Don Jon When watching alone : 10/10 When watching with your gf : no more sex for a month/10 (also she's pissed and bought me a box of tissues) :suicide:
Raiders Of The Lost Ark - 9.3. Always a pleasure to watch. Marion is fucking cute.
Why is Iron Man 3 on that list? [editline]21st December 2013[/editline] It's the only movie on that list that's actually good.
Heck, it's certainly not worse than Man of Steel [editline]21st December 2013[/editline]
Raiders Of The Lost Ark - 9.3. They're not especially special-effects heavy due to the fact that they're set in the 30s and 40s.
Because fans of the comic were butthurt as hell about the Mandarin.
nobody in the entire world, should give a shit about comic book fans
American Hustle 10/10
nobody in the entire world, should give a shit about comic book fans
If it weren't for the comic book fans there wouldn't be a movie, so at least give them that
hollywood is so desperate for ideas, that is not even remotely true.
hollywood is so desperate for ideas, that is not even remotely true.
Yeah no If in 1963 and until the 2000s, if subscribers had gotten low enough and the comics cancelled there would be no movie, so you are objectively wrong, again.
hollywood is so desperate for ideas, that is not even remotely true.
True but the people who give a shit about the comic book, its characters and fans usually make better movies. Joel Schumacher gave no shit about Batman, his comic, or his fans and his films were mostly crap. Nolan certainly gave a shit and so did Donner, Raimi and Singer. You shouldn't try to cater to a specific group of comic book fans since they're so divisive anyway but you still need to respect what they universally like and see in a comic book character. If you don't, you lose something important behind the adaptation. Besides Rusty, are you saying that nobody should give a shit about comic book fans since they're such a small part of the general audience? It's interesting how the general interest in reading comics declined so rapidly after the mid 90s.
Hausu (1977) I don't even know where to begin. I haven't watched a movie in so long because school and stuff, and this is the first one I decide to watch. You literally cannot even begin to predict what will happen next, this movie is something else. The visual editing and music are so strange, you really just have to see it for yourself to even understand. The plot is simple enough and isn't very important, this movie is just for the visual part of it. I've seen some strange movies, and this one sits somewhere up at the top of that list for strangest movies. If you're into weird movies then you have to check this out. A Charlie Brown Christmas Honestly this is pretty rough around the edges. It's a bit disorienting how mean everyone is to poor old Charlie Brown, the animation is lower quality (even for the time) and the plot feels uneven. However, I gotta say that all in all the good little parts throughout make it heartwarming.
sorry, what i meant was *nobody should care about comic book fan complaints
So you're allowed to bitch when people remake your favorite movies as a shitty re-adaptation (like your rant about The Terminator a few pages ago) but comic book fans (and LOTR fans in my case, or just about any source-material fans in general) can't complain when their beloved things are bastardized on the big screen? Talk about hypocrisy
If the complaint is "they changed it, therefore it sucks" it's not very valid if the complaint is "they changed it, also it sucks" then it is valid
because iron man 3 was a genuinely enjoyable movie and the change didn't make the movie bad, it was just change. that's the only reason they're complaining, because it's different. like they've literally never heard of a movie being different than the thing it's based off. [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline] and especially rating it as one of the years worst movies, because they changed something, and comic book fans didn't like the fact it was changed, regardless of whether or not the movie was good despite it, is retarded and should be paid no heed.
I mean, I haven't read many Iron Man comics, but apparently the Mandarin was reworked from "yellow peril stereotype" to (quoting Wikipedia) "a genius scientist and a superhumanly skilled martial artist". Now, the big controversy seems to be coming from the Mandarin's rings. In the comics, he has ten rings, each with a different mystical power. In the film, the Ten Rings is the name of a terrorist organization and there are no powered-up jeweleries. In the movies, Kingsley is set up as a re-imagining (rings and all) of the classic Mandarin - updated to reflect Tony Stark's modern movie origin in the Middle East rather than in Asia. However, it is Pearce who embodies the modernized Mandarin - a ruthless, megalomaniacal businessman. I feel that they could have tried to work the rings in - perhaps some variety of machinery. It's true that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has aliens and magic, but those would work better in a Thor movie and would seem out of place in Iron Man's films. But people who complain that the Mandarin was utterly ruined, or that Guy Pearce's entire motivation was "Tony Stark was mean to me once when I was ugly and nerdy", or say that the villain should have been a mystic with magical rings are missing the point. Not to say that the film was flawless but it was by no means the fifth worst movie of 2013.
Anchorman 2 gets a 7/10 from me
Rifftrax worst movies of 2013 http://www.rifftrax.com/bad-movies-worst-of-2013 its okay
After Earth is on par with Battlefield Earth on awfulness? Yeah, not buying that.

The Deer Hunter - 10/10 enjoyed every one of the 180 minutes.
sorry, what i meant was *nobody should care about comic book fan complaints
that's such a huge generalization it's not even funny saying "wow harry potter fans are weirdos" or "iron man fans are nerds" is one thing, but "comic books" is just too broad for what you said to be reasonable [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline]
because iron man 3 was a genuinely enjoyable movie and the change didn't make the movie bad, it was just change. that's the only reason they're complaining, because it's different. like they've literally never heard of a movie being different than the thing it's based off. fucking hell man 12 years a slave can't get over it. Most definitely the film of the year. God damn.
Don Jon - 5/10 The first half was pretty boring, and when it started to get slightly interesting it was over. Way too rushed...
fucking hell man 12 years a slave can't get over it. Most definitely the film of the year. God damn.
i think im going to commit suicide. the movie releases 20th of february here, thats massive bollocks :(
Anchorman 2 - 7/10 a lot more enjoyable and funny than the first, though I'm not sure it's as quotable. The joke about [sp] "The Lady Killers" [/sp] had me laughing for ages. I think Brick was the best character in this film, with Ron being a close second. The [sp] blind [/sp] segment dragged a bit and it only really used one joke. Pretty good, go see it if you liked the first.
Hobbit 2 Can't really rate it because I haven't seen the first one, and it's been ages since I've seen the LOTR trilogy, but I thought it was well made and the environments were gorgeous. But it's hilarious how awful the CGI was at the end though, its like they had a week left to finish the movie, so they could only render the fluid physics for like a couple hours. How could they make something look so bad when the rest of the movie looked so good?
Smaug looked incredible, probably the best dragon I've ever seen in a film. However that scene overall kinda irritated me, the whole cat and mouse thing. The fact that no one died even when they literally should have been burnt to a crisp (eg [sp]standing behind those pillars????[/sp]) kinda took me out of it. It became a bit silly. However the melted gold looked pretty shit. It did honestly look like a pre-render.
Bilbo gets flung down a giant chasm in the goblin town, smashing into rocks and crap, and he just gets knocked unconscious. I stopped caring after the 5th life-or-death situation. There'll always be some BS that saves them in the literal last second.
The molten gold looked hideous.
Yea I mean its a kids book etc but it does take away a lot of the tension since its obvious literally no one is going to die ever. lotr however was willing to, to an extent, kill someone if it really needed. Or at least have them leave etc. And it was a lot more emotionally driven. I didn't hate either of The Hobbit films, although they were very average especially compared to the fantastic LOTR trilogy. There is very little emotion or depth to The Hobbit films and they're just silly adventure films. And very cheesy and a bit hammy. I mean, they're fun, but nothing more. And overlong. Anyway, I just watched Before Sunrise. Liked it a lot. 4/5. I thought it was fascinating and beautiful. Incredibly original and well written and thought provoking if at times a little heavy handed, with really great performances by the lead couple, especially Ethan Hawke. He's outstanding in it. I really love these characters and really look forward to watching the other two films in the trilogy and I'll be doing so soon. I own Sunset since I got it and sunrise in a double feature however I'll have to pick up Before Midnight. I've kinda been overcome by feels the past couple days since I finished The Last Of Us (Over the course of only 3 days... Too fucking good :v:) which was the most emotionally powerful video game I've ever played and has easily secured itself a place on my favourites of all time. I think its my second favourite 7th Gen game (Dark Souls being #1) altho this is not really relevant so yea. However I am behind the idea of a TLOU film although I think I'd go more for miniseries. It's such a cinematic and powerful game that if done properly it'd be an incredible show (and would maybe stop having people think The Walking Dead is amazing [sp]heads up its shit[/sp] just cos there isnt any other decent zombie stuff out there)
