I think The Last Of Us is perfectly relevant in this thread. it's got the actors acting out each scene, its got amazing storytelling and character development and a perfect soundtrack supporting it all. Honestly this is as close to an interactive-movie we've gotten imo (also one of my favourite games ever if not the best i've played) as for a miniseries Frank Darabont should create it and nail it as he does and show TWD and AMC who's boss
Anchorman 2 7/10 It was pretty funny. Watched it with a friend of mine and she liked it too, even though we both saw Anchorman 1 so long ago that neither of us really remembered it besides few memorable scenes. Some jokes were actually enough to get me cracking up to the point I had to really fight to stop laughing. But there were a bunch of parts that fell flat as well. But overall I felt it did a good job often than not. The ending was just... well... Strange.
i really liked world's end i'll give it a 8/10 [sp]read no synopsis, i had no idea what was coming. thought it'd be a dumb tryhard comedy but it actually surprised me and the humor was also very good[/sp]
Have you seen the other two movies?

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
they are much funnier than the worlds end and imo far superior but I know a lot of people liked The Worlds End the most. imo its the worst but hey. Its still a good movie, just prepare for some of the most fun you will have watching a film with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. They are A+.
Lost in Translation - 8/10 I've been meaning to see this for the longest time, and I'm glad I finally did.
Saving Mr. Banks 10/10 Tom Hanks was perfect, Emma Thompson was perfect. Just like Mary Poppins, this movie is Pratically perfect in every way.
Prisoners - 9/10 This was a heavy, and definitely long movie but very well crafted. Jake Gyllenhaal stole the show and the ending was pretty much perfect. There really was nothing wrong with it besides a few little plot things, the acting was spot on. Overall, probably the best movie of 2013 that I've seen. [sp]Could someone who's seen it explain to me the significance of the guy who shot himself in the interrogation room? That whole sub-plot wasn't totally clear to me.[/sp]

I know they're drunk for the most part of the movie, but they just constantly make questionable decisions for me to get invested in it. They came off as assholes for a lot of the movie, especially Simon Pegg's character. The characters in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were a lot more endearing which I think played a big part in making the movies a lot more enjoyable. The World's End was still pretty good though. The fight scenes and editing were really good, which is no surprise since Edgar Wright was praised for that in Scott Pilgrim. I'm kind of sad that the trilogy is over. I hope the Pegg/Wright/Frost trio doesn't stop here.

It felt more like a drama than a comedy at times. Shaun/Hot Fuzz struck a good balance.

Recently saw Prisoners, 9/10. A great movie. The make up was top notch, the overall ambient feel of the movie felt very dramatic toward the end and quite fitting. A fairly realistic approach on how one would go that far, and become that deranged on another. Fitted with a puzzle to find the girls, and misleading events that caused even my head to spin. I really think it was my top movie for 2013.
Con Air 8/10 Cage is a master of action.
Toy Story - 9/10 Maybe a bit overshadowed by its sequels these days but still a great and pioneering animated film. Showing a few spots of ageing these days in both Graphics and animation but I wish to stress I didn't consider this in my score.

Kick-Ass 2 - 7/10 Didn't have the same charm as the first movie but regardless I still had some nice laughs and it was enjoyable. The Wolverine - 9/10 I'll be honest I've never seen an X-Men movie before so I was kind of confused at the start but this movie was simply phenomenal in my opinion, although predictable. I plan on watching the main movies to catch up for Days of Future's Past. I appreciate how the movie is a darker film compared to other Marvel movies, which is definitely something that we need more of in comic book films.
Minus 2 duds (3 and origins) I still think xmen is the best superhero franchise. Definitely better than the marvel one and at its best it rivals tdk. (imo xmen 2 is better than any of nolans batman films)
Alan Partridge Alpha Papa I liked the old Partridge stuff but also felt it had run its course. This was proof of that as the gags started well but very soon the film ran out of steam relying on those stupid moments. I watched it in a room full of boys and hated it as much as they did. Unfunny.
Lost in Translation - 8/10 I've been meaning to see this for the longest time, and I'm glad I finally did.
I love this movie. Nothing gets me to sleep faster than it, not even sleep medicine.
Brick (2005) - 7/10 I know it was supposed to be a noir homage, but i just couldn't take it that seriously with the high school setting. They played that a little to straight for my taste, there's little nods to how ridiculous it is at times. Like "The Pin" drinking milk and eating cookies while trying to talk tough but there wasn't enough of that for me to buy the setting. Aside from that, I really enjoyed this movie. This is the kind of movie that I really want to make one day, or maybe get off my ass and work really hard on now. JGL did a pretty impressive job. I mean, he was only 23/24 when this came out and carried this movie pretty hard. The dialogue mixed with the setting was super cringy at times. [sp]"I've got all five senses and I slept last night, that puts me six up on the lot of you."[/sp] Nice burn, JGL. That was wicked awesome. The whodunit was really well done though. The twists were really fun, I had to think for a bit on some of them which I really liked. Overall, would recommend to fans of the genre.
I didn't like Brick and thought its acclaim was really weird. I too thought it was very hard to take seriously and imo felt really stupid, trying to be this noir thriller in a fucking high school with a villain who looks like he got beat up every day for 5 years for being a big fucken NERD. maybe ill watch it again one day cos Rian Johnson is a good director but idk all I remember is it being dumb as hell

I think it all depends on whether or not you can apply your suspension of disbelief on it. At times, even I had a hard time getting invested in it. I enjoyed it, but I would definitely understand if the setting just gets too distracting for them. Wait holy shit this is the same guy that directed Ozymandias from Breaking Bad? Damn he must feel pretty good about that.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues 7.6/10 Some good laughs if you liked the original. Most surprising film of the year, I thought it was going to be shit. I especially liked the part where [sp]they smoked crack on live on air.[/sp]
Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny What the fuck did I just see? Why the hell was most of this movie a high-school stage production of Thumbelina instead of actual Santa-with-Ice-Cream-Bunny action? What is the ungodly being that is the Ice Cream Bunny? Will I ever sleep soundly again?... Was that shit in Santa's pants in that one scene, or was it just dirt? This predicament truly lacked it's usual cheer.
I liked the Hobbit Desolation of Smaug very much than the last movie
I appreciate how the movie is a darker film compared to other Marvel movies, which is definitely something that we need more of in comic book films.
Good God, no. [editline]24th December 2013[/editline] If you seriously want to see a dark comic book film, watch 'Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox'.
The Year Without a Santa Claus Even by Rankin-Bass standards this is pretty odd. The story makes very little sense. I do enjoy the songs and a lot of the design, though. Of course, the Miser Brothers are the film's high point.

I simply meant darker than current marvel movies, though it still wasn't as dark as i'd like
by darker I didn't necessarily mean dark. The latter is way more darker though.
