I served the king of England (2008) A rather quirky Czech film about a man who works his way up through the hotels as a waiter and sees the lives of the rich and powerful. This was fantastic. The score was one of the best I've experienced and reminded me much of the silent film scores that just keep chugging along with the narrative. The lead from Ivan Barnev also nods towards the silent stars as his performance has little dialog but much of the bemused style of Chaplin and Keaton. The performances were wonderful and the sets worked for the time they were supposed to portray. Julia Jentsch makes an appearance as a fanatical German in occupied Czech and gives the film a needed change of pace. This is an excellent film and will entertain even the hardest of customers. Brotherhood of war (2004) Over dramatic Korean story of 2 brothers forced to fight in the Korean war. The FX and battlefield scenes were fantastic and the story of these 2 brothers was a good vehicle to tell the story of the Korean war. Some parts were rather over dramatic with the slow-mo and 'nooooo' bits but the overall performances were very good. The horrors of war commited by both sides on the innocent were portrayed well which cancels out any propaganda charges that could be levelled against it. Two and a bit hours mades this a long film but I enjoyed it. California Dreamin' (1999) Armanda Assente leads a small group of Nato soldiers on a cargo train trying to get tech equipment to Kosovo during the war. The only problem is a station master in Romania won't let them pass through his sleepy village without presenting the correct custom papers so the film is their stay in this tiny town. Plenty of small storys within this film keep it interesting but the overall package is nothing amazing. The extras look like locals inn the village they filmed it so the film does feel very real. Not bad, worth a watch but no classic. (User was permabanned for this post ("alt of jewdozer" - Rusty100))

There are still usernames that resemble jewdozer that haven't been banned yet? [editline]15th December 2013[/editline] To avoid ban for off topic, I give Pacific Rim a 9/10, the last point was because it's not all giant robots and there's that crying girl scene they decided put in a giant robot movie
I give Pacific Rim a 9/10
absolutely disgusting

Oh my days the thread is going to be filled with deleted posts at this rate, do something rusty.
trust me i am brainstorming haha [editline]15th December 2013[/editline] as im sure you understand, it's my job to ban alts of permabanned users. i wasn't even the one to put her down in the first place, it's not a vendetta. the deletion was just a deterrent method. but some people are just unreachable. and this thread is one of my go-to threads regardless. i ain't just gonna not see her around.
Holy shit what's with jewdozer today? She really wants her reviews posted.
so, i'm really sorry guys! ip bans can't be done on the spot when an admin isn't online. and she just circumvents them anyway.
PR didn't need a rating higher than PG-13 to be realistic.
Not so much about realism, it was the writing and some of the plot. Had I been 12 I would've loved the shit out of this movie. But nowadays, I don't know, it just feels very predictable and the characters didn't feel unique.

It's not because it's "personal". Any alts from a permabanned account will get banned. You know, hence the "Permabanned".
lol yea keep telling yourself its personal if that makes you feel important for the record, i ban you a lot because i browse this thread a lot regardless of whether or not you're in it. so hush up and buzz off missy. i'm gettin pretty bored of this. (theres no way it could even be personal. your original perma wasnt even from me. i'm just upholding it, because it was justified). and as far as face punch pride goes, everyone here hates me already lol. ~end of~ [editline]16th December 2013[/editline] post movies. no jewdozers [editline]16th December 2013[/editline] i watched Sightseers. other than is being intensely british, i liked it a lot. also, American Hustle. didn't think it was amazing, but the performances were more than enough to make it really enjoyable. bale is great as usual and I loved louie ck. only complaint is that the middle section felt like a drunken haze and it was song after song and never gave you a moment to take it what was happening, but that may have been intended.
Casino 9/10 Another great film by the great Martin Scorsese. It felt quite similar to Goodfellas and I'm not too sure if that's entirely a good or a bad thing. However I would be lying if I didn't enjoy the similarities in style to Goodfellas since I love that movie. Fantastic actors, direction, shooting etc... all around. It's a classic crime Scorsese film, that stuff feels so effortlessly executed and I'm always blown away by how it works so well. If I had to say why this movie didn't work quite as well for me to the likes of Goodfellas or Raging Bull was probably because of the characters. I don't know, they just didn't have the same punch as much as Liotta's Henry Hill, De Niro's Jimmy Conway or Jake LaMotta or Travis Bickle or Rupert Pubkin and Joe Pesci's Tommy DeVito. Those characters had me thinking about them for days after I watched the movie whilst Casino's characters didn't except for maybe Sharon Stone's Ginger character. Maybe it's just me I don't know. While I did mention how I enjoyed the similarity in style to Goodfellas, I'm thinking maybe the movie sacrificed its chance for originality. All of Scorsese's greats have this really unique feel to them but Casino just felt like Goodfellas edition 2.0. It has differences sure but not to the extent of going "wow this film is completely different in style to his previous works!" IMO. Then again I could be missing something. Still a great time was had from a film done by a great director.

Do my deleted posts appear on your screen? My side its as though they were never posted, completely gone. Sorry if this is clogging up the page guys. Screencap?
iirc golds can see deleted posts. [editline]-[/editline] (I didn't mean they can see the actual message, just that there has been a deleted post - like rusty's screencap above)
Yeah they clog up the page and while it doesn't show exactly what you posted, it still shows that you posted but whatever you wrote is just said to be 'this message has been deleted by Rusty100'. It's pretty annoying.
Point taken guys, sincere apologies.
The Two Towers (Extended edition) - 7/10 Al those extended Ent scenes just dragged on forever and ever. The theatrical cut was better.
After rewatch the Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers, I realized how great these movies are. Especially the action/combat parts when compared to the Hobbit. The combat looks far better and realistic, the cgi never feels overdone and some of the stunts are a bit unrealistic but still look really great. The hobbit has so much cgi stuff during the combat, it's far more boring. Don't get me wrong I like the Hobbit but the old trilogie just has an amazing and epic feel to them.
How about you people stop replying to gimmicks and thus stop clogging up the thread further. Report + ignore. Or get banned with them for giving the attention they want.
