should respect that
I only respect another person's taste if they actually make sense and have good evidence supporting their own views. Sometimes you can't really do much over some opinions here because some people tend to be pretty vague. "it seemed boring to me" is an okay thing to say - you can't really help it if you can't get into something (although maybe people can help you point out what they like about a movie, whether you agree or not) - but not explaining the process you went through to come to that conclusion is pretty unhelpful because it tells us nothing other than your feeling on something, and you can get that from anybody so what's the point of sharing it? If you can't say what you liked or dislike about a movie, you should do some more thinking or look at the movie more closely and if you don't want to do that, then I don't really think you like movies. Someone told me The Social Network was the worst movie ever and sucked because nothing happened. I'm not going to respect his taste because he's just plain dead wrong about "nothing happening".
TGG better be good because the book was fucking amazing. Getting really tired of cinema butchering literature.
Star Trek Into Darkness. 9/10 Really really good, excellent all round. The effects, the sound, the stylisation in general, all feels great.
Twelve Monkeys I don't really know what to think of this movie, personally I did not enjoy it that much. I thought that the acting was pretty poor and that most characters were simply boring, although Brad Pitt did a good job. The whole plot was kind of convoluted and not that comprehensible. The twists were kind of neat but overall I felt pretty empty during the movie and I did not grab my attention. It was not so atmospheric as I anticipated.
Event Horizon I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyways [sp]I grade horror movies on how well they scare me, and I'll be blunt. This is the scariest movie I've ever seen in my life thus far, except maybe The Thing. Hell not even Alien was this bad.[/sp] I mean, this shit was just downright unsettling
yeah, that movie is badass and left a lasting impression on me
Underworld Not sure what to think of this movie.. On one hand it's poorly written, poorly acted and overall just boring as fuck, while on the other it has Bill Nighy as a zombie vampire and Kate Beckinsale in tight leather.

I've been itching for one after I've seen Event Horizon.
if you loved event horizon play dead space.
I'm gonna put this out of the way. I liked Jaws 3 (minus gimmicky 3d parts and shit, good example is shark going into window) Criticize me all you want, I liked it

The same movie that had this thing? Eh, at least it wasn't Jaws 4.
Jaws 4 was the equation of shit. The shark looked bad enough It looks like its fin is far away and its standing up on water. I think the original Jaws shark was much more satisfying.
Just watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World last night. 8/10 Really good movie pretty impressed. Good mix of comedy, action, and randomness I enjoyed it. [sp]Though I was under the influence of a few things >.>[/sp]
you make me sick

just saw evil dead remake just like, i dunno man. it was just so different. i feel like what they were going for was to make the equivalent of the original, but for 2013. like, the evil dead for the new generation that's already so used to violence and horror, by upping the ante. that's pretty much all it was I feel. like, I liked it. but it had none of the charm. there were some really nice shots and a shitload of gore, but it doesn't hold a candle. there's something about sam raimi, bruce campbell and horror that just clicks like nothing else will. a (student?) film on a shoestring budget from 1981 still has more directing flare and charm than any modern horror could hope to achieve (don't even get me started on evil dead 2). i give it a something out of a something. undecided. it was definitely way way way better than any other horror of recent years. not even as good as drag me to hell though

It is obvious that the director wants to appeal to today's audience, and not the audience of the 80's.
no of course, but in doing that he missed out on what made the first so great and why especially the second still holds up to todays audiences. it was missing something interesting and all of the charm. you can appeal to modern audiences and still be unique and charming. the original ash is like, the coolest character. everything about him is iconic down to each individual shreds on his shirt and the scars on his face, not to mention his chainsaw hand and boomstick. the girl in the new one is just like she was addicted to drugs and then she was a deadite. and then she was okay. like i knew that was going to happen, that was obvious because that happened to ash, but she didn't have anything else interesting going on. the 'groovy' scene of ed2 says it all really, the new one had nothing like that. it had a similar montage but with none of the cool camera work and none of the charm. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline] basically it just lacked all the soul and charisma of the first that bruce and raimi brought to it in spades and spades. the original movies have a living backbone, you can feel the love and dedication that went into that movie. this one is well made and enjoyable but it kind of hits a wall there - it doesn't do anything else other than be super gory and flow well.
I fucking love Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, but why are you praising it for having "randomness"? I don't remember too many scenes with any LOLRANDUM moments, and even if they're there, they must have gone by fast or else I probably would have remembered them.
They tell him his hair looks messy and boom he has a hat on. Changes clothes instantaneously and a whole bunch of other wacky RANDOM shit. And I wasnt praising it by any means simply stating I what I thought of the movie and what I personally liked about it.
They tell him his hair looks messy and boom he has a hat on. Changes clothes instantaneously and a whole bunch of other wacky RANDOM shit.
That's called humour. You clearly aren't familiar with Edgar Wright's style.
