The Butterfly Effect Very interesting movie. If anyone says they've never thought about doing stuff like this they're lying, everyone wishes they could go back in time to change something to hopefully influence their life for the better. I feel like it was very well done but I disliked the ending. I saw the directors cut ending but out of all of them I like the 2nd alternate better. Suicidal soul-less fetus is a bit too dark for me. I know people like to rant on about Ashton but he did a very good job in this imo
What was the 2nd alternate one again? [sp]Is it the one where the main character sees the girl he likes again and then follows her?[/sp]
What was the 2nd alternate one again? Have you watched the 6 sequels? :v:
All I remember about the sequels is that one of them had the main character unwillingly given a blowjob by a man when he was sleeping.
Prisoners - 9/10 Damn good movie.
Oldboy (the original) 9.5/10 Damn.
Oldboy (the original)
Damnit, you just reminded me that there's a remake of Oldboy. Damnit. The Bothersome Man- 8/10 Watched it because it's been in my Netflix queue for months. I was extremely interested throughout the entire film. Towards the end, when it really began to pick up, I felt anxious, but as if I wasn't getting to see enough of the movie. Beautifully shot and full of scenes just odd enough to further perplex and intrigue me. The one scene that was just amazing: [sp]After Andreas' failed suicide attempt. That shot of his silhouette staggering up from the train tracks and lurching forward was more gruesome than any amount of bloody makeup that the light showed on him. And then Anne Britt just asks him if he wants to go-kart. So odd, and intriguing.[/sp]
Barton Fink - 7/10 around halfway through the film when things get weird i realized i was watching a coen brothers films, before that it was pretty normal. the ending reminded me alot of A Serious Man [editline]s[/editline] actually now i think about it theres alot of similairities between Barton Fink and A Serious Man
[sp]Theatrical: They walk past each other and sort of notice but move on and ignore each other, 1st: They walk past each other and he turns and follows her 2nd: They walk past each other but turn and talk to each other[/sp] Its probably just me but I'm a sucker for romance and happy endings, so I'd be happy with either of the two
Christ how many endings are there for that movie, 5?
Burn After Reading The movie was funny I guess. I don't know. I'm just confused right now
burn after reading is fucking hilarious the ending scene defines this movie very well. it's one of my favorite comedies
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 10/10
No
the first half of Upside Down It looks fucking fantastic but that's about it. I had to stop watching for puppy related reasons and I don't know if I'll bother watching the rest.
Killing them Softly (remake) 6/10 This is usually my type of movie and I do like the atmosphere. This is a rewatch for me and I still didn't "get" the movie. The acting, camerawork and audio are really great but somehow this movie lacks something for me. At some points it's simply boring, the plot sounds interesting but it's actually very boring. Also the whole thing between Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini felt like such a drag, the pacing suffered a lot from it. I know this movie has a message about economics and the united states but I don't get it, perhaps because I'm not really into it and can't idenitify myself with it. I don't know, I really want to like this movie but it's shallow to me.
So Little White Lies gave Nymphomaniac a very positive review, (5, 4, 4) which is great to hear. It comes out in 2 parts in March which is sooner than I expected and I'm super excited.
Star Trek Into Darkness I was never into Star Trek but this was really entertaining. I digged the design of pretty much every space ship and alien, it was all great. If I had one complaint it would be the rather thin plot, but to hell with it cause I had a damn good time.
Into Darkness is a weird one because non Star Trek fans enjoyed it cos they thought it was cool and fun and stuff but Star Trek fans (such as myself) were just really angry at it because it's such blatant pandering towards in jokes and is so referential of the fantastic and far superior original series, as well as the film Wrath of Khan (still the best Star Trek film) which is a bit ironic considering it was clearly trying to appeal to fans. When Spock shouted "KHAAN" I honetsly wanted to just kill myself there its maybe the worst bit of any film of 2013 [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] not to mention it is straight up horribly written even beyond fan pandering. Like its story and plot and structure are SHITTT. its full of plot holes and is messy and bad and terrible [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] its pacing is so horribly fucked as well
The Hunter. Really good, enjoyable to watch, plenty to think about after. Dafoe is great too.

The only use he had for them at that point was to use them.[/sp]
I finally have watched Lawrence of Arabia after its 4K restoration. I'll be damned - if there is a film that could be called "absolutely perfect", then this is the closest we can get. Undoubtedly in cinematography, arguably in everything else. 1962 was an amazing year for movies - Lawrence of Arabia, To Kill a Mockingbird (which I also adore), The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Harakiri, Knife in the Water, Sanjuro and also Dr. No.

Toy Story 1: 8/10 Toy Story 2: 8.5/10 Toy Story 3: 9/10 On a side note, it's pretty amazing going through and seeing the technological advancement in animation. For example, the lack of detail in Toy Story 1 (first full feature animated movie) compared to 2 and especially 3, the character animation and lip animation, as well as reflections and clipping. I noticed a ton of times where character's models would clip through themselves or other objects, while it's hardly noticeable in 2 and not at all in 3. The thing that stood out the most was grass and foliage and backgrounds. In 1, the grass was a completely flat texture, while in 3 all the individual blades of grass are being rendered and animated. It's pretty amazing seeing that tech advancement and thinking about how much further it's able to go.
Gran Torino - 7/10

[sp]bones armed the torpedoes to detonate once they were aboard khan's ship so he couldn't destroy them, and khan had no idea the bodies weren't in the torpedoes.[/sp]
Goldfinger (I watched it a few days ago, but I've been rather lazy and didn't post it) 4/5 Perhaps my favorite Connery film, mostly because it has most of the tropes and trademarks that defined the rest of the Bond series (for better and worse).
Enemy Mine (1985) 10/10 This is the fourth time I watched this, still an awesome move! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089092/ A soldier from Earth crash-lands on an alien world after sustaining battle damage. Eventually he encounters another survivor, but from the enemy species he was fighting; they band together to survive on this hostile world. In the end the human finds himself caring for his enemy in a completely unexpected way. On a distant planet, at the height of the war between the Dracon and Terran Empires, two military pilots crash in the heat of battle. One is Terran, one is Drac. Each is a repulsive alien to the other. Each is a professional warrior, filled with hatred for his blood enemy. Now, marooned on a hostile world, they have a choice. They can complete their missions in a mutual pact of violence and death. Or they can do the most painful thing any Human or Drac has ever done: reach out and begin the new age of understanding that is struggling to be born.

I remember last year at Sony we had to package the Limited Edition 4k edition with special film inside for weeks and it was awful but damn was that some nice ass packaging.
Also watched Lawrence of Arabia. It's fucking great
